They can still go back and play those games at any time.
Most people around me didn't have internet until mid to late 2000's so the social aspect wasn't detrimental to their experience during that time.
There's also the upside of some of the better games from that time like Thief, Xenogears, Parasite Eve and Grim Fandango not having big mainstream followings online that vomit garbage twitter content or lazy Yas Forums wojack and frog edits.
