If he was a prodigy with a sword then how come he washed the fuck out of his SOLDIER class? On a side note the SOLDIER sword is pretty cool, odd that they didn't model it in-game and instead went for that weird lance that probably wasn't considerably lower poly, given that the concept art for it existed at the time.
It dates back to the PS2 era where people called him out on putting too many belts on his designs and he responded by adding even more belts, because Nomura is a childish asshole. You could take it as a chad move if most of his designs didn't suck, particularly in the FFX era.
