People hear there's a new console generation coming out, meaning you need a new console for the upcoming next-gen games. Doesn't matter if Resident Evil 8 or FF16 is multiplat, no one will suddenly go out and buy a PC. People will always buy the easy and cheaper choice.
And the only options are PS5 and XBox, since the Switch can't even run most current gen games.
And Sony simply has a way bigger fanbase than microsoft, so people that already have a PS4 will buy a PS5, regardless of specs or price.

xbox has no exclusives. the 360 only got big because of the early release and how cheap it was compared to the ps3. Later on in the generation the ps3 caught up because of exclusives which the 360 lacked.
