>Literally and unironically confirmed
Hopes? Dreams? Nightmares?
HALF-LIFE 3
As long as its vr i will give not a single shit
More for us VR chads i suppose
I hope it takes another 15-20 years to release.
okay fatty flatty.
You definitely won't be posting non stop about how its shit because it's VR for months before and after the release.
The dream is that they release HL2: Episode 3 on VR to close the HL2 story arc and characters, then release Half Life 3 on whatever brain interface shit that Gabe is working on. HL2 was so fundamentally different from HL1 that it would feel weird for HL3 to still be about Alyx, Eli, etc.
I know they won't do that, but it would be a lot better than having to close EVERY story arc in one 10 hour game like theyre going to try to.
Is the guy jewish?
after Alyx...eh, I don't think I'll torture myself
I gave up caring about HL after Alyx, they clearly don't care about the story/lore hence the retcon shit.
>Literally and unironically confirmed
Where's the proof?
thanks poorfag, this is just the election for gamers watching you commies seethe
Play Half-Life Alyx
>vrfags are like sega/nintendofags of decades past
war... war never changes
>it would feel weird for HL3 to still be about Alyx
Couldn't agree more, Valve only made Alyx to capitalise on simps.
Alyx was disappointing so I'm not really excited for HL3 anymore
The end of episode 2 confirmed half-life 3. What's your point?
Alyx killed the hype I had for half life 3
All true fans dream of HL2Ep3 closing the HL2 story arc and setting to leave open grounds for HL3.
Calling yourself Chad small pp
Unironically a good thing. Worrying about creating the second coming of Christ in video game form was what caused HL3 to get scrapped multiple times.
Honestly its been so long I dont give a fuck anymore
also I lost all faith in valve after how they treated tf2 and dota2
it's going to be VR so i don't give a shit
Play Half-Life Alyx
he's right you know
more like because of the chaotic structure at valve and major internal disagreements
l4d3 was also confirmed scrapped over the years. Only reason alyx got released was because Gabe got off his fat ass and told everyone they need to sell vr equipment
faggot
who gives a fuck you sub-human retard? kys you retarded failure at life boomerturd.
>Jumping/platforming
>Melee combat
>More weapon variety
>More enemy variety
>Better puzzles
>Actual climbing and crawling animations, no teleport bs
agreed, i constantly forget people are genuinely looking for a continuation of the episodes lol, i want something as different as hl2 was to 1
i like the idea of gordon missing climactic events and finding out about them after the fact, he's supposed to have little agency
>Jumping/platforming
>Melee combatyou wish
>Actual climbing and crawling animations, no teleport bs
yeah fat chance
I want it to make me really FEEL like Gordon Freeman.
>Nightmares
vr only ;_;
The whole arctic setting combined with the horror elements reminds me of The Thing. Sounds pretty fucking kino to me. I'm also interested what they do in terms of gameplay. Since it's Borealis there has to be some teleportation mechanics involved maybe even time travelling as well. More platforming since it's all ice rocks and mountains, more enemy and weapon variety. Maybe some new characters introduced.
Reminder that all the innovate ideas Valve has or had, will never be implemented because of braindead QA testers. Alyx originally had you using sign language to communicate.
>brain interface thing
IIRC the patent for that shit involved getting a wire hooked into your brain, I'm not letting anything near my meat hardware just for videogames, miss me with that
>Alyx originally had you using sign language to communicate.
Communicate with who?
It was a concept for Episode 3, a pancake game
>Alyx originally had you using sign language to communicate.
What the fuck is wrong with this community imagining things? How the fuck do you confuse
>We were experimenting with making animations for Alyx and Dog where they communicate with sign language in 2011 as a literal test to see what we can do with it, but it never went anywhere
with
>HALF-LIFE: ALYX, THAT STARTED DEVELOPMENT IN 2017 ORIGINALLY HAD YOU USING SIGN LANGUAGE AND IT WAS GREAT BUT PLAYTESTERS RUINED EVERYTHING
Question: do you think they'll do a completely new plot/setting for HL3, like how it was a huge plot shift from HL1 to HL2? Or will they just continue with the same HL2 plot?
Take your medication and get some exercise.
>Gordon (((freeman)))
What do you think?
All I've ever wanted from a new Half Life game is the ability to use the portal gun. Imagine combining Portal's unique gameplay and puzzles with HL's combat, using interesting combinations of normal weapons, the gravity gun, and the portal gun to fight enemies.
I'm not sure what valve can even do to get back ahead of the curve.
No matter how they innovate with technology, they have this issue where they just see all of their players as mouth-breathing morons and refuse to do anything truly inspired or sometimes just miss the mark entirely on a gameplay front because of it. They coast on immersion and technology.
>laser-focus on making teleportation good because for whatever reason you're dead convinced that teleportation locomotion is the future of VR
>almost nobody uses teleport locomotion because they want to play a half-life game and it's not that difficult to overcome VR sickness if you keep at it for more than a single hour
>you now have this weird mishmash of systems where everyone is using the less fleshed out walking locomotion but they have to teleport to either jump or sprint because you didn't design your game around either of those
HL:A ends with the gman giving alyx the ability to save her dad at the end of episode 2 in exchange for her employment by him which she takes.
the post credit scene is eli & gordon realizing what just happened and getting ready to head to the borealis in the hopes of using it to find the gman.
They'll probably carry on the same story thread, the ending of HL2 was a lot less open-ended than HL1 in terms of how it could be continued, plus since the current plot hasn't really been resolved it would be a bit of a cop-out to move things elsewhere, especially after the ending of Alyx
Hopes:
>That the armor finally isn't useless
>That I'm not going to be stuck going from unmaintained/abanned buildings in russia to unmaintained/abanned buildings in russia.
>That I can skip cutscenes instead of being locked into scripted sequences in a poor attempt to disguise cutscenes.
>That I can visit alien worlds.
Dreams:
>That the ending will be conclusive enough
>That we get plenty of vibrant environments
>That we get more interesting weapons
>Nods to Portal in the Borealis
Nightmares:
>More tech demo bullshit
>More bullshit like the striders
>Even longer scripted sequences where you do nothing
>The armor being even more useless than before
>More Zombie bullshit
>More of the Combine being retarded
>Another 10+ years for another installment
>More of the boring looking dystopia when the series established that countless bizarre alien dimensions exist and even earth itself should have some interesting Biomes due to the invasive alien species, seriously, why the fuck is this so damn hard? I hate that this series is classified as hard sci-fi and yet you mostly fight humans on earth, with realistic weapons, in urban buildings and smashing wooden crates with a crowbar. Why waste the potential of your setting like this? It drives me nuts.
Same plot, sadly. Developers only experiment when the franchise is tiny. But when everybody knows and recognizes LOL CITADEL LOL SOLDIER DEATH SOUNDS LOL MANHACKS it all stagnates and goes to shit. Nobody is going to make a Half-Life game where you travel to the dyson sphere, steal their tech to become a demigod and teleport to different occupied planets with incomprehensible to us culture, architecture and shit to liberate them.
Yeah, you're probably right. It's honestly why I'm mad that they decided to make a prequel to HL2 rather than wrapping up the rest of the HL2 plot that would've concluded with Episode 3. HL3 should be a complete shift in the same way that HL2 was from 1
Better weapons and shooting. I can't play the vanilla HL2 weapon set anymore without MMOD, SMOD or equivalents and shit in Gmod, because it's just so fucking bland.
Hopes:
>Good VR support
Nightmare:
>VR Exclusive
I'd love to see a Half-Life 3 where Gordon/ a new protagonist gets spit out on the combine end of a portal and has to navigate the result of a more long-term combine occupation of an alien planet
or even a series of worlds in varying stages of combine occupation, or maybe getting to at least briefly see whatever organization G-Man is with. Interdimensional bureaucracy is my shit.
I w
>More bullshit like the striders
I still don't know what Valve was thinking in HL2 with the striders and gunships.
Hurr let's make it so they can only be damaged by rockets, you can only carry 3 rockets at a time, and each enemy takes more than 3 rockets to kill.
i still don't know if it's possible to get through the plaza in hl2 without the striders hitting you
What pisses me off is that Valve seems to treat Half-Life like some tech demo plaything they only bring out when they're certain they can try and innovate, leaving fans who enjoy the story or gameplay in the shit for a decade
Who knows, maybe that is actually for the best but it still just seems like they're covering up their own laziness/incompetence
I'd like to know more about the interactions between the Gman and Eli
>gave him the crystal that caused the Resonance Cascade
>talked about unforseen consequences
>Eli knows the Gman talks to Gordon, and was probably told about his stasis as well (Eli wants to pair Alyx with Gordon even though he should be 20 years older than her)
>Eli calls the Gman a 'mutual friend', implying he's had many interactions with him
>Gman turned back time to save his life (maybe it was just to persuade Alyx, but could've been intentional)
I wonder what are the Gman's intentions with him
I hope it's exclusively for VR
From how it seems, Eli is probably a convenient yet expendable tool he can use. His ultimate goal seemed to be Alyx from the start and Eli was just one of the means Gman used to take her in
HL never had any meaningful "lore" to speak of. Laidlaw wrote literally a few paragraphs worth of dialogue lol.
It's some janky fucking shit. I always make sure to have two medics who I tell to leave in a safe spot, then spend the entire time running back and forth grabbing rockets and going back to the medics to heal, because like 1 second of fire takes away 90% of your health
Going from VR back to being a desktop cuckold would feel like a major regression. Fuck that.
Stay mad flattie
Less is more. It's still a cool setting.
I remember when I had no money.
Hang in there, pooranon.
It doesn't have to be an implant user. It can be over the skull. Like 15 years ago I went to a tech conference where I played Garry's Mod with my brain. It was rudimentary but it's definitely possible.
Uhm, are there sexy space cats?
>Half Life Alex confirmed HL3, guys!
Just like how Half Life episode 2 did?
My main apprehension with VR right now is that everything is still in the experimental phase. They're still figuring out the hardware and all that. What I don't want to do is spend 1000 dollarydoos on a VR set just for something new and radically better to come out in a year or two that totally invalidates anything that came before it.
>Less is more.
No. HL2 delivers essentially no exposition or world-building beyond a few old newspapers and spray decals on walls. That's essentially it. HL2 fans are so fucking delusional about this game's "lore" and "story". Laidlaw was always a hack. Fingers crossed Valve can actually inject a narrative into their next game complete with some actual character arcs and coherent world-building.
HL3 starts out with Gordon waking up in Aperture facility with a missing arm and his mechanical arm is the new gravity gun/portal gun that the game is built around, eventually he escapes the facility and walks out to a Combine controlled North America inspired by the much darker Half-Life 2 beta content.
>confirmed
not it isnt
Isn't being an anthropomorphic space cat and having statues of house cats equivalent to us having statues of chimpanzees or midgets everywhere?
If you want exposition and world building then maybe you should play another series of games
My interpretation is that Eli was part of G-Man's "interference" at Black Mesa. He was likely one of, if not "the" scientists alongside Dr. Breen who was given the totally pure and unstable Xen sample that caused the Resonance Cascade.
I think his involvement stops there. "Unforseen Concequences", whilst used as a shorthand/reference for HL1 players in-universe is likely something G-Man referred to during the prelude to the Black Mesa Incident. Once you're aware of the G-Man, I don't think you some how forget him or are made unaware.
It's possible that there was some pre-HL2 interaction also wherein G-Man alerted Eli that Gordon was going to arrive to change things, but it's equally possible that Eli is just a very intelligent scientist who put two and two together, combined with whatever HL:Alyx era Alyx remembers of her interactions with G-Man following "the deal", especially since they were already connecting dots between Freeman and cosmic-fuckery. After going to the vault thinking its Freeman, then a dazed and confused Alyx returning to the world with some allusion to G-Man, 5 years later Gordon turning up the same age as he was at Black Mesa literally out of fucking nowhere seems pretty complete.
This, and the 2nd act of the game takes place in the ruins of black mesa where he needs to travel back to, and the last act takes place on the combine dyson sphere, akin to how the last act of HL1 was Xen
should have got this guy to do the character model
Well, that's what's kept them successful. Most people are mouth-breathing morons. Valve panders to them because it gets most people to buy their games.
>should have got this guy to do the character model
The character model wasn't ever intended to be seen.
Now that they have given VR coomers their day, it is time to take it back to the real fans.
I want to see technology, not VR shit.
Yes, I play HL for the gameplay. But pretending it has interesting lore, or that that lore is explored well in the games, is laughable. Even BotW has better environmental storytelling.
There's no way the vault actually happened in HL2's continuity. There's no way Alyx and Eli operated in City 17 after she essentially 9/11'd the place.
VR is technology you dumb nigger retard
>tfw was just getting to last section of Alyx last night after bringing the vault thing down to the ground and my old 970 finally croaked on me when I was in the middle of a fight
I was long overdue for a full rebuild, but I feel really sad now. I've had this PC for at least a decade.
This. If the vault happened in HL2's continuity, she'd be as much of a symbol of the resistance as Gordon was. If not more.
>Hope's
A fast release of a SDK and good model support
>Dreams
Development of high quality mods like Echoes, Metastasis: Minerva, and Entropy: Zero.
>Nightmares
VR only
With the exception of Opposing Force, Half Life mods have downright better level design and plots than the base games themselves.
>Ywn have DarkRP directly injected into your brain.
