Before you start prime 1, do yourself a favor and look up a vid of the original title screen/file select menu. It's so fucking cool, I have no idea why they removed it for the collection.

All of the Prime menus were awesome, and that includes the Trilogy version.

It’s pretty generic, especially until the twist(s) but Samus spells it out herself in one of the early elevator monologues; Adam is a cold and calculating machine. It’s not flowery or soulful but I don’t think these characters are exactly poets either.
Samus comes across as absurdly vulnerable though. It’s effective writing but the schizophrenic depictions of Samus’ personality definitely started with Fusion

She comes off as a whiny baby. She bitches and moans when adam gives her shit and just makes the most pointless remarks about adam multiple times. Her weaker armer and lack of abilities establishes her vulnerableness far better than whatever the fuck she was rambling on about.
Also why have this adam character? samus has to explain how he was like before and explain how he wasnt like this which is a baffling storytelling decision. he doesnt even come off as particularly artificial.
I really enjoy the game but these monologue scenes n dialog scenes are just so annoying to sit through because the text moves so slow and its unskppable.

The main menus of each game were removed for the Trilogy and replaced with a unified menu based mostly off of Prime 3's. This way you're not selecting a game from a main menu then going into another main menu from there to select a file to play on. Instead you've got one main menu with three files from which you can jump into each game directly.

Inside the arm cannon isn't quite as kino as inside a metroid, but it's pretty alright.

I preferred it to zero. Pushed forward in it's own direction instead of just being a stripped down version of super.

I'd say the vulnerability works in Fusion as Samus is put into a vulnerable situation, stripped of her arsenal in a space station filled with deadly parasites that try to outmaneuver you at every turn, with one of them hunting you down in your fully-equipped suit from the previous installation. It's meant to be an oppressive atmosphere (that you inevitably overcome). With Adam I got an implication of mutual respect towards each other from the backstory spelled out in Fusion and when Adam comes to his senses at the end of the game.

Other M pushes the vulnerability to an absurdist degree that can't even be compared. Fusion still felt like you were Samus, weakened in a physical sense. It would make sense that she felt vulnerable in that situation, but not enough to be a detriment to her character. Other M fucks up in that regard, butchering her character to try and make her seem vulnerable even though she just came back from blowing up Zebes fully equipped in her gear she acquired from Super Metroid, having a PTSD episode from facing Ridley even though she fought him several times before.

Before I got into Metroid, I thought Other M took place at the beginning of the timeline from what I heard. It's ridiculous to see that characterization of Samus come right after Super Metroid.

Every other metroid anything presents the Chozo as her surrogate parental figures
Not even Fusion presented Adam as anything resembling a father figure, he was a trusted CO and possibly even friend but nothing along those lines

Don't panic and missile spam, relax and actually time your shots as he goes over you and it's actually easier.

It's a pain in the ass to actually hit it in it's mouth. That's always been one of my least favorite boss fights in Fusion.

missile spamming is the best way to kill it, you just need to not get hit much during the first phase

I just ignore Other M's existance, it just doesn't fit with any of the 2D games, doesn't even fit with SR which actually fits with the other 2D games.

There's also the matter that Fusion handled the Samus/ Adam relationship better. Samus is incomprehensibly powerful but looks at the little picture. Adam isn't as powerful but has a clear view of the big picture. So when Samus, in an emotional outburst, states that she will keep the X out of Federation hands by blowing the ship up along with herself, Adam acknowledges that she's correct but offers more efficient solution. Each has what the other doesn't which makes you buy that together Samus and Adam would be unstoppable.

In Other M Adam is an asshole and Samus is an idiot and Adam shoots Samus in the back for no reason and then he dies.

Avoid getting directly underneath it until you have a full charge beam, then unleash it and follow up with a missile.

Other M doesn't even fit with itself. The Feds sent Adam's team in to investigate what happened on the Bottle Ship but then also planted the Deleter to kill anyone who discovers what happened on the Bottle Ship. Why not just not send Adam's team at all? Why allow Samus to be there. Just say that this is a federal investigation. It literally is! Why is everyone so stupid?

Samus Returns does have the weakest atmosphere but the combat and boss fights are by far the best in the 2D series

This, they had a good chemistry established at the end of Fusion. Too bad we probably won't get to see more of this Adam due to Other M's reputation. They'll probably find a way to cut him out of future installments altogether, if we ever manage to get there.

Meh debatable. The Metroid fights get very repetitive and there's only two unique bosses aka the Diggernaught and Ridley. Which are okay if a bit long.

One thing I hate about fusion is samus having the physique of a gorilla, doesn't really give any impression of being femine.
