A game at launch is a game at its peak, nobody spoiled, knowing how to abuse game mechanics. With an extra sense that everything you find, you'll be one of the first to possibly discover it.
You're made to experiment, test and discover anywhere could be a secret you could discover for yourself.
And that's just for single player, any game with multiplayer also has the community. Games get worse as community gets smarter. Don't believe me?
Think of playing Minecraft in 2010, getting full diamond was something that seemed impossible, really rare. Enchantments didn't exist. Factions either didn't exist or wasn't popular at the time. Everyone was fresh, trying to survive, everything you built was at risk, firespread, no rollback. You could lose everything at any moment.
All of these things are an experience you wouldn't have today. Everyone knows what they're doing and the best way to do it.
Mobs will never be a threat, diamond will never be truly rare. And firespread will never be turned on.
It's a finished game. That's what buying a game post launch is. Buying a game that's already completely finished. You might as well start it up and just watch the credits.

I actually could not imagine playing all of BotW on switch or Wii U, I played about 20 minutes of it at launch on a friends switch, then waited a few months to try it on CEMU once they got it working well enough to be worth a damn, even at 1080p 60fps I only made it like an hour past beating my first beast thing. If it was running at the 20fps 720p shit on the switch I don't think I would have made it that far, it's actually mad shit sad when an emulator can run a game better then the console its flagshipping for can, only a few months after it launches, I mean holy shit what a mess.
