What is the general consensus on the Evil Within games? They're on sale on a few sites for less than 10 dollars right now.
The Evil Within
I personally hated it. It's the sort of game I would expect to enjoy but nothing clicked for me. Borrowed it from a friend and didn't play through the second level after the first/prologue showing small, small amounts of promise.
first one was a 7/10
second one is 8.5/10
imo
They are both decent games. 1 has a lot more soul to it while 2 plays better. Pick them up.
first one is essential mikami kino
second game is casualized westshit
first one was a bastardized combo of re4 and tlou
second one was actually intersting
First game is a horror survival close to a masterpiece.
Second is a rushed cashgrab with literallywho director and focus on survival fake openworld shit with enourmously asspulled plot.
First one starts kinda strong (but weird) then drops off pretty badly, with some shockingly bad sections that risk ruining the whole game. Also has some fucking great sections too.
Gameplay is a mixed bag.
Way too many instant deaths, and the framerate is God awful.
Still, it is a somewhat entertaining and memorable game, with a pretty unique gimmick in its story/world.
Sequel is pretty much an improvement in terms of gameplay (except stealth kills being OP) however in tightening up the controls and playability, they lost a fair bit of the weird charm that the first had.
Still, it is enjoyable for the most part, despite kinda getting old and repetitive when you return to the same town later (but have to deal with irritating fire enemies)
Reused bosses showing up as minibosses that wander around the (open) world detract from their unique appeal.
Story is also a mixed bag, though some of the side missions are fucking top tier (and feature one of the best uses of the ps4 controller speaker I've ever seen done)
The aesthetic is less good, but simultaneously less bad than the first game.
All around decent horror games - many flaws, but nothing so bad that it outright ruins them. Instead they feel like with better direction they could have both been absolutely excellent.
They are both weirdly memorable too, and you'll find yourself occasionally reminiscing about them.
>close to a masterpiece
lmao what a shit opinion
Pure unfiltered kino mi amigo
Play the 1st one.
Pretend 2 never happened because it's dumbed down and souless but at least you can fap to kidman
Only played the first but I really liked it. I did almost drop it easy but It got a lot better. Died a fuck ton tho
Stefano Valentini was the best part about evil within 2 and none of the other villains were as good in it
First one plays like shit. It takes 3 seconds for your character to turn around and he can't run for more than 3sec without upgrades
>but he smokes!
Ask any smoker to run and I guarantee you they'll do a better job. Also, the performance is abysmal in any platform that's not PC.
Thanks, anons. There's a lot of mixed opinions on this one so I might just skip it.
i liked them both, the first on gets good after chapter 3, the 2nd was good all the way through
I really enjoyed them both a lot, but I prefer the 2nd because I really liked the story in that one and the more fluid gameplay elements. Probably has the best survival horror hub too. 2's soundtrack is stellar.
First game is great. My personal favorite survival horror to date. The game is an acquired taste for sure due to it's "confusing" plot, which all makes sense in the end. 2 was ok but not really worthwhile, I'm perfectly fine pretending it never happened. My biggest gripe was the voice actor changes.
Plus Kidman is great, a very underrated character in the survival horror genre.
First one was absolutely kino. I only played it on PC years after release but I heard it had various fixes/patches so some of the complaints here may be due to that.
The second one was unironically soulless, still a decent game though.
>They're on sale on a few sites for less than 10 dollars right now.
What sites? Interested in the Steam version.
wingamestore the steam versions
It's worth it. It has it's janky moments but overall, good games. Good thrills.
RE4 kino, both of them. I liked the second one more than the first. Make sure to upgrade the regular crossbow bolt to the max in the first game.
>tfw your first experience in tew2 is going in to the red room
Kino
they play just like The Last of Us, but the story and characters are just complete nonsense.
thanks lad.
Pro tip don’t use bottles for stealth, just throw them into enemies faces and you’ll get a free melee kill follow up.
Pro tip 2 upgrade the handguns crit chance, max rank is like 50% chance to instant kill
Could be good if it they didn't have stealth mechanics.
the story fell into place well, 2 wrapped up everything except ruvik being in the wild and joseph. mobius is wrapped up, kidman, sebas, lily and myra all had ends. the entire system was explained across two games to the point anyone can understand it.
Some pretty good thriller games. The first game arguably has better scares, but the second game's gameplay is more polished. The story takes place in one giant collective mind bubble of sorts and all sorts of crazy shit happens, but it's interesting the whole way through.
I recommend maybe playing the first game on normal and playing the second game on hard. The first game has an "end of Resident Evil 4" part and it's not fun because you don't have the kit Leon had. Also you might trial and error during one of the boss encounters, because it was designed annoying. The second game is much better with its encounters, although probably not as memorable.
They both have great atmosphere and surprisingly intense gameplay. Story sucks in both sadly but you can tell they did actually try the second game, but the voice acting was very generic
>all these niggers ITT who actually prefer "sequel" aka cashgrab
Yas Forumseddit is filled with shit-eating underage mongoloids, never trust general opinion posted here on anything
based.
2nd isn't bad, but it doesn't even hold a candle to the 1st
>yfw Kidman’s wet blouse
I'm currently going through the first one, it has some of the most fun gameplay I've played when it comes to survival horror. Story is a little generic but the visuals make up for it. Playing this right after The last of Us and I'm enjoying this way more.
Also the voice acting is fucking hilarious. youtube.com
The story was complete nonsense. Especially in the first game. Basically nothing made sense, but "dude it's not supposed to make sense"
this
both are kino but 1st game does not age well
>play only first game
>fap to kidman
so close yet so far
Also expect shitty framerate if you're playing on PS4
seething casuals who probably hated REmake
>"nothing made sense"
not everyone is subhuman nigger like you
it ages pretty well in the fact that it's better than the 2nd
Go ahead and sum up the plot for us. And please don't describe it as "inception but nightmares"
Your KINO, sir.
everything happens in a mind of crazy genius.
i love remake
1st game is an uninspired mess of dogshit
cope seethe and dilate
first one was a bit dull, but I liked the second one
I don't think it's a cashgrab, it just had bad direction
3rd one never ever?
The plot is that you're all interconnected into the same nightmare by some crazy machine powered by Ruvik's brain and that the MC has a particularly strong will so he can't really be influenced, absorbed, and killed by the nightmare like others typically are (turned into zombies or whatever).
Ruvik wants to get out into the real world so he can resume his evil experiments(presumably to turn the earth into his lobotomy zombie slaves or to make an even bigger nightmare machine) and Leslie has some sort of supernatural powers or vulnerability that make him a good vessel for Ruvik (they both happen to be somewhat albino). Ruvik is trying to keep you from saving Leslie so that he can use his perfect vessel to switch bodies and escape.
The scientist faggot is a piece of shit who is only trying to help you to save his own hide, he gets everything he deserves.
I know more but I think this will suffice.
>first one is uninspired
spotted the retard who thinks an open world collectathon is more inspired than a revolving world of multiple people intertwining nightmares
a twisted guy who lost his family does sick and twisted research for a doctor who works for an evil mega-corp. twisted guy gets betrayed and used as a test subject in his own research. mega-corp starts to loose control of the mind experiment because they used twisted guy who made the shit as the foundation. sebas and company get sucked into the now wireless experiment and have to uncover the backstory of twisted guy to understand why the stuff that happens is happening and then put a stop to it. the cute girl is a double agent working for the mega-corp but secretly on the side of the good guys as she starts to see just how fucked the world would be if this tech got out of control.
And that's a very bad way of telling your story
>well yeah nothing really needs to be explained, you're in his mind and he's CUHRAZY!
>story retcons first game
>embarassingly horrible writing
>plot is not weird and crazy but simply pants on head retarded
>lazy halfassed survival crafting elements and absolute dogshit level design
>shit bosses who are getting reused down the line
>ending is pure trash
this sums up the second game
Give me ONE reason not to replay pic related instead
Did they ever even explain why you needed to go into the nightmare instead of just killing Ruviks real body?
>but muh story
if you play video games for the story you have a vagina
it's actually all explained even down to why each enemy is the way they are. it just appears crazy at the start. by the end every detail makes sense.
probably never.
That new Tokyo Ghost game is coming, and it will actually be directed by MikamiGod, unlike the wet fart of a sequel that was TEW2
my point still stands , the 2nd games gameplay and story are more contrived and casualized (uninspired) than the 1st games.
I'm pretty sure just being in vicinity of the machine is enough to get absorbed into the nightmare (you never see sebastian getting physically hooked into the machine until game 2 iirc). they never really explain that one
kek the first game is a direct ripoff of tlou you fucking retard
>stillborn mongoloid thinks his opinion is fact
they are both inspired by RE4, the greatest game of all time, so I don't know what you're on about
ruvik was just a brain in a jar and the machine was wireless so anyone going near it's core got snatched up.
pretty sure that is the 2nd with the whole father/daughter thing going on. did you even play the games? and it's really only like tlou in the sense that it's a ots game with some stealth stuff like throwing items to stun or distract enemies, something that is pretty universal in games with stealth.
Resident Evil 4.5. I dislike Resi 4, so naturally I dislike TEW...
re4 didnt have stealth or craft mechanics you stupid nigger
>Tokyo Ghost game is coming, and it will actually be directed by MikamiGod
oh fuck neat i thought it was scrapped after ikumi left. was there news about that or something?
>OP just asks for recs and gets a wild ride of a thread
I was literally just assuming because I figured you can't stop the MikamiTrain, but a quick search yielded this article from a month ago
pushsquare.com
>any game with crafting or stealth is bad and a ripoff of TLOU
guess the second game is a ripoff of TLOU ever more than the first game
>he just keeps getting more wrong and wrong
I thought EW1 was pretty good, a very good successor of RE4...maybe the best after Dead Space.
It's definitely imperfect, performance is bad on consoles even after patches. the story is really badly told so don't pay too much attention. Also the game can get kinda long. But I do recommend it.
>if i put it in greentext its like im always right
kek the second game isnt a derivative linear piece of shit like the first game
but i wouldnt expect uncultured swine like you to know when to appreciate good game design
