This has ruined other games for me. Every other action game either feels too slow, too simple or too easy. This game has the perfect balance of having the player feel insanely powerful and giving you a ton of tools to play around with while still pushing back at you really hard. I can't think of a game with better and more varied enemy design. Doing Ultra Nightmare legitimately is an actual challenge. I feel like I've mastered the game (doing nightmare normally is a cakewalk) but I still feel like I could get so much better at it. I feel like I'm going to be playing this for years. Its the most mechanically well-designed game ever made, in my opinion.

Now you should get into Quake Hampions or even the egg game.
When will we see the rush of Doom Eternal clones? SOMEONE has to see the immense success this game had and try to pump out a cash-grab imitation
thank you for the butt
just get into devil may cry and other action games
its a different genre but still the same feel
I plan to at some point. Honestly Ive tried most of the big ones but I've never really been able to get into them. I did play DMC5 but my issues with it were that it was way too easy on the first two difficulties and that DMD mode just felt more tedious than anything else. I specifically remember the armored knights just taking so long to kill to the point where I would only die because I'm simply trying to get the fight over with as fast as possible because im so bored of wailing on them. I also finished DMC3 but the enemy design in that game was just really lackluster. Final Vergil fight was great though. Overall didn't enjoy it all that much. Ironically my problem with Bayonetta was the torture attack animations. I'm not huge on glory kills either but at least they literally only take like half a second to get over with and don't also force you to button mash.
i was never a bayonetta person but i love devil may cry, but hey if its not for you its not for you
Is it good then? I thought Yas Forums hated it.
pirate it
I actually loved DMC5 even though I had my issues with it.
if Yas Forums says a game is shit, make sure you do your own research before believing them. look at reviews, pirate it, do whatever.
I just really wish there was an online co-op horde survival mode or some shit mothafucka. FUCK. It would be so fuckin' sick. Fuckin' cyberdemons and crazy shit coming out at you, new versions of enemies, fuckin' icon of sin coming back at you way harder since you have multiple players. I would fuckin' DEVASTATE.
This game is going to have support for the next two years. They'll probably add more modes at some point. The demand is obviously there.
is there a way to turn down the muzzle flash on the heavy cannon? I can barely see when I fire this shit.
Shut the fuck up you fuckin' retard.
I wouldn't compare Doom Eternal to action games. There is a reason people get mad about the Marauder as he is the only enemy you can't just shoot at until it dies.
Here's some action games I'll be replaying way more than this fps.

OP here. I don't want an autistic faggot like you shitting up the thread. I'm going to ignore posts that are clearly from you and I encourage everyone else to do the same.
Honestly, I don't think there's going to be. Game publishers only tend to have that kind of rush over games that are successful when they're SUPER successful. Like, generation defining, beginning of an era in gaming history type successful (WoW, COD MW, Destiny, Fortnite, etc.). It's when people who don't give a shit about video games can't stop talking about it is when publishers try to copy that game to basically chase it's clout. Doom Eternal doesn't come close to having that kind of success right now (as much as I love it to pieces), and I feel like even if it did, I doubt there'd be a modern wave of "doom clones" because, well, it's DOOM. You can't really effectively chase the tail of something that's never stopped being relevant in the history of the medium. That would be like trying to coattail off of the success of Mario because Odyssey sold well.
>Souls shit BOSS
Every time. Marauder is not a boss, but a common enemy. Completely trivial if no one else was around.
I didn't say he's a boss nor did I say he's not trivial. Yet people complain, because he's the only enemy in the game that makes you play by his rules.
If you played sekiro you would know that it plays nothing like souls.
Replace Destiny with Skyrim
I hoped that was going to happen with Doom 2016 when it came out, but it's been 4 years and we got nothing, except for the sequel. Rage 2 kinda tried to learn a bit from Doom, I guess, but that doesn't count.
Every time I have any hope for anything cool happening in the vidya industry I'm terribly disappointed, so I guess I should learn my lesson and abandon all hope.
Destiny was already a copy, it's Borderlands that was the original looter shooter.
People complain because they are fucking stupid. I'm sorry to be blunt but its true. He makes you do everything the game already asks you to do. Move quickly and think on your feet. The FIRST thing I thought to do when he pulled up his shield was to use splash damage against him. Its literally video-game logic 101. People hate him because they think the only way to fight him is by waiting for his counters, which is completely and obviously false yet somehow some of these people are retarded enough to think they are right.
That just spawns a dog in most of cases
Nigger, that is also false. The only way he spawns his dog is if projectiles hit his shield. This is easily proven because you can see him spawn dogs even when enemy projectiles hit his shield. If you use remote detonate rockets behind his back, he will never spawn a dog. What you will find is he will either dash away, or get faltered, which gives you an opportunity to pull out either the SSG or Balista, or hell even just fire at him with another rocket. I can do this all day user, I guarantee I am better at the game than you.
Also, if you are spamming explosive AOE blasts near him when he summons it, what do you think is going to happen to the dog in most cases?
There has a boom of "old school shooters", but only on the indie side, and most directly aping 90s shooters rather than 2016's style. Dusk, Amid Evil, Ion Fury, Wrath, etc. Problem with 2016 and Eternal is that they obviously cost a lot of money. They've got modern graphics, cutscenes, enemies with complex AI and shitloads of unique animations, enormous amounts of art assets, and a general level of polish that requires a significant budget. Smaller studios can't afford to make an Eternal Clone without severely stripping something down, and most AAA studios will only try and overtly clone something if it's an unprecedented success like Halo or CoD4 or Fortnite.
It's not impossible to win that way, but countering him is much more efficient. You kill him in 3 counters iirc.
>Souls
press space when enemy is attacking and LMB when they're not
>Sekiro
press RMB when enemy is attacking and LMB when they're not
Yeah totally different
I like both but come on
Have there really been many Skyrim clones? Pretty much everything I've seen labelled a "Skyrim clone" has just been something from one of the old Eurojank RPG houses.
>but countering him is much more efficient.
Its literally not. Its easier, but unless you get really lucky with his AI its quicker to use splash damage -> falter -> balista/SSG -> repeat. You can also lob grenades behind him to get him to turn around and get a quick hit in. Also fighting him this way means he never gets close to you and hes locked down for most of the fight, so its actually safer to do in some ways.
It started the trend of about everything needing to suddenly be open world, from Metal Gear to Zelda to fucking musous to Witcher to just about anything open world in the last 8 years
I like sekiro and I don't like souls, to me there's a clear difference, especially when it comes to mobility options. Of course, you can reduce all video games to pressing buttons.
I know about the indies, I played those games and they were pretty good, but I thought we're talking about the big AAA productions in nu-Doom's style, or rather the lack thereof.
I just wish the big jewcorps like Ubisoft or Activision spent their enormous budgets on projects that are not complete trash. Like, imagine if instead of Far Cry New Dawn or Ghost Recon Breakpoint we got some gotta-go-fast old school shootan games - they could be pretty great. Well, it sure as hell wouldn't be worse than the garbage they actually made and keep making.
I'd say that blame could be just as easily attributed to GTA5, and more importantly the mountain of Ubisoft games that follow that formula. I don't recall seeing a AAA game that felt like it was directly and primarily inspired by Skyrim.
Hate this FPS bullshit. How do you stop enemies from shooting you from outside your FOV?
>lucky with his AI
Luck has nothing to do with this.
If you stay at the right distance - not too close, not too far - he will always do his projectile attack, then the counterable axe swing. It's 100% consistent and takes about 15 seconds to kill him this way.
Yes its a good thing there are never any enemies fighting alongside him making you move . Its literally always just a 1v1 where you can easily just stand still in the perfect spot and wait for the greent light lol
>eorde arcade mode with increasingly tougher demons.
>eventually there are 15 buffed marauders
NEVER stand still, always move as fast as possible and try to make it a little unpredictable too. You know, exactly like you would against human players.
Also, turn the FOV all the way up (this should be obvious if you ever played arena shooters - which you did, right?), and just point your camera towards the enemies - if you're smart about your positioning you can keep them all in front of you, rather than surrounding you from all directions.
cringe
>Finished the game on UV
>Finished it on Nightmare
>Finished the Master levels on Nightmare
>Finished the slayer gates
I WANT MORE ETERNAL FUCK
WHAT DO I DO
NEW MASTER LEVELS WHEN
You done Extra Lives mode? Can't Perfect Perfection?
>not going all in with ultra nightmare
Pussy.
Yes? That's exactly how it is, unless you count the respawning pinata zombies as enemies and not walking resupplies. If there's anything else left, you should clear that first before focusing on the Marauder, he's always the last one in the spawn queue.
The only tricky one is that slayer gate which also throws respawining prowlers at you, but if you have the flame hook they're walking +30 armor pickups.
how do I get the arc complex master level, bros? Piratefag btw
The best approach is to clear out the room so you can 1v1 him.
>New Doom series is the Devil May Cry of FPS
Shit, can anyone else back this up?
>no Ultra-Nightmare Can't Perfect Perfection No Damage 100% run
filthy casual
devil may cry tier crowd management and duels against equals was inspired
If you got the Bethesda's denuvoless version, you could just log in and get it automatically - and play battlemode, too.
If you downloaded one of those "cracked" releases, they don't go online, so neither of those features will work.
BTW I'm pretty sure the message mentioned I got it as a reward for playing early, so it might be a time-limited thing.
>"Doom Eternal is like a character action game, where your resources are your combo meter and if you break your combo meter you die."
t. some redditor. This was when I realized Yas Forums was shit in comparison to reddit.
You're forgetting the Marauder+whiplash encounter in Nekroval and the multiple marauder encounters in Final Sin that have you fighting multiple non-fodder enemies alongside him. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt and assuming you just forgot and aren't just a weirdo autist pretending to have played a game on the internet.
>you should clear that first before focusing on the Marauder,
OR YOU COULD GET BETTER AT THE GAME AND DEAL WITH THE ENEMIES AND THE MARAUDER AT THE SAME TIME BY USING SPLASH DAMAGE EXPLOSIVES. ITS NOT EVEN THAT MUCH HARDER. ITS ACTUALLY PROBABLY EASIER AND OVERALL TAKES LESS TIME.
or you could get better at the game and deal with the enemies and the marauder at the same time by using splash damage explosives to keep him locked down. its not even that much harder than clearing everything out and waiting out his counters. its actually probably easier and overall takes less time.
Well, that's kinda what it is. It doesn't do style ratings and isn't THAT over-the-top, but you can see some similarities - aside from the genre being completely different, of course.
I play fitgirl. It's weird because I seem to be only able to unlock shit like skins and stuff by clearing the cultist base master level.
Whoops meant to delete the caps-locked sentence.
It obviously doesn't play the same way on a basic mechanical level, but Eternal feels remarkably similar in how the combat flows. Movement is about quick precise movements around enemies to keep from getting hit and position yourself for attacks, enemies all have distinct roles in combat scenarios and require different strategies to defeat, you're juggling eight guns and a half-dozen different tools to replenish resources and make openings in fights. Honestly the biggest thing about it that reminds me of Devil May Cry is the night and day difference between when you start playing and when the combat finally clicks.
>multiple marauder encounters in Final Sin that have you fighting multiple non-fodder enemies alongside him
That's just plain wrong.
The Marauder won't spawn until there's only one or two other enemies left (I don't count the fodder). You just kill those first, and then it's a 1v1 fight, AS INTENDED by the devs.
If it was ever a problem, I surely would notice it in one of my 3 playthroughs or UN runs.
Don't get so angry user, if you wanna do your strat, that's fine, play the game your way.
>multiple marauder encounter
really? i beat the game on UV and didn't go for nightmare because i thought it was just a damage increase
but if you tell me i can fight multiple marauders that changes everything
Play Devil daggers now
This might depend on the difficulty level or maybe it's a pc vs consoles thing, but there are multiple encounters where you have to fight the marauder coupled with other enemies in the game.
I'm pretty sure he meant multiple times you encounter a single Marauder, not multiple Marauders at the same time.
is this some kind of meta meme on Yas Forums now? every post is either a disgusting blowjob for the game like this one or the polar opposite with a skreeching autist saying it's the worst game ever conceived.
can we chill the fuck out?
>difficulty level or maybe it's a pc vs consoles thing
I don't think that's a factor - in case it's relevant, I played on PC on Nightmare, Ultra-Nightmare, and Nightmare Extra Lives (which was pretty pointless BTW, it's a cool idea but makes zero sense when there's like 40 1ups in total).
Here's an example to illustrate my point - in the fight after you break the Crucible from that titan, there's a Cyber-Mancubus and a Cacodemon. After you kill those, there's a Whiplash and Dread Knight, and the Marauder soon after, but with how quick the combat is in this game, I always killed those two before the Marauder even got to me, and from that point on it was a 1v1, nothing else will spawn afterwards except for the ammo refill zombies. This is how it works in every single Marauder encounter.
I guess it would be a problem if you left those other enemies alive while you fight the Marauder, but why would you ever do that?
