After playing tekken for 1.3k hours (and being decent at it, mind you, I'm not some 40000 win green rank dragunov) I switched to soul calibur after the 3.30 Murray fiasco and holy shit this game is so much better.

This is tekken in a nutshell: do mid/low mixups under the threat of a CH move. That's it, that is literally it. Anybody telling you it's about movement is fucking lying or coping, movement is there as an option select and also because there is no reason not to backdash whenever you're at minus. Other than that it's purely to OS shit.
You know how you need to fight different against certain characters like Steve in Tekken? That's everybody in SC. Everybody is a unique matchup that plays in their own way.

ain't nothing wrong with playing the current guilty gear, it's got very expressive movement at the mid-level play
cool combo conversions, styling on people, optimizing the shit, smart plays, smart-ass plays, it's all there
i can sorta agree on tekken being gimmick-heavy, that game requires a lot of knowledge and some unnatural skills drilled into your mind's natural reactions before it gets fun to play
i'd say the current game variety is quite reasonable and quality is great, barring the obvious >sfv and >mvci debacles
it's much more variable than the sf4 days, for example - even though i loved the 2012AE-onwards era, at least we got more games than sf4 and MAHVEL now
