I want halo 2's soundtrack to become a physical manifestation and lick my earlobes while I sleep.
Alexander Jackson
You're supposed to play them on heroic or legendary.
Michael Price
Reach is the worst campaign, so yeah, if you liked that you'll probably like the other ones. CE is already out on pc. Heroic is probably the best difficulty for a first timer.
Logan Harris
Alright I'll do so from now on.
I'm already considering replaying Reach on legendary, cuz it was really fucking fun co op. Maybe I'll do them all once they're all out. Hopefully, corona doesn't cause too much delay.
Luke Peterson
Alright, permanently swapping to heroic, assuming I can convince my noob friend. Hopefully he won't notice when i set CE on that difficulty
Tyler Peterson
Heroic is recommended for most people (especially with mouse and keyboard), I'd also recommend legendary if you have a partner as it can be fun in a different sort of way, yes they're all pretty short, hope you and your friend enjoy the rest of the series (hoping we get 2 soon).
Logan Gutierrez
CE is pretty fair, even on legendary. Heroic should be easy if you're good at fps games. Don't do Halo 2 on legendary co-op though. If even one person dies in that game, then both of you have to go back to the last checkpoint. I think it's the only game that does this in co-op, but it's really annoying.
Jose Hernandez
Thinking I'll play them all on heroic, and at some point in the future, probably do them all on legendary.
I finished Reach like a few hours ago, and I already kinda to play it again on higher difficulty.
I never knew the halo games were so moody & had such awesome fucking music
Bentley Hill
My friend and I. ESL much...
Oliver Collins
>Don't do Halo 2 on legendary co-op though. If even one person dies in that game, then both of you have to go back to the last checkpoint. noted, thanks
hope they all come out soon. got instant halo fever. didnt expect to like it this much
Jordan Jones
>Don't do Halo 2 on legendary co-op though. If even one person dies in that game, then both of you have to go back to the last checkpoint. Don't listen to this dumbass, that only happens when you activate a skull called iron, if you don't know what skulls are, then you don't have to worry about it
Kayden Howard
alright ill keep this in the back of my mind for whenever halo 2 releases
do we have any clue as to when that will be?
Jose Nelson
Halo 2 and 3's campaigns are FAR better.
Jayden Gonzalez
awesome to hear, looking forward to it
Ryan Diaz
You're wrong. Halo 2 restarts you both to the last checkpoint, iron skull has nothing to do with it. It has always been like this you dumb zoomer.
Ayden Sanders
Yea, if you liked Reach then you will absolutely love Halo 2 and Halo 3 campaigns, better/fun missions, writing, and killer soundtrack
Bentley Parker
no one talks about halo 4 cuz halo 4 is something else lol..
good to know i was kinda afraid it started off with the high point, since Reach is the last one bungie made
Is Halo 5 the one people don't like?
Jeremiah Richardson
some people actually consider Reach their least favorite. that being said, Reach is the most divisive game of the bunch, i personally love it. 1 is good but you'll really only appreciate it if you've played it before. 2 and 3 are both unanimously amazing and hailed as some of the best shooters of all time
Henry Jackson
4 is the absolute worst. 5 is okay, it's thing is that it has the single best iteration of Forge so far, which is what really makes these games shine
Jack Moore
Yea both Halo 4 and Halo 5 highly divided the fanbase. Imo halo 4 has a good story but terrible multiplayer but halo 5 has an absolutely terrible story but kinda okay multiplayer.
Ayden Cox
Oh, okay.
Speaking of... I've only thought about the campaigns so far. Haven't given much thought to the multiplayer, but I remember watching old RT-videos where they played like various dumb mini-games built in forge or something...
Like, right now, do I want to do some multiplayer shit on Reach or CE? Or just wait for Halo 2?
Aaron Myers
Normal is the default if the game can be beaten in 5 hours on the Normal difficulty then it's short.
This
Bentley Taylor
My friend wants to play CE on normal, I want to play on heroic. I'm hosting.
If I just put it on heroic & lie... will he notice?
Isaiah Roberts
I talk about it if asked.
Juan Jones
Halo 2's soundtrack is about the most soulful thing i've ever heard in my life.
John Ortiz
tell me about halo 4 please without spoilers. ive never played any of them, i dont know shit
i do know halo 3 is kind of the ending, and that some other studio started some (as of yet unfinished) new trilogy that halo 4 is the beginning of
what is/isnt shit about it?
Anthony Turner
its fine.
Justin Lopez
well. you DID talk about it when asked...
Daniel Perez
of the games available in the MCC, only 3, Reach and 4 have Forge. and 4 is terribad, so only 3 and Reach count imo
Brayden Foster
Alright guess I'll stick to Reach for a while, and when Halo 2 comes out, I'll play that with every friend of mine who used to own an xbox (thats the one they talk about), and then check out Halo 3 whenever that comes. Nice
Xavier Murphy
Were you playing on Normal or Heroic? Heroic is generally recommended
>Are they all this short?
Reach is a bit shorter then some of the other campaigns, but not by much. Also, obviously you playing co-op would make it faster since you can clear out enemies twice as fast.
Also, at least personally, I find the Halo games are best ejoyed when you take your time: They tend to have a lot of envoirmental storytelling and atmosphere, so going slower and paying attention to your envoirments help you soak that in more: this is especially true with 2, Reach itself, and ESPECIALLY especially ODST, which I outright don't reccomend playing co-op your first time through at all due to how much of the game's tone is set up to around a melancholic sense of lonelyness.
> Are they all this good?
A lot of people actually think Reach is one of the worst games in the series. I don't agree with that, but yes, most are around the same level of quality for the campaign, though CE in particular shows it's age and is a lot more minimalistic and barebones and can get tedious and repetitive as a result. 2 is a big step foward and has a much larger narrative emphasis and has more variety, though it still has some tedious missions and has both a lot of high highs and low lows. 3, like Reach, is a more consistent string of good to great missions, and it has some of the singl;e best missions in the fracnhise, but I don't think it has as many highs as 2 and the story is not nearly as well written, and the gunplay is sort of eh.
ODST is... pretty different from the other games of the series, but it's probably the most similar to reach in that it's a lot more of a grounded military-shooter then CE-3 which are more arcadey and surreal; and like Reach has a whole squad you follow, a somber tone, etc, though I think ODST pulls it off better then Reach does.
Ethan Ross
awesome, noted, thanks for thought-out reply
i did play on normal, and we only died like 3 times (from doing overtly aggressive and stupid things), so im switching it to heroic
ill keep what you said in mind about ODST for whenever it comes out. im kinda concerned corona will put big delays on the plans for release, but hopefully im wrong
Ryder Russell
I'd say play it on heroic as it still allows you to have some fun while not being a total cakewalk. Legendary is noob combo 24/7 with not much in the way of variety.
Ayden Sullivan
cont:
4's not as good: the campaigns pretty much a less tedious version of CE's, which sounds good, but considering it's made over 10 years afterwards CE that's not a great thing that it's only that good, and the story, while it has neat ideas and tries to do cool things, has not grat executions, but some people like it.
5's campaign is universally considered to largely be a waste of time; though some people swear that it's got some of the best MP in the series.
Maybe one day I'll outright make a guide of tips and other info for new players too, since there's a lot of littleelements which would maximize people's enjoyment of the games which isn't obvious to new players (such as how in ODST the city's AI wil change traffic signals and signs to direct you organically, and you should try to rely on that and not your map)
> The soundtrack is wicked. Reach has the weakest soundtrack of the bungie games, so if you liked it you'll love the rest.
In general I wouldn't reccomend 2 on legendary co-op or not. It's just sadistically unbalanced: CE, 3, Reach, etc on legendary are pretty damn challenging, but 2 legendary is just outright unfair.
Reach's MP on a purely mechanical/map design ground has issues, but it's got a lot of options and tools and a wide weapon/vehicle sandbox: So it's not great for sweaty competitive play but it's one of the best games in the series for casual play and goofy custom games shit.
Worth noting forge is currently disabled on PC, but it can be unlocked by editing the files fairly easily; though most instructions are out of date.
Anthony White
Sure. I'm a little iffy about people playing Halo 2 co-op the first time through as well, just because of how much of a narrative focus it has, but as long as you and your friend can keep quiet during cutscenes, pay attention, and not distract each other during that and ambient dialog during gameplay (certain dialog lines only play when you linger around specific characters or stuff) then you should be fine.
Adam Scott
This is one of the worst Halo games, i’m sorry it was your first. Halo is balanced for controllers, and every game in the series should be played on Legendary, besides Halo 2 which should be Heroic. Play Halo CE, 2 and 3 for a real taste of good Halo.
Jaxon Lopez
CE has the best campaign if you actually care about level design and don’t care about muh grafix. Speaking of which, play in classic mode, the Anniversary graphics ruin the atmosphere and actually make it harder to see.
Brayden Collins
Campaign is decent but it's a clear stepdown from CE-3. Multiplayer is straight-up CODshit though.
Connor Taylor
>Reach has the weakest soundtrack of the bungie games, so if you liked it you'll love the rest. well well well
and yeah im thinking ill play them all on legendary, probably once they're all out, but ill probably skip #2 then. good advice, cheers
>Worth noting forge is currently disabled on PC, but it can be unlocked by editing the files fairly easily; though most instructions are out of date. ill probably just wait, if its planned on coming soon enough
Reach being a good game for casual goofy crap sounds ideal to me, im probably not gonna be a skilled deathmatch guy
Luis Butler
Shit taste
Jayden Gonzalez
yeah my friend is deliberately chosen for giving a shit about the story lol
so probably wont be a problem. but i appreciate the heads up
Michael Morgan
>Halo 2 which should be Heroic Halo 2 is fucked on Heroic, you can tell all the Bungie and 343 games were designed around Normal.
Liam Smith
t. Casual baby. Halo 2 is fucked no matter what, but outside of sniper alley heroic is fine for two player KB + M.
Every other game (CE especially) is perfect for Legendary. CE even is more fun with Famine.
Isaac Turner
>343 created a whole new generation of reachbabbies on PC Was this the next step in their sprintfag master plan?
Julian Stewart
The game's were designed with the Heroic difficulty in mind.
Joseph Richardson
You what? 2 in particular has an normal that's too easy
Nathaniel Wilson
>Normal is the default The game literally says Heroic is the way it's supposed to be played
Ian Lopez
It's not, game is fucked on Heroic, it's clear as day nothing was fucking tested. Reach is cheap even AI battles show how Bungie B Team fucked up the AI in that game.
Only way to play that game, only CE and 3 have good Heroics, every other Bungie and 343 games have terrible Heroics.
Hudson Morris
Worth noting the very first cutscene which plays in H2A is a Halo 5 teaser, so disregard that: you could try to JUST skip thjat one, but you rislk accdientallyt skipping the next as well.
It's also possible 343i might exclude the teaser in the PC release, who knows.
I'll never understand the people who claim CE has better level design then 2, 3, ODST, or Reach.
CE is almost entirely either copy-paste interior rooms and hallways which aren't just visually indisuishable due to how barren they are and reusing textures, but outright reused room layouts; or wide open, empty ass outdoor areas which exist largerly for padding and the lack of complex geometry means combat just revolves taking straight potshots since in an empty field that';s all it boils down to.
The subsquent games do a much better job of not having as much repetition and asset reuse, with even 2's rooms and hallways being clearly visually distinguisable as actual distinct places, and all also have way more engaging outdoor areas: 2 and ODST still has large combat spaces outdoors, but fills it with a lot denser geometry with buildimngs and natural structures which makes encounters different due to the different geometry, while 3 and Reach retain much more open combat playspaces, but they aren't AS sterile and flat and without objects as CE so combat is still varied up.
Michael Campbell
Literally, only 3 on up until MCC says this, nothing else before it does, Bungie is also full of shit since they always played the games on Normal for the most part.
Josiah Thomas
He'll notice but do it anyways. CE is probably the easiest in the series, so you'll be fine.
Jeremiah Rodriguez
OP, when you play CE, make sure you are using original graphics for the level 343 Guilty Spark: the remastered ones ruins the atmopshere in that level.
In general CE's new graphics in the remaster sort of don't match the visual design exactly of the original, so if you want to play it as originally intended i'd stick with the originals and just changhe to tyhe new ones from time to time as you play.
Halo 2's new graphics are much more faithful and there's really no reason to ever switch back to the old graphics unless you just wanna see how someting looks in the original visuals.
In both you can change back and forth in real time; though not in cutscenes for CE (whicever you had when the cutscene started is what it sticks with) and doing so will descync the cutscenes in H2 (so if a cutscene starts to play, just quickly switch it to tremastered if it's not already)
Hudson Kelly
No, it always does. Just played through it coop last week >Halo 2 Legendary is sadistically unbalanced It's not that hard. A friend and I beat it over a couple days without looking up a guide. >Halo 3 on Legendary is hard Oh, you're just bad then. Halo 3 isn't hard at all, Bungie made it really easy so all the shitters who cried about Halo 2 being unfair would shut up.
Hudson Torres
>Halo 2's new graphics are much more faithful >makes Arby a bitch >backwards Phantom >makes Miranda ugly >replaces the tentacle Miranda grabs with a wire Faithful my ass.
Kayden Perez
>only 3 on up until MCC says this, nothing else before it does Reach came out during this period you absolute retard
Hudson Gray
>3 on up So your retarded ass has reading comprehension problems, huh?
Jace Lopez
You’re just wrong about CE. You don’t understand enemy engagements or the appeal of a mixture of truly open levels and hallway slaughterfests. All the other Halos are railroads in comparison with MUCH less open engagement design.
Lucas Phillips
Just play on legendary. Your primary is a plasma pistol, your secondary is a pistol.
this thread is cancer stop being bad at video games against dumb ai.
Connor Sullivan
>Halo 2's new graphics are much more faithful and there's really no reason to ever switch back to the old graphics you can't have the original ost with remastered graphics and the remastered ost is shit. I hate 343 for making their "remastered" ost's the default.
