Except it has the most beautiful setting in the series, good gameplay for a JRPG, and the writing is less cringe than most JRPGs, not twice as bad.
>and the writing is less cringe than most JRPGs
Great scene.
Actually, that was a pretty good scene. In 2003 or whatever year I played it when Yuna told him to try laughing, I wasn't really expecting him to be all goofy like that. But it was a nice little part to break up the broody little talk they just got done having about needing to smile for the sake of others to give them hope
X-2 wasn't that bad
>Except it has the most beautiful setting in the series
no, ff9 does.
>good gameplay for a JRPG
it has worse gameplay than its own sequel.
>and the writing is less cringe than most JRPGs

>no, ff9 does.
Oh god, a FF9fag. I'm out.
Nothing wrong about that scene.
>Oh god, a FF9fag. I'm out.
>it has worse gameplay than the FF game with the best gameplay
Okay? So what?
FF9 has the best gameplay
it's supposed to be a forced laugh. only retards don't understand the context
Everyone here knows that isn't true. Why bother?
No, it really isn't. XIII is shit, X isn't.
You might want to admit it now. You are an aspie if you can't see the irony of the scene.
I think that's what they were going for.
lightning returns has better gameplay, ff7r has better gameplay, type-0 has better gameplay, world of final fantasy has better gameplay, ff5 has better gameplay, etc.
ffx's gameplay is unremarkable. it's not awful, it's not great, it's just there.
>ff7r has better gameplay
Stopped reading here.
>it's SUPPOSED to be shit!
>This game is literally just like Final Fantasy XIII.
That explains why X is one of my favorite games of all time and I absolutely loved the XIII Trilogy.
The gameplay is nice, it's just a story issue.
It's a lot better, but yeah, it's when you could really see that there were going to be problems. I know that everyone sucks it off nowadays, but opinion on it was much more divided in the early 2000s. Same with FF XII, really.
Forgettable characters, linear progression, shit magic system, shit overall plot, meh combat. Only good thing with this was the music.
I saw this scene recently listed as an example of bad voice acting. I have to wonder what kind of retard you have to be to not understand what's going on in that scene.
FFXII was a legitimately good game so it's no surprise that people eventually came around.
It's a game with a lot of good ideas, but it is so boring to play. And it's mostly nostalgiafags and people who already like it that make it seem like the general opinion has shifted.
ffx is the wind waker of final fantasy. boomers knew it was a turd from the moment square shat it out. zoomers defend it because it was their childhood game.
That's an issue with dubbing, not writing. Fucking dipshit
>but it is so boring to play
Can't agree with you there
Also, why would nostalgiafags care for it if they didn't already like it? Besides, people who already liked it wouldn't make it seem like anything happened as they already liked it. Face it. More people appreciate the game now (as they well should)
>Also, why would nostalgiafags care for it if they didn't already like it?
You're missing the point something fierce. The people who played it as young children are the adults who now have great deals of nostalgia for it. The game is going on 14 years old.
It literally is you autistic retard.
It's basically like Metroid Fusion, in that it did a few strange things that aren't a huge issue in the game itself, but those things led to a much shittier game later down the line. And also like Metroid Fusion, it's a good game that excels in atmosphere/music.
Are you sub 80 IQ?
Gee, I wonder if perhaps it could be because we got the zodiac edition that changed one of the biggest complaint as well as a PC release so it could hit a whole new group of people.
Nah, must just be nostalgia!
top 3 FF desu.
Basically it's FF13 done RIGHT.
I've always hated this fucking game. Probably because I wasn't a teenager when I first played it.
Tidus is too much a chad to be relatable.
I got two of my friends to play up to the laughing scene.
One says its the worst game he ever played and the other said its cool. They both said they'll play to the end since I won a previous bet. But I dont think it holds up like people think
The voice actor of Tidus actually has a couple of videos online explaining that the scene is supposed to be like that and even shows the old script he kept.
>the writing is less cringe than most JRPGs
Not even shittalking the game as a whole but everyone in FFX is autistic as fuck
Except it's completely different and was made by completely different developers...
>no, ff9 does.
You have rocks in your head. The last act is a fucking dumpster fire.
He said setting not plot
>it has worse gameplay than its own sequel.
Sequels are supposed to get better...
Except the characters, story, and optional content are actually good for the most part. I'll never understand how XIII fanboys cope like this.
Just like Zidane.
>But I dont think it holds up like people think
Baed off a womping sample size of two?
this shit is so jokeresque vines nowday
wtf I love Tidus now?
>optional content are actually good for the most part
I want you to name me a single optional thing in FFX that was good other than Blitzball, which is also still highly debatable.
*based
FFX was good, but it was the start of the "downfall" with the whole no-overworld-map thing
then XII was actually really good even though enough people disliked it at launch
then XIII and on were was when FF really died
although, i do kind of want to get into FFXIV just to run around with other people and stuff
What was wrong with XIII? I haven't played that one yet.
i somewhat enjoyed XIII, but it really wasn't "final fantasy" anymore
except the writing is better because you can actually understand what's going on during the 1st playthrough.
Hard agree. This man is right and based. Half the cast of FFX is cringe at best. At least Sazh had a believeable struggle.
A lot less than people will generally lead you to believe, at least if you put any stock into narrative. There's a lot of things they did wrong gameplay wise, like the first 3/4 of the game being a giant tutorial. There's not a whole lot of variation on how to play the game, but I don't think it's much different from mashing the attack button when you're grinding in an older title.
The character development and theme are the best of any FF, mostly because of the philosophical aspects. The general plot was unfortunately hidden in walls of text that no one wants to read. If strong protagonists are what turn you on, it's a genuinely fine game. I wouldn't put it anywhere near the best or the worst of the franchise.
>sazh
hey, do you also think the first FFXIII was an allegory for 9/11?
I've never heard this before and never thought of it that way. Sounds silly.
It's just a fate vs destiny story but with intriguing character backgrounds.
There's some cool ideas going on with the combat system, but the game takes 20+ hours before it does anything interesting with it. In those 20+ hours the level design is hallways and the story's pacing is just fucked, on top of being pretty dumb just on a surface level.
>Bad guy tells you you're doing exactly what he wants you to, and while the whole game's theme is about defying fate, they do exactly what the bad guy wants them to.
There's an alright game in there somewhere, but you have to trudge through a very long early-game borefest to get there, and at that point I wouldn't say it's worth it. Looks nice and the soundtrack is damn good at least. XIII-2's is even better
Monster arena
Ultimate weapons
Dark aeons
>completely different developers...
they're both by SE
It takes longer for a battle to start than it does to read this thread
Hes going to bullshit like none of that is fun
