I actually kind of agree with this. A lot of people on Yas Forums just seem so hateful for some reason. I mean theres the occasional thread where we get along and bond over things or reminisce about things but the majority of the time its alot of self pity,arguing and just being dicks to each other. you get stuck in this negative thought loop and start to think like people here. everyday it seems like theres something your all angry about. I wish I could leave this place but I dont know where else to go. I wish we could all just get along and be happy.

2011 newfag here - been doing okay for spending 9 years in this shithole.
I have a master of architecture degree (all loans paid off), work a steady job in that industry pulling in nearly 60k a year before taxes, 401k, and health insurance. I've bought a house and a brand new car in the past year, not to mention spoiling myself with various things, and until the rona, traveling.

The only thing missing from my life is a gf and most of a social life. But I have a dog to keep me from feeling too lonely, and active. Pic unrelated.

Problem is that's supposed to be Yas Forums. And it was until a few years ago. Yas Forums is for Vidya, not spazzing.

There is a bit of similarity, but it doesn't have nearly the same effect in terms of influencing prominence of posts as up/downvotes.

The presentation. For example, you can't reply to multiple posts with a single post. The longer a reply chain goes, the more likely it is that posts start to be hidden. It's a format that is very poor for reading the comments as a source of generalised discussion, instead favouring quippy, one-off comments.

I've been here for 12 years. I can't go back to gaming forums. I got my account suspended from gamefaqs for 3 months because I implied that a character might possibly die in FF7R. Though really I think it was because one of the mods didn't like me. I don't get banned 3 months for stupid shit like that here.

I haven't used Gamefaqs since early 2000's. I left it because I couldn't stand the userbase anymore. reddit is just fucking dogshit. I gave it a try several times over the years but I can't stand the pretentious community. It feels like everyone there speaks the same way, explains things with gobs of text what could have been explained in a sentence or two, and it always seems like they're toeing the line because of the upvote and downvote system, and most of all, I find them just as negative and unsufferable as Yas Forums (I'm talking about the gaming subreddits for the most part).
