Name it. I don't want to be alone in this feeling.

It's current state is Dead, but Tribes Ascend was a fucking greek tragedy. There would probably still be some kind of dedicated community for the game and it would still be alive in some form if HiRez didn't fuck it at every conceivable turn after beta.

I'm sure there's plenty more. You'd think these big AAA companies would have all the research data to give us exactly what we want, and yet they keep trying to find ways to to stop giving them money. Like, how hard is it to just make the same game we used to like? You've already made it before? Just add a new feature or make the graphics better, don't go out of your way to ruin in entirely. What are they thinking. They can be so stupid sometimes.
spore is the quintessential example
Vagrant Story
while i don't hate nurust
old rust was kino
I wouldn't even call it wasted potential, it already achieved its full potential when it came out. The base game was nearly perfect and it just steadily went downhill from there.
Literally, figuratively, spiritually, emotionally, and metaphorically
The Culling.
Grand Theft Auto Online
All those survival games that implemented game-ruining mechanics to pander to their hypercasual fanbase
Rust's new team system may be the worst thing to ever happen to any game ever
>Dragonball FighterZ
Season 3 is pretty great, but I wish they weren't so horny for Goku/Vegeta. Instead of 18 forms of both we could have characters like Toppo, Zarbon, Raditz, Master Roshi, Mr Satan, Tao Pai Pai, Dr Gero, Bulma, Slug, etc. Overall I'd say it's the best DBZ game ever and despite it's wasted potential it could be so much worse.
Interstellar Marines. Gameplay is so good it hurts, but a lack of content and mismanagement from the devs ruined it.

Wait, really ? How bad it is ? I was excited for it and waiting for the full release because I loved Subnautica.

>90% of sci fy and space games
Nothing seems to reach their ambition, why cant i just get a Stellairs/Starsector crossover.
I doubt many of have ever played it but ARK cause they have the worst devs ever seen.

GTA Online, GTA V Singleplayer via DLC, RDR Online, RDR2 Singleplayer via DLC, TF2.
He was so lame Toriyama literally just wrote him out of the story and retconned some new androids
Starbound
I really want to go back to those pre-release hype days for MGSV. Weird ass cinematic trailers dropping regularly, everyone breaking down the trailers and collectively getting excited for it. Then Ground Zeroes drops and we get a small taste that made our imaginations run wild at what the full game would be. It really was a different time then.
Resident Evil 3 remake
Hover: Revolt
It's bullshit they managed to drop the ball so hard on a game inspired by something simple like Jet Set Radio. So close yet so so fucking far
Spore.
Judge away, I fell for the meme in 2010.
Tyranny.
The game literally stops when you're finally as powerful as the guy that they hype up as this invincible conqueror god. Imagine playing a Dragon Ball game that abruptly ends when Goku became a Super Saiyan, and you didn't get to fight Frieza to test your new powers.
tarkov or dayz
r6siege, For Honor. Ubisoft is the king of good ideas executed as poorly and lazily as possible
The borderlands series. Had interesting concepts but doubled down on all it’s faults.
>tarkov
it's literally not even halfway finished. not figuratively, but literally. the game will be wildly different in its final version, if it ever reaches that point. they plan to add factions, karma, make all the maps into one giant map, give tangible in-game locations to traders and the hideout, etc. it's supposed to be a giant mmofps.
>expecting all that shit from unity engine
Rainbow Six:Siege totally fits in this category.
Also maybe TF2.
shenmue 3
star citizen
>all that shit
the only unrealistic idea they have is merging all the maps together. i have no idea how they plan to do that, it will probably be a disaster if they ever try.
karma, factions, putting traders/hideout on the map and everything else is shit that's been done for decades and is trivial to do. as janky as it is, Tarkov has a few unique systems that I applaud BSG for pulling off. shame it's an unoptimized piece of russian jank
