Anyone else feel like they're getting too old for video games? My reflexes are getting so bad that I can barely hit anyone in FPS anymore.
Anyone else feel like they're getting too old for video games...
the CG in this anime sucked so bad I dropped it despite the cool premise
I find myself getting better with age.
You might be burned out, or stressed. Unless you're like 70, reflexes shouldn't be a problem.
Same, it was really frustrating too since there were scenes where the framerate was actually pretty good, then completely tanked in others.
Stop playing CoDshit and play a game that isn't merely a reflex simulator. Then again if you have neurological damage caused by bad diet, unhealthy lifestyle or anything else, it is likely your mental capacity is dropping with your physical capacity.
Old man needs (more?) weed
No. I'm 32 and have actually never been better. I just pure Platinumed Bayonetta the other day and am working on CTR developer times
Why are you trading with those who have superior reflexes? You should have ton of experience over them by now to outmanoeuvre them.
Shooter wise I just play smarter because I know zoomers can outflick me, works fine.
More like I feel like I've long outgrown being the target demographic of any branch of the Triple A market.
I miss the psychological horror games of the PS2 era, old Bioware, old adventure games, etc. Most of what I liked is carried by occasional indies now.
My ability to not suck ass at games seems to fluctuate wildly depending on the day, completely unaffected by age as I was never good at video games to begin with.
Same here. It's not that I outgrew vidya, but that vidya outgrew me.
It's your loss.
>I was never good at video games to begin with
Same, but I'm getting worse.
You actually always sucked, now you just use your age as an excuse.
No. Just play other games.
I want to say no, but I think I've really burnt myself out on most aspects of online multiplayer, which is only growing more and more prominent in this industry.
I loved TF2, Halo, and Left 4 Dead back in the day, but I just don't have the patience or skillset for running and gunning through the same competitive maps over and over in anything anymore.
Fuck that looks bad. Why are Nips incapable of making anything good or worthwhile? Anime was a mistake.
wtf i love western trannymation now!
The worst part is that they still do violent and edgy shows like that, but it doesn't have the attitude of the old 90's OVAs.
its more of a devolution.
Ive always felt like a slow brainlet anytime I consider taking fighting games serious
No clue how the fuck youre supposed to read and react to an opponents attack when shit is coming out in a fraction of a second
Even some of the combos make no fucking sense
How in the fuck do you even perceive stuff like 1-3f links thats literall 1/60th-1/20th of a second
same here, I installed unreall ' 99
masterful bots kicked my ass
a decade ago I would train with godlike bots and it wasnt hard at all
what the fuck happened?
I was able to deal with it for this show but its such a shame they went the CG route for ajin, it's so good in the Manga but I didn't even bother with the anime.
And how old are you?
how old are you?
Most video games frankly suck ass because they're main demographic is children, teenagers and people who just want the same shit they played as children and teenagers.
It has nothing to do with how "childish" they are, just that once you've get to a certain age you've seen most gaming has to offer. Jumping on platforms, shooting stuff in the face, collecting loot; these things are fun the first couple of times you do them but after a certain point you just feel like you're playing the same games with a different coat of paint.
If you want interesting games you have to look at indie games and older titles, but even then most of those things still apply.
I can't parry. I was never able to parry.
>Don't play "game" for a while
>Reinstall "game"
>Don't play as well as when you were at your peak
HMM REALLY MAKES YOU THINK
Developers don't think making competent bots is a worthwhile venture anymore. It's not just AAA boys either, multiplayer bots from top to bottom have stagnated along with many other things over the years.
I think I'm pretty tolerant of CG anime, but I can't stand looking at Kengan Ashua. I was excited for all of 30 seconds.
Games honstly haven't advanced mechanics wise since the 6th Generation. We haven't had anything that put gaming on its head like what would happen back then, it has just been graphics updates and retreads.
It's a shame, because I think video games have a lot of potential that isn't being touched because there's no money in that kind of thing.
My problem with parrying was I never felt pushed to use it outside of the safest of attacks because the potential benefit doesnt outweigh the possibility to eat an attack you could have otherwise dodged
33 yo boomer.
in retrospective, that was quite obvious
I guess its time to step up my game
maybe the real parry was the friends you made along the way
Yeah, i just like really well made single player games, but these are few and far between now.
You are just shit. Git gud, nigger.
I miss well-made single player games with a concise experience, where you can imagine them cutting away more and more until you have nothing left besides what was in the finished product.
Ive felt that way for the last 2 generations
It also feels like theres no "out there" experimental games anymore and everything is some formulated safe bet built to get returns and they try to construct a game within that box
I'm getting a lot better actually. 31 this year, about to finish Doom Eternal in nightmare. I used to get dizzy with headaches when I was way younger when playing any FPS, now I fight like an absolute madman
And what "out there" games there are are just meta-bullshit.
Maybe it's just because I was never particularly good at anything else, but 90% of my strategy in every Dark Souls was hiding behind a shield and rolling behind the boss to repeatedly stab them in the ankle. It worked better for me than trying to memorize the immediate attack patterns of a constantly changing bestiary.
I was much better at parrying in Bloodborne using guns, because I wasn't allowed to hide behind a shield anymore, and the faster-paced style of gameplay seemed better built around it.
>AAA games
That's your mistake
>stop playing games for a while or don't play them nearly as much as you used to do
>"WTF WHY AM I NOT AS GOOD PLYING GAMES ANYMORE FUCK MY AGE!"
I bet you're also surprised that your stamina gets worse if you stop running.
You shouldn't have this be a significant problem until your 60's.
There is something wrong with your lifestyle (not enough sleep or exercise, shitty diet, substance abuse) or health.
Seek medical attention.
It's a mixed bag, because I'll always miss lower budget mainstream games that didn't have to worry about desperately trying to earn back the ridiculous amount of money spent on high-end graphics, but for all its flaws I think the indie market has more potential now than ever before.
>but for all its flaws I think the indie market has more potential now than ever before
I dont dabble in the indie market all that much but I agree that they feel much more higher quality than 10 years ago
This.
Just do something else, you'll eventually want to play games again.
Gravity Rush was my jam.
I just don't really like the current style of open world action games and multiplayer shooters.
Normies are spending their entire days on discord, playing normie tier shit like Fifa and CoD, so why should I feel bad for playing games I like even if I'm a 30 yo working citizen?
Yeah.. I think that's why I've become so keen on video games with emphasis on story in recent years. Unless there's some major leap in innovation, I feel like I've already seen the best of what most mechanical genres have to offer, so a game offering nothing more than another series of linear corridors to shoot my way through doesn't really do anything for me.
A game toting its writing at least has a vague chance of using the medium for storytelling in a creative way.
My eyes get too distracted now by all the clutter and effects in most of the newer FPS titles. My eyes sometimes do this weird thing too where they briefly spasm and lose focus. I’m 28
This. I already know where people are most of the time so I just aim and slice the pie. I can't out twitch a lot of players so I need to rely on aim and gamesense.
This. If you're not interested in shallow, derivative AAA dogshit modern video games have little to offer you.
>premise starts out great
>unique elderly protagonist basically gets overshadowed by a generic psychopath fuccboi
This anime was a letdown.
CG looked silly too.
And there are still a few middle-of-the-road developers trying to do their own thing, they're just less prominently known. You have Greedfall trying to catch that Bioware niche, Plague Tale being a surprisingly good blend of horror themes and third-person stealth/action, Vampyr trying to blend its gameplay and moral choice system in a novel way, etc.
They don't always hit the mark, but I'd rather take a quirky AA game with its own identity over big-budget AAA games that make it their mantra to do nothing beyond appealing to the lowest common denominator.
if you start to suck at FPS just use rocket launchers or LMGs
foolproof way of contributing despite failing aim or reflexes
That shit is such a meme. You're probably in your mid 20s, literally the peak of your physical ability. Unless you're in your 50s your reflexes are not the problem, it's your muscle memory
Also holy fucking fuck I hate these fading captchas so fucking much
>being "good" at single player games
wow grandpa you sure showed us your incredible physical prowess by beating games designed to be beaten
my dad's 41, barely plays video games and still shits on kids in every fps I put in front of him. he's some fucking fps rainman, it's insane. it's definitely not your age OP
>My reflexes are getting so bad
>33
What the fuck? I'm over 40 and my reflexes haven't become THAT bad. Stop doing drugs or getting drunk.
