This isn't true at all. Lionhead killed themselves when Peter Molyneux left. Playground hasn't been destroyed because Microsoft acquired them. Minecraft has only gotten better since Microsoft acquired them. InXile is getting kino, Obsidian is getting better and Compulsion is getting better.

Triple A games don't sell as well in Japan as smaller AA games such as Yakuza and animal crossing. Those Dark Souls games sales wise are trash in Japan, while Animal Crossing is selling like crazy.

Even in the US those nintendo games do a lot better than those final fantasy games. That final fantasy 15 mobile game makes more money in Japan than final fantasy 15. Microsofts focus in Japan is going to be smaller quirky games they could push out every 2-3 years.
