Remind me again, why does the zoomer hate shooters that take skill?
Remind me again, why does the zoomer hate shooters that take skill?
they dont.
>quack hampions
>skill
quake champions was so mishandled, it didn't even use an id tech engine
don't blame "zoomers" for it failing
because shit games like overwatch teach them to instantkill someone not after getting good score fast without dying but waiting for cooldown like a bitch
requires more skill than any new A/AA/AAA release out there like Whalerant.
and this, everything was at least alright (balance philosophy, design, graphics, gameplay) besides engine and netcode which was a one big clusterfuck thanks to Saber Interactive.
People don't hate skill based games, but when your players numbers are too low or your matchmaking too bad it can cause people to not get matched up of equal skill, causing frustration (low skill) and boredom (higher skill).
What people want are even matches, not steamrolls.
>requires more skill than any new A/AA/AAA
Not Titanfall 2
Because zoomers are shit at games and are also pansies. Skill based shooters are half mentality and when you’re scared or intimidated you lose, which is why the best players are always older. QC is the best skill based shooter out there right now.
This. If it wasn't outsourced to vodkaniggers it might have had a chance, but instead you have a solid arena shooter with everything around it being absolute shit that the vast majority of people can't be bothered tolerating. Terrible menu UI, framerate stuttering, horrible matchmaking wait times, dogshit netcode, lootbox bullshit, I could go on. It annoys me to think about what it could have been if they just worked on it in house. Fuck, they could have added a normal arena shooter mode to DOOM, but for some reason they didn't and opted for battle mode to be it's one and only PvP component.
This. Even if you're not that skillful, but you keep your cool, you'll keep succeeding. Always blame the parents of the new kids, they are to blame.
Why are 99% of quake fans larpers and why do the actual players hardly touch duel and only play casual garbage modes like ffa and ca?
Quake requires much more skill. Gameplay is based heavly on projectiles (which already rises skillfloor by alot) while Titanfall uses alot of hitscan weapons.
If you faggot at least brought Tribes Ascent to the conversation then we could talk.
that one still hurts physically desu
youtube.com
don't waste your time, they will never understand this
>another contrarian faggot seething over the success and acclaim Eternal is getting
Lol at you, gay nigger
lack of attention span wich is why they dont want to learn or get better
its not even just videogames, try playing Monopoly with a zoomer, they will be asking 20 times per game why they need to pay tax on your property
It's not skill that's the issue with quack baconions.
>Login takes an entire fucking age
>Matchmaking takes up another 2 or 3 eons to find a match
>play for 5 to 10 minutes in a match
>Game boots everyone back to the main menu
>Have to load up everything up again
It's an exercise in wasting time. Just give us a better interface and a dedicated server list and there will be an end to the suffering.
What? If anything Eternal got more people back into Quake Champions (like me).
he was brought up with instant gratification participation trophies mentality.
The only good or interesting things about quake are
>time limit duels
>defrag
Everything else is casual shit or just plain boring. Quake is a horrible team game and most quake players are losers that don’t even play duel, ranked duel is not time limit duel and wait times are tremendous.
You answered your own question. Because they require skill.
>requires more skill than any new A/AA/AAA release out there
There is one new AAA shooter that's comperable
>zoom 2016
>zoom eTURDnel
>needing skills
LMAOING @ YOUR LIFE M8 AHAHAHHAHAHAAHAHAHHAHA
>"You're not a REAL Quake fan unless you play this particular gamemode exclusively!"
99% of Quake fans ARE "casuals". Most of them are quakedads who just want to boot up Quake, load into a 24/7 CA server and shoot the shit with other quakedads while rocket jumping at mach 5 after work. Hardly anyone who sings the praises of Quake are aspiring career duelists hoping to come up against fucking Rapha on the big stage one day.
Anyway, Quake's most casual modes still have a higher skill ceiling than most, if not all shooters on the market today. Both FFA and CA require you to have a good understanding of the game's mechanics to get anywhere against it's old and experienced playerbase, and in FFA if you really want to tryhard you can start timing items to give yourself an advantage.
CA does get fucking bland after a while and I much prefer FFA, which means I kinda suffer here in Australia since all the quakedads play CA almost exclusively. Nice guys, though.
FFA is good bro
CA and FT can suck my nuts tho, boring as hell
>Doom Eternal
>multiplayer
might as well bring Soulsborne genre to the talk.
You’ve got it backwards. Retard purists are usually larping zoomers that don’t play the games or suck at them. Most people that like to play Quake like playing all the various modes.
dunno user
Fortnite is literally an arena shoter.
>most quake players are losers that don’t even play duel
You're sitting here being an elitist for exclusively playing a gamemode in a dead genre, calling people who are probably having more fun than you losers.
OP just said shooters, he didnt specify multiplayer or not.
it was implied by Ranger pic which is multiplayer icon for years but I guess you're also right.
How's Diabotical doing? Any news on if and when it'll be open beta?
OP said shooters that take skill, user. I guess he should've asked why zoomers are afraid of reading as well kek.
What is the point of technical skill in games?
what is it that we are trying to achieve?
Were trying to give the player a lot of control and sometimes that requires many button presses.
Ideally the player would just want the char to do something and it would, dispensing with any need to muscle memorize any key combinations.
So, if we can minimize key usage and maximize character control we have achieved out goal.
Technically challenging games that rely on demanding the player to use very compelx and rapid key presses should be avoided when possible.
They are a consequence of out desire to give the player a lot of control, not an objective in an of themselves.
>larpers
really because its "cool" to say that youre playing the most skillful fps
like that suparetarded guy with the tripcode.
>actual players hardly touch duel and only play casual garbage modes like ffa and ca
because casual modes are more fun and not everyone is an autist
but if you wanna duel i'm down any day
Because "taking skill" pauses the feel of natural progression instantly. And after that instant clarification you know you're done for even if you're a decent player.
That's why only arena autists play these games anymore. You simply have no chance against them even if you make it halfway through the ladder. I ain't complaining, I love these games too but there comes a time when you know that you're simply shit and start thinking about leaving. You can't do the Guinness world record book shit that others do. You just die in half a second you see someone.
Beta at the earliest is in June the last couple tests were for a casual playlist and hopefully in June we'll get more competitive stuff like Macguffin and proper ranked Duel
Maximum maneuverability, speed, action, and fun.
You may think having to constantly twirl around while skipping around at 100kms/hr and using crouch sliding to make turns faster is too much but once you get into the groove you won't want anything else.
>what is it that we are trying to achieve?
this and flexibility of gameplay
youtube.com
you can't do such things in other games
Apex Legends requires 10 times more skill than quake and zoomers love it
I downloaded this game and waited 25 minutes on a queue to get into a game before uninstalled it.
Skins look cool though. I wish It wasn't dead, I love Quake since the first one.
Your post is worded in a way that would lead one to believe it was contradicting my statements when it in fact does not do that at all.
>Apex Legends
Apex Legends is -1000000000x less skillful than Tittyfall even kek
>perfect example of a maneuver that requires a lot of precise movements but could have actually been implemented into the game without them.
Just allow the player to go fast.
If Team Fortress 2's community is anything to go by. We don't.
It's not our fault that the vast majority of playable shooters aren't really that skillful. Blame the market for that; and blame consoles for that.
Thx you for buying godamn Halo until the whole industry decided to adapt to that you fucking boomers.
What you are proposing is to limit the variation in the movement and thereby limiting the range of skills. That's the opposite of what we want.
I've got CS to scratch the comp itch, such is life. My only regret is that Action Quake 2 died and the only servers you get right now are from Finland.
no, what your limiting is simply the technical requirments which after they have been learned put you on the same level on which you would have been if the movement was simply implemented directly into the game.
You want artificial difficulty to feel like youve accomplished something.
Why is that only Euros have taste in FPS games?
Every time it's some ancient game, only Euros are playing or hosting servers
been lurking
here's the rundown:
>rockets are being moved to fully server side, shotgun getting a proper cut cone spread, where it isnt better than railgun at medium range.
>'edge' bug where rockets dont do any damage if the player is up a stair step or standing on small lip is fixed
>maps are being made for CTF, TDM and MacGuffin
>MacGuffin (Sacrifice) being implemented and playtested in closed alpha.
>MacGuffin will have asymmetrical maps just like how Sacrifice was in QC.
>James said he really liked the mode in QC, and it's also a blast to watch, and it's a shame that its not getting supported by idsoft.
>Practice lobbies will be working continually, so you'll be playing FFA during ranked queues to warm your aim up/stay warmed up between games.
>FFA will no longer be queue-able, but you can stay in the practice lobby for as long as you want.
>Custom lobby system improved, a lot more customization options, bordering almost full server variable usage from QL/Q3.
>Things like movement physics (cpm,vq3,slide,pk), self/team damage, weapon restrictions, allowpowerup, etc...
>Matchmaking condensed into playlists, so you dont have to pick 8-10 different modes, and the playerbase isnt playing on 8-10 different modes.
>arcade playlist: bow instagib, goldrush, normal instagib, freezetag, (infected mode), mode vote and map vote
>ranked team playlist: 3v3 wipeout, 3v3 TDM, 3v3 MacG, mode vote and map vote.
>unranked wipeout4v4 queue
>ranked duel queue
>ranked a1v1 queue
>(unranked duel queue)
parenthesis = tentative
shittons of engine improvements, like smoke weeballs, rocket knockback, lg knockback, better CPU usage, map editor improvements
Shit nigger, Titanfall 2 is a casualized version of Titanfall 1.
You're seeing things from a noob's perspective. You want what the pros have and you are saying "gimme". The problem is that if you do that the variation of the game suffers and so does its tactics. There needs to be a variability in gameplay. Things must be able to go slow, things must be able to go fast, and things must be able to happen in between. This is what keeps the action interesting and variable. If you standardize the movement and skills too much, you end up with a boring game like Overwatch that no one wants to play.
> I downloaded this game and waited 25 minutes on a queue
It shouldn't be that long if you select at least one popular game mode like TDM, unless you live in a 3rd world shithole like Australia
I really have no idea. The only thing I can think of is consoles being more popular than PCs in America. I think that Halo is more nostalgic for Americans but you'd have to ask a Burgeranon for that.
Higher intelligence
Tittyfall 1 is even deadder though, unfortunately
I am a burger
I have nostalgia for stuff like Wolf ET and the like, and of the Halos only Combat Evolved
Reminder.
What is this reminding me of?
Why do boomers so desperately want people to like their boring ass shooters like doom and quake? Your games are irrelevant and forgotten. This is like if some boomer kept going on and on about how everyone who likes RPGs needs to play Wizardry and Ultima. Nobody cares, next thread.
It's pretty dead, but not THAT dead. I played TDM yesterday with relatively nitpicked zones and it varied between 2-5 minutes.
You should always check your matchmaking zones if you are having trouble. I know the game doesn't really tell about it but ehh..
That Visor deserves to get fragged for not using sight.
The game is dead all content that's being released was leaked a long time ago but new characters like raine and Hunter aren't coming out cause they never finished developing them
Honestly this game is less dead than Left4Dead2 or Doom: Eternal's Battlemode lobby. I am always able to find new matches basically any time of the day.
>all content that's being released was leaked a long time ago
None of the content in the last patch was leaked.
>waited 25 minutes on a queue to get into a game
There's a reason they went the Team Fortress 2 route. Not everyone has the same level of aiming and decision making as the best ones who played arena games in the 90's. It's about the brain, not about the availability of games. Most people are simply shit at these games and developers catered to them.
There were also a lot less players back then than there are now. Most of the new ones are SHIT at precise arena games. That's why they don't like these oldschool games where only and ONLY the best survive and actually achieve something which is pretty natural in my opinion.
I would be boring to watch if everybody pushed one button and gain the same speed. The game would be too predictible to watch and to play.
There are alot of variables when comes to strafejumping
>youtube.com
but it requires up to 15 minutes to get basics and do it by yourself.
Really.
The rest is just skillceiling to weave different technics into one optimal where lies the real fun.
Sometimes there are situations where you can't simply do some technic so you are forced to do a different one.
Like cutting corners with crouchsliding where using strafe jump would lose you alot of speed, but crouchsliding would be just shitty to just move fast in one direction. It makes way less boring gameplay while you are looking for enemy. If there was just "press button to move fast" it would be likely handicapped artificially by cooldown to not become abusible. Look no further than Overwatch, Paladins and recently Valorant.
Halo was an achievement of how a shooter can be ported into a console. Why on earth would you blame that PC shooters now emulate Halo when it was never meant to be on PC?
>he says while posting a Overwatch clone with a Quake coat of paint
lmao
>Why on earth would you blame that PC shooters now emulate Halo when it was never meant to be on PC?
Iunno, why do they?
T: never played it or Quake 3
>implying Overwatch was ever a thing
