breaking the summon limit was the reason why cards like Ultimate summoning, wotbf, and sengan all ate the ban. future fusion was partly to put a really good monster on the field but also because it broke the summon limit at basically no cost.

It's because they didn't want to errata it or ban Firewall Dragon. Then they banned Firewall Dragon anyway. But also, you can FTK your opponent with a decent setup using it because there's no limit on how many times you can Special Summon a turn. It's actually Unlimited in the TCG.

it's pretty strange that given the legacy support he got as red-eyes cards, Time Wizard and Thousand Dragon havent had the Red-Eyes treatment, I mean Baby Dragon got a Red-Eyes counterpart in RE Baby and it even uses it's same pose, hell even fucking Kunai with Chain got a Red-Eyes counterpar before stuff like the dices, Chasm of Spikes, Graverobber Alligator's Sword or fucking Flame Swordsman
