That's because Stargate is lame.
there really should have been something to come out of the series. 10 years of sg1, 5? of atlantis, the makings were all there. form a team, equip weapons, travel to different worlds, fight in pyramids and alien ships. it all seems so perfect
>Loads of practical sets and actual squibs when firing guns
>CGI when it is is pretty nice for the time
>Production values stay consistent
>Interesting new take with Norse mythology and greys and other aliens
It's pretty good. Way better than star trek or star wars
>Random foothold situations that require you to storm your own base
I'd rather mow down goold fucking shits in an FPS personally
Quake Champions
Doom: Eternal
Half Life/Black Mesa
you shut your fucking mouth.
stargate was fucking great because of all the practical effects and the love for the detail.
stargate has so much fucking lore its insane. and its all consistent.
fuck xcom would be the best fucking way to make a stargate game.
There was gonna be a Stargate MMORPG once upon a time. Was looking forward to it, don't know why they shut it down.
It needs to have a good golfing minigame
>fuck xcom would be the best fucking way to make a stargate game.
yeah no
if you want best its souls combat
>the introduction to the foothold mission is a story mission based on the rookies episode where they fake a foothold scenario to train them
FUND IT
get the fuck out of this thread
best episode
IN THE MIDDLE OF MY BACK SWING?
Zat vill be aequate.
upgrading weapons, doing missions and shit to acquire different tech, defend village from gould, there's all sorts of different and fun shit they could put. even some "ba'al is on earth so storm this facility" type shit
>and its all consistent
>alien gun where 1 shot stuns
>second shot kills
>three shots disintegrates
>it only does this because the director needed some plausible way for the crew to have hide the wake of bodies they leave while sneaking around
Great.
I fucking love Stargate too user but it wouldn't make a good game.
Bungie clearly used this as an inspiration
That would be a cool game mechanic though. If you are doing a stealth mission and you put ammo limit on the zat you have to judge between using that 2nd shot or not
Why does everyone always want a Stargate Xcom when these threads are made? There's more to Stargate than the military squad structure of most episodes.
Because the Xcom formula would work incredibly well and you can use that as the combat base and still have diplomacy and uncovering new stuff.
I never saw it that way. The sangheili plasma gun looks more like the result of trying to design a weapon for a species with symmetrical hand structure as opposed to having a single thumb on on one side of the hand.
I mean that too, but the instant I saw this I thought of Halo in the show. It looks really close. It's not a bad thing, it's just neat to see where the inspiration probably came from
I think the military squad structure, is the thing that separates it from other scifi.
Because it fits like a glove. you can have research be based on alien tech and even incorporate the airgame at a later stage when world invasions happen. story missions could be done with the og sg1 team or the story could be spun off a new team fresh out of boot. your squads would each get an sg designation and specialize in different things. missions would not only be fighting but could be diplomatic missions or excavation of archeological finds.
theres so much potential in this.
>ammo limit on the zat
Sorry user, but that gun also has unlimited ammo, so it's just the best gun -
>Can incapacitate anything after 1 shot immediately
>No ammo limit
>Fires for miles
>Can it disintegrate fucking ANYTHING? Sometimes it can, sometimes it can't
It's fucking funny to see them use anything but the Zat (their P90s, ect) but the writers understandably didn't want to have to write around it and it was such a mcguffin it had to go.
Because an X-COM like game can facilitate all the elements that the show has
>Exploration
>Base defense and expansion
>Researching and developing weapons and gadgets based on alien tech
It's the perfect kind of game for it with a bit of thought. On top of that there's space battles ect too.
>nu-Xcom clone
>instead of Jagged Alliance or 7.62 with some old-Xcom mixed in
I would just want a Quake clone in the vein of Star Trek Elite Force. Mowing down Goa'uld with a P90 while circle strafing around a field and dodging Death Glider fire would be great.
Skip all early Daniel missions, always buff Teal'c, O'Neil is a decent shot but he's useless at everything else, dump all your points into Carter's engineering tree, by level 20 she can make the rings.
At least we get a GEARS OF WAR xcom.
You know you can do gameplay balance that isnt canon right? Halo does it vs the books canon
Honestly looking forward to it
Bad advice. Bump up Daniels intelligence, knowledge and charisma hes unlocking tons of side objectives by conversing with natives and getting cucked by women.
>Honestly looking forward to it
Yeah, me too, but its only because of a lack of options. Can't believe its going to be a full priced game.
It's on gamepass on release. You can get a month for like a dollar
I got a free 3 months with my CPU. I think id have to pay actual money for a gamepass.
There's one Arma 3 mod that looks promising, unless it's going to be abandoned like all the others before.
But an Stargate XCom game would be a perfect mixture.
I love episodes where they dont take their own frenchise seriously
Maybe not. The ultimate deal is PC/Xbox combo and is I think a dollar right now. I'd see if you can just do that. I think Ive gotten the dollar deal twice now
Even then its like 10 or 5 bucks dude. Just think of it as renting the game for a month and you get a bunch of others. Its not even streaming it's local play
it looks pretty good also it is still in active development.

Anyone ever play around with the stargate mod for Gmod? Fuck that was fun, especially paired with spacebuild.
>Built an asuran gate satellite and wired it up to constantly track my friend, stuck a shield generator on it, and keyed it to hyperspace jump periodically.
>No matter where he goes, the thing pops out of nowhere, powers up shields, dials in, and resumes spewing a neverending stream of death.
>He got mad and banned me from using it.
>Can't get close to his base in my mini-destiny mothership because he's got a fuck-off atlantean shield protecting the space station he built it on and turrets everywhere.
>Gotta use the gate.
>Know he's not using an iris because I've been watching him through the RT camera stuck to my satellite, but I don't know what he's set his gate address to.
>Set up a contraption to automatically lob a clusterfuck of grenades and those bouncing pulse-rifle alt-fire orbs through a gate automatically with a remote signal.
>Move my own mothership into position on the other side of his base from the rigged grenadegate.
>Remote dial myself with the grenadegate, push a warhead halfway through my gate's event horizon and detonate it, causing the wormhole to jump to his gate.
>His base is suddenly full of explosions and bouncing instagib orbs.
Remember when the invisible alien made a defective psychic human to communicate with the SG-1 team? The "mother" followed Jack and we can assume she used Jack's DNA to create the clone. The clone read Jack's mind and found out he had a son and asked to be called he's dead kids name and then asked to live with him. O'neil watched that little boy in front of him.
INT > STR > DEX
The fake stargate show was kino
arma is fucking terrible, the jankiest engine of all time
Reminder that Stargate Atlantis wasn’t that bad
Daniel is only good once Sharea's death happens. Then he unlocks the new talent tree "Fuck Go'ualds" gives +10 in P90's and gives him a significant boost in all Chad stats.
>Arma gets a great halo mod and stargate too
I wish I had friends
it wasnt that bad, but it was many tiers below SG1
Stargate was always shit. The weapons looked retarded, the Egyptian race (goldan or whatever) was gay, and the main characters were lame. Nothing good ever came from stargate
Childhood is idolizing Jack
Adolescence is idolizing Daniel
Adulthood is realizing both have good points at most times
COMPLETELY WRONG
Adulthood is trying to figure out Carter and O'Neil's weird relationship.
Childhood
>Yeah, Daniel is teaching the alien humans how to do things properly!
Adulthood
>Wait, isn't Daniel a massive fucking hypocrite for assuming he knows best and forcing his culture on others while condemning the goa-uld for essentially doing the exact same thing?
why the fuck did daniels actor decide to randomly get buff inbetween those seasons
Highly repressed sexual tension that pops off every single time their military responsibilities are (temporarily) no longer an issue
The difference is that they weren't enslaving other cultures lol
They want to bone so badly but they both respect the uniform too much to ever act on it, as that would be fraternization. You'll notice every single alternate timeline or reality, if one or both of them isn't in the military, they're together. If they're both still in the service, they're not.
In that one groundhog day episode, Jack literally hands Hammond his resignation before kissing Carter.
The military/navy/whatever absolutely loved SG1 for it's depiction of servicemen and women with little details like this, to the point that several actual generals appeared on the show in guest roles.
I think they let him go and then after the fans got pissy, MGM basically forced him back onto the show. Was probably prepping for another role or... y'know, decided to get Yas Forums since he probably already made bank?
I don't think the actor appreciated being the wimp archaeologist. He left for a season or 2 and said he wasn't getting enough things to do.
RDA also got some kind of civilian award from the Military for his portrayal in SG-1.
Ascended gainz son
No, just trying to manipulate them into giving them tech or joining the fight against the goa-uld. Something that's only in the human's interest and comes at a massive potential risk to the civilizations they're trying to recruit.
ah yes, lt titties
I guess that was before the later seasons.
It's kinda ridiculous going back and watching them now how obviously checked out he was in his later appearances, like he stopped even trying to hide it towards the end.
Childhood
