Did it surprise anyone? DoW2 wasnt a bad game but it felt like it didn't belong in the same franchise. Only made sense that 3 was just as bad about it. Last Stand is the only reason I play DoW2 anyway though, which is also drastically different, but in a way that wasn't shite.

Imagine being an Eldar in 40k. What am absolutely wretched existence. You never get a single win on your own, the closest is mutual draw or being sidekick to somebody else. Your big borderline daemon super-unit is constantly being beaten, shot, or trampled to death by the regular chads of other factions. You have millennia of training, practice, and experience and it means jack shit because the moment something gets into melee range you're going to get disemboweled, even if you're one of the melee-oriented warriors.
And in the end you're post-death options are either the crystal retirement home (until you get pulled out to go die on a backwater) or the eventual literal vore Hell.
