It's like they focused so much on crafting and outdoor furniture that they forgot to put everything else in the game.
Where are all the NPCs? There are barely any NPCs in this game. The only permanent NPCs are the Nooks, Isabelle, Blathers, the Able Sisters, and the dodos (who are essentially glorified menus and don't have any character or ever leave the airport).
There are 3 traveling merchants, there's CJ and Flick who are just zoomer reskins of existing characters, Celeste who is essentially useless and doesn't even get a wing in the museum.
There are no new NPCs. And yet >Mr. Resetti removed >Rover removed >Crazy Redd removed >Tortimer removed >mail pelicans removed >Kapp'n removed >Brewster and the cafe removed >Digby removed >Katrina, Lyle, Gracie, Shrunk, Booker and Copper, Pascal all removed
i’m having fun with it, but i can’t help but think about how much better New Leaf was. New Horizons is definitely focused on decorating and... crafting. i don’t even want to talk to my villagers because they took the soul out of them. they’re all SHIT now.

almost every personality type is legitimately fucking annoying (most likely a terrible localization, thanks NOA), they're all insanely repetitive too. I've only been playing for like 2 weeks and I get repeated dialogue to the point where I don't even want to interact with them anymore.

i dont understand why people compare games like this, even with all of those NPCs gone the game still is a lot of fun a lot of the features that make AC good are fused in other NPCs and the crafting table so it just makes playing it feel more efficient plus with all those buildings out of the way you can fucking put gnomes everywhere instead

Has anyone got the NookLink QR code scanner to work in an emulator yet? I've tried using OBS as a webcam output as well as pointing a webcam at my screen, but it never recognizes the QR codes no matter how clear the image appears. I have a very bad feeling Nintendo will bring back NPCs throughout the year and will promote them in videos. Fans will eat them up as "look Nintendo is listening! Wow a coffee shop!".

Probably a future update. >Digby removed Streetpass isn't a thing and I can't think of something they would have him do. >Katrina This one bothers me. Katrina's fortune telling was always fun. >Lyle His role has changed multiple times since his introduction. Due to permanent mail, there is no need for Lyle since the HHA will mail you every Sunday anyway. It would still be nice to talk to him for tips though. >Gracie Label's "story" has made Gracie irrelevant. Label is working on being an independent fashion designer. You can see Gracie's bow on Label's bag. I do miss Gracie's furniture and clothing though. >Shrunk The emotion system was refined so villagers approach you with a new emotion every day, rather than you having to remember to go see him. That said, I did enjoy Shrunk's jokes. >Booker and Copper In New Leaf they were used for recycling, which was changed to the recycling box in the tent/town hall. But having them back would make it easier to know who is in town. >Pascal Pirate stuff sold normally, implied to be CJ's dad.

Idk, I think this game has soul. I was overhearing a conversation between Dom and Margie earlier and ended in him warning her to be careful crunching her abs too hard because she might...toot. The exchange kept going and their reactions were hilarious.
Also my gf just got back from a town and was looking up for shooting stars when she got back. On return, you can see jet cloud streaks across the clear full moon sky, 5 or 10 minutes later they're a bit more fuzzy, then eventually they're gone.
There's just so much detail put into this game in so many little things. And maybe it's also that everyone's locked up right now so I'm getting to experience a new AC with all my friends together online and finding stuff out together and keeping in touch. It does feel special and comforting.

70% of the NPCs were consolidated into other features, 20% of them were no longer relevant and maybe 10% were genuine losses. Were getting DLC this month so we can then confirm to what extent exactly the DLCs will expand upon base game. Im hoping it works like an expansion that will add a few NPCs, several catalogs of furniture and seasonal content with maybe a new feature. The Brewster and Museum datamine keep me hopeful but Im not holding my breath.
