cope

Best game of 2019.
Hands down.

that would be Devil May Cry 5, but this game is decent

This and Splatoon 2 are the only two games I want the Switch for.
Is it worth? Is Splatoon 2 still alive? Does Astral Chain run at least decently?

Splatoon 2 is very much alive
Astral chain runs very well and is a great game

The only reason it didn't win action game of the year is nostalgia

great game. fucking great OST

ftfy

>The only reason it didn't win action game of the year is nostalgia
Or that it lack the fun factor and mechanical depth of DMC5

Both of these suck ass

>not posting the awesome twin mix

Not even a contender

I had just found that after my post. Pretty nice.

Very solid game held back by all of the JRPG elements
If a sequel can give us a voiced protagonist, get some better writers, cut down on the detective/side mission shit, and spread out the quality bosses more evenly instead of saving them all for the last third it could be amazing

Aesthetically the best game I've played in years. The minutiae of the games world is the real highlight and an exorbitant amount of effort was put into building it. Something I appreciated about the game was that everything had a practical purpose within the world. You never really consciously think about it but in mario you have a series of obstacles for seemingly no reason other than as a challenge to the player. The collectibles and hidden areas of Astral Chain are seamlessly integrated into the world.
The gameplay is very fun and I've only started to experience repetition on my third playthrough of the missions on p ult difficulty where I've cemented my pattern of attack.
The story and certain characters are lacking however I almost preferred more passive storytelling than overbearing poor storytelling.

Never ever sönigger

What do you mean? It was successful a d it's also Platinum games fastest selling original's IP (this means created by them, Nier and Metal Gear WEREN'T create by P*)

Yup, and I'm glad it did. Great game.

FUcking weebs

somehow sold over a million copies though
and it was pretty good
best OST of 2019

>better than DMC5
>better than Sekiro
>better than RE2 Remake

Attached: bdd.jpg (540x523, 56.73K)

two of those are correct

It's amazing how Yas Forums can have this much shit taste at once
>Let's take out everything policey from my cyber police simulator.

yeh

>Oh yeah, sometimes quality original IPs still get announced and released within a 4 month span as complete content-filled games without any DLC, in direct opposition to every single cancerous practice this industry has adopted as standard
Yes OP, good things still happen. Thanks for reminding me of that.

>the only reason it didn't win action game of the year is nostalgia
You could make this argument if it was a DMC remake but you're fucking pants on head retarded calling a sequel with improved mechanics on an already celebrated action game fucking nostalgia and also coping. There was also Sekiro to compete on that title so Astral Chain is very much shit out of luck.

this, what the game really need was more sections where you just file papers and sit around for hours waiting for someone to call for help, would have really sold the police side of things and been way better

I'm cool with making all of that shit optional if you just want to focus on the combat you should be able to
I was bored out of my mind whenever they drop you in a map and you have to run around scanning shit and talking to people

>NOOO WHY ISN"T MY CYBERPUNK DETECTIVE GAME A DMC RIPOFF REEEEEEE
Cringe, kys

>NOOO WHY DON'T YOU LIKE "GAMEPLAY" WHERE YOU JUST RUN AROUND AND LOOK FOR THINGS
Yikes, kys

I also really enjoyed the whole concept of being a superpowered stand cop in a cyberpunk apocalyptic arc city. But I understand if people just wanna beat shit up I guess. It would be cooler if they made the crimes/mysteries more interesting to solve though.

>let's make an action game where 1/3 of the time is spent outside of combat talking to people
>WTF why don't people like this?!

Happy it sold so well.

DMC4 exists, you can spend as many hours in bloody palacy as you want instead of shitting up threads about good games.

>mechanical depth of DMC5
t. fag who would never beat DMC on dante must die mode

Any more cop games? I've played this and Zero no Kiseki, anything that integrates combat and investigation/detective work with a police skin over it is good, bonus point if it rewards you doing a good job or punishes you for acting out of line

>The only reason it didn't win action game of the year is nostalgia
it's 20fps and loaded with cinematic QTEs that naughty dog would be proud of.
the only reason you think it deserves best action game is because you're a nintendo cocksucker, so much so that you namefag as the company president.

I hated the lack of unlockables in this game and lack of weapons I was hoping to get one for each legion but other then that was a great game

>not posting Marie's sweaty tits
I'm disapointed in this whole thread

Attached: 2gsmcf1sz0l31.jpg (2469x2200, 554.62K)

DMC5 was okay at best really not all that

I absolutely wouldn't say that but Astral Chain was absolutely one of my GOTYs of 2019
2019 was a great year for action games in general

>muh DMC
I'm not just comparing it to DMC I'm comparing to Bayonetta and MGR, games made by the same company
Why would you ever want less combat in a Platinum game? That's always the selling point not JRPG hubs and side missions

ASTRAL FLOP HUE!

Don't even talk to me if you don't have at least S+ on normal.

Attached: 20200409_185344.jpg (3264x1836, 1.38M)

>cinematic QTEs
why do people who haven't played games insist on shitposting about them

Platinum should be able to branch out into other genres without incels crying about muh action muh platinum medals

Experimenting is all well and good when it works, not when it ruins their game

Angels from Evangalion that act like stands from Jojo all wrapped in a 90's cyberpunk anime aesthetic with artwork and character designs from Masakazu Katsura.
How much fucking K I N O can one game contain?

Yeah I want to see Platinum make a kart racer and a grand strategy game next even though they have no talent or experience in those genres
A developer working to their strengths? No way fag

>Any more cop games? I've played this and Zero no Kiseki, anything that integrates combat and investigation/detective work with a police skin over it is good, bonus point if it rewards you doing a good job or punishes you for acting out of line

Judgment.

Hope we get a sequel.

PRESS A TO AWESOME!

Attached: qte chain.png (2000x1128, 1.76M)

Yep, definitely what I meant, seethe harder retard.

It's one of the few Platinum games to actually break a million

How is there less combat? Have you made it to chapter 12?? Have you even played the game???

Based

That's an (optional, often non-optimal) finisher move activated by a single button press. Pretty far from a real QTE.

Console fuckboi spotted

>mfw played all those games including Astral Chain

Attached: cuteb.jpg (250x266, 46.91K)

A good game? Yeah it happens often with the nintendo switch

I feel you on the lack of unlockables as for the weapons the Legions themselves are weapon but still having at least one extra weapon per Legion would be nice

Have you played the game?
Did you just block out all the time spent doing mandatory detective work and running around hubs?
I'm not even saying it should be nothing but combat I liked the puzzles using the Legions, I'd prefer if they expanded on that idea more instead of shoving JRPG filler down your throat

Attached: image-asset.png (1000x563, 672.96K)

DMC fuckbois were desperate to get a game where Dante has white hair

>got torn to pieces by Sekiro
>got diced into bloody gibs by DMC5
>got shredded into gores and entrails by RE2MAKE
>fanarts never caught on
>is considered a step down from Nier Automata
>is considered as one of the blandest and most forgettable games developed by PlatinumGames
Either a bait or just plain retarded.

Attached: 1576337849350.jpg (640x480, 53.37K)

Hopefully they improve it in the sequel

DMC5 is shit, never played a game so up its own arse in my life.

I agree, but would disagree midway in the game. It got extremely better by the very end, biggest case of 'it gets good 20 hours in and then ends' of my life.

DMC5 relied very much on fanservice and nostalgia without that people wouldn't be riding it so hard

Yeah, it was good

“It wasn't bad” is what primarily comes to mind. The combat and puzzles/sidequests were mostly enjoyable. There’s a bit of backtracking through levels for anything that isn’t 100% related to the main story. The plot and exploration felt a little drawn out at times, but were still both pretty decent. The setting was a really neat idea, and I hope they expand on it somehow in the future.
All in all, it plays out kinda like an anime would. Take that as you will.

I really would have just liked a bare fist weapon and a claw weapon for the mc to complete the weapon sets I understand they wanted your weapons to be police themed but surely there is a claw based weapon they could theme after cops

You're one of the good ones user

>better than DMC5
Yes
>better than Sekiro
Yes
>better than RE2 Remake
That shit was a zoomie bastardized version of the original, hell all three beat it.

I've never seen so much shit taste condensed into one post

A hands down winner

And the whole forced "Capcom is back" narrative that artificially boosted their games

being an idiot doesnt stop you from having an opinion but you are a retard nonetheless

Based

And the fans are even worse

I loved it but it filtered the fags who wanted yet another Platinum action game. This was at least trying something different, with the whole cop approach.

Nice b8

samefag

>so up its own arse
What does that even mean? Are you saying it's pretenious?
LMAO DMC games are some of the most over the top fun games out there they don't take themselves seriously at all
If anything is up its own arse its Astral Chain's story

Just finished this game last night. Any other japanese action cop games out there?

???? What? How is a bow cop themed? How is a giant ass axe lance cop themed? Or sword arms. Only the dog is really cop themed. Plus if you want bare fists just wear the armor legion.

I think he meant for normal melee weapons
