No i don't.

Why are you gay?

I don't think so.

How do you know?

wrong board m8

I am attracted to boob and vagina of girls (female)

Glad I got rid of em fifteen years ago, you have to be out of your goddamn mind to drag one back into the house.

Yes. I have a high-end consumer CRT TV because I didn't fall for the PVM meme. I also connect all of my retro consoles to the TV with composite inputs as the developers and hardware designers intended.

Yeah i just got one.
Ill have to open it up one of these days to adjust the width and fix the corners. Hope i dont die.

Yeah, I took 3 to a recycling center a few months ago and have 2 left, but I'm planning to throw those out too. I see people trying to get rid of these at like every yardsale

No. CRTs are way too fucking large and way too heavy. I just use a $20 LCD from 2005. And that's fine for me, thank you very much.

/vr/ Is only for consoles before 6th gen, some CRT monitors look better than most modern 4K panels.

No. CRTs cause cancer and infertility.

>high score with pikachu not near 2 million

I want one cause I have quite a few old consoles but I don't know anything about them or how to tell a good one vs a bad one. Any resource I can check out or anything like that to get educated? Or which consoles look better with a CRT vs a standard modern tv? Settings per console? For playing video games my whole life I sure know fuck all about non-computer monitor based displays

Of course I do, for playing those old consoles I got.

No, but I do own a HRT.

i do

>PVMeme
Smash 64 was developed using consumer grade CRTs

I'd like to get one but I'm not paying $80 on eBay for a PVM

>some CRT monitors look better than most modern 4K panels
user, no

yes i do, but i want to get rid of it

Guys who say this are probably comparing the high-end professional grade monitors they all like to circle jerk over to the entry-level $100 panels you get at Walmart on black Friday.

Had one for a long time but around 2010 games started to have cut off shit and black bars because of HD so it was time to upgrade

i have a 100 lb trinitron in my basement. i want to play old games on it but the basement is moldy and also im too weak to move it upstairs fuuuck

Yes. I used to own a PVM but I decided to go for a consumer instead due to it being easier to connect to and since it looks more how I remember it.

There's more to a display that just resolution, the color accuracy and depth a crt has is difficult to replicate with lcd panels.

Attached: 020302033.jpg (400x300, 35.62K)

wrong, LED IPS displays are great for colour accuracy, LCD's are also made for rooms that are bright, to get good colour on CRT you have to play in near complete darkness

Imagine being a such zoomer that you don't know that the nit output of even 1970's CRTs outperforms even the brightest OLED out now. The opposite is true. Any modern display falls apart in direct sunlight.

>he says as his crt goes grey/green from a little light

Here’s a pic I took a couple months back of my ips monitor, see how the blacks look black? This is in near direct sunlight

No I don't own a meme tv, I emulate all my games with up scaled graphics on my PC.

This. I was so glad to get rid of that hunk of junk. Having to hit the side of a TV to get it to work is a fun anecdote but not when it's a daily practice.

Why are you playing vanilla smash 64 over pic related?

>HAHAHA LOOK IM SHILLING STOP BUYING CRTS
>PLEASE STOP, NOOOOO!!!!!!!! STOPPP I SAID
never gets old. fucking loser.

You just proved him right.

>paranoid
I have a CRT and I barely fucking use it because most modern non tn panel monitors are great for colour and brightness and CRT shaders are great now, if that’s your thing

No IPS or LCD panel will reach the black levels of a CRT due to always having a backlight on.The backlight is just too hard to block and if you dim it then white output suffers.

I don't and why would I want to?

Stop watching porn

>He thinks being a a sunlit room means direct sunlight.

Let a a beam of direct sunlight hit your screen.

Yes I'm sure if you get the most expensive Sony trinitron pvm it will look better than your average 4k panel for retro games

>That MSpaint Deviant Art
No thanks

Well now you’re just being a moron
Ok? I live in Australia cunt, why the fuck would I care about your shitty market

CRT threads were a thing way before DF jumped on the bandwagon, you pathetic zoomer tranny faggot.

How am I being a moron for saying a CRT holds up better in direct sunlight than any LCD/LED? It's just a fact that CRTs are brighter.

>source: my ass

You’re a moron because you’re saying you put your screen in a beam of light while boasting about it
>yeah my screen works better with massive glare than yours does
Moronic

Why yes. I do have a high-end Sony broadcast monitor so I can play my games the way the developers intended.

Attached: 8xz42inwzzg11.jpg (963x649, 166.99K)

why is it that these CRT threads are always some single male in a back corner of a room with a grody ass room with old furniture and unclean shit all over

No one is saying a pvm looks better than a 4k panel, some CRT monitors do look better than the average modern panel but then you have to deal with custom resolutions if you want everything to scale right for games.

Uh oh

rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/q90-q90r-qled

My old CRT died and i replaced it with an LED. been thinking about getting a replacement CRT for all the retro consoles I own but I dont really have space for a massive TV. have there been any good solutions for digital conversion or upscaling from composite video yet? is there a way to upscale RF for stuff like the atari, colecovision and intellivision?

W-w... WUH-OH!!!

wired.co.uk/article/samsung-g90-tv-review

The Q90 uses a VA panel, and that combined with the direct backlight, local dimming and Ultra Black Elite filter results in a spectacular contrast performance. The filter is new and best described as like putting a black hole in front of the screen, that’s how good it is at absorbing light. As a result, the contrast is awesome and the shadows full of detail, regardless of whether the room is brightly lit or plunged into darkness.

Where do I get a CRT like the one in your image OP?

FUUUUCK UH OHH!!! FUCK!!!

The Q90 delivers one of the best HDR performances we have seen to date, with images that reveal a staggering dynamic range from the deepest blacks to the most brilliant whites. We measured the peak brightness at over 1,600nits, which is twice as bright as any OLED, and the resulting specular highlights are hugely impressive. Crucially, the Q90 delivers the bright parts of the picture without clipping or losing detail in those highlights.

You got fucking demolished! Haha! Guess you need to look up more tech, retard. Still living with mid 2000s knowledge, I guess, eh, chiefy?

6th gen consoles and older look better on a CRT. Smashboards has some good threads about what to look for in CRTs.

>6th gen consoles and older look better on a CRT.

Absolutely untrue. Any console capable of outputting 480p looks stunning and gorgeous on a 1080 or 4k display.

240p also upscales very nicely to 2160p and with proper low input latency scaling like the Retrotink or HDMI modifications, the consoles look better than ever on OLEDs or LCDs.

You can certainly prefer a washed out grainy image on an old CRT but there are far superior ways to play that content nowadays.

Production houses, broadcast companies, hospitals and TV stations. If you want one now and have a lot of money to spend, ebay.

Id say its a mix for 6th gen because most of them had options for component or VGA which makes it much cleaner to run on a modern display. the xbox could even do 1080i in some cases

Wow it only took Samsung 20 years to make a TV that rivals the black levels of a CRT without a visible backlight for $3000.

Agreed, but take it further. 7th gen and older clean up nicely on a 1980s CRT.

What monitor is the bottom one? Buttons look like pvm 2*30 but it's HR and much more modern.

It's 1700 for a 65 inch Q90 on Ebay.

The same price as a 40 inch CRT from the 80s.

A really big Trinitron. Best TV my grandpa will ever buy, he gave it to me a while back.

this got a laugh out of me, thanks user
