This game is shit and you know it
It's great.
Just not a good sequel.
why?
Its literally the greatest game of all time.
this
Its remake will be better
only like 30% of it
No it's not. It's still one of the 3 best TPS games ever.
RE4 is so good that it literally destroyed gaming because everything after tried to be it and failed.
It’s great and you don’t know it, apparently
If there is any game that has absolutely 0% chance of being improved by a remake, it's RE4. The nature of the 2 and 3 remakes dictates that RE4's balance and controls would have to be overhauled for Capcom to be happy with it, and that would fuck up the delicate balance of the game's combat.
This. If they put in moving and aiming it would break the enemy design, which in turn would break the level design, which would break the entire game.
This, but ironically.
They'll just throw more ganados at you or give them the ability to tank headshots like the zombies in RE2/3
I'm actually doing a playthrough of it right now. I find that the game really struggles whenever the combat shifts from forward facing combat with slow enemies. The el gigante and wolverine bosses were pretty abysmal, run, turn around to see if there's an opening, turn around, run, turn around.... Tank controls are shit when you have no rear awareness.
maybe it was a good game if you were 7 at the time of it's release
it's a masterpiece, cope little baby
See, I think this is an interesting topic because I find it fun to think about how they'd have to rebalance the enemies if you have modern controls.
Chainsaw guy's one of the most stressful enemies in the game, but if you can move like RE2 Leon he'd be nothing but a nuisance. So what do you do? Give him twice as much health, make him move a lot faster? I think there could be promise in giving the Ganados much smarter AI so they can gang up on you and overwhelm you in various ways - if they could do things like lunge at you while sprinting, or sneak up on you while you're dealing with other enemies, could this compensate for the more refined controls?
Or, like, the Regenerator. I love that enemy, but if you could move like that you'd be able to dance around it and it's danger to you is completely removed - but you can't just make him faster or that destroys the point of a slow-but-scary enemy that you have to kill with the infrared scope. How can you rebalance the Regenerator so it's still a major threat that induces terror in the player?
Sorry for the word dump, but I love RE4. Only Resident Evil game I've beaten.
Literally the best RE game and best Capcom game and anyone who disagrees can take it up with the man (my 5 inch wanger)
I dont have the curse of nostalgia glasses. I played it for the first time in like 2016. It was amazing and blew my mind even then.
>that spoiler
Here I was about to agree with you on everything and then you go and invalidate your opinion just like that
babbys first RE
How can it be shit if it inspired this?
cógelo.. cógelo.. cógelo..
The only good part was the Village.

>maybe it was a good game if you were 7 at the time of it's release
This post was brought to you by the 1997 gang.
OP is a fag
Literally all they have to do is remake it with modern graphics 1:1 and then give Leon the ability to strafe like Chris in RE5.
He still has to stop to shoot, but even being able to strafe would make it feel much more modern without sacrificing all the level design and balance
what in the fuck is this
I'm sorry user, but I'm a zoomzoom and I can't get used to the OG games and their tank controls combined with the camera. RE4's are fine since the camera's behind you, but I'm terrible at controlling the original games, and the remakes seem like they really butcher the originals, so I'm kind of stuck at an impasse. Got any advice?
>my little bro in 96
>he understands that its fun but also not actually RE
Good thing he barely made the cut, 5 is more fun in bro-op than 4 anyways.
I love these fucking movies. You ever get together with friends and watch them? It's hilarious
Its resident evil with dodge rolls user, didnt you know dodge rolls make everything better because it allows retards to let enemies close without worry?
Thats how I first watched it, it was priceless since a few of us are die hard classic RE fans and were laughing our ass off while also wondering how chris is still the best character even in cheesy movies.
have you tried being less of a zoom zoom and adapt to new controls? make an effort for once in your life
>and the remakes seem like they really butcher the originals
Remake 2 butchers some of the presentation for sure but as a classic RE route running survival horror game it's fantastic, better than the OG RE2 in that regard.
It is such a shame that a lot of resident evil fans cannot see the forest for the trees when it comes to recognizing the greatness that this game brings to the table. Not a survival horror by any means but still objectively the best designed game in the series and easily the most replayable.
Honestly, just try to get into the feel. Work with their controls, not against them, and you'll eventually feel it click. Practice moving around a bunch. Fire up RE2 and practice dodging the zombies at the beginning of the game in the open streets areas.
Just remember that pressing up moves your character forward in the direction they're facing no matter what camera angles change. That's why they work so well once you get the hang of them. From there it's all just slight adjustments left and right to turn or aim.
Literally:
Pressing one (1) button moves you forward no matter what the camera does. Once you get the hang of that everything else falls into place
This game eternally booty-blasted OG RE fans because it made their games look obsolete and brought the series to new heights.
RE2 is at 5.8 mil now.
What are you even talking about? RE4 is widely considered to be one of the greatest games of all time both within RE and outside of it
>Not a survival horror by any means but still objectively the best designed game in the series and easily the most replayable
Both of these are wrong.
I'll tell you why it's bad right now
>This game began Resident Evil's downfall of shifting the tone from cheesy horror schlock to cheesy action movie schlock
>The movement controls are terrible
>The aiming is terrible
>Escorting Ashley makes me want to commit suicide
>The game goes completely off the rails when you get to the castle
>The game thinks that throwing a hundred enemies at you at once while giving you minimal ammo counts as a challenge
>The game wants to be a fast paced action game but it routinely breaks pacing to force you to solve a low IQ puzzle just to please the original fans
>You never feel like Leon is in any real danger throughout the story because he's always quipping
>obsolete
kek why are RE2make fans so insecure? just play the old ones I promise it's worth it
you haven't experience the series until you have
Learn that up means walk forward.
>game that came out when gaming got you bullied
>vs gaming in 2019 where everyone has a ps4 and loves to buy whats new and shiny
No shit it sold more dipshit.
based
Thanks anons, I suppose I have no choice but to just try to get used to it as best I can. If I'm playing the first one before the rest, should I start with the original or REmake? I hear way more positive things about 1's remake than the other remakes.
>game that came out when gaming got you bullied
>people got bullied for playing ps1 games
What bizarro dimension did you live in?
I hope
It's probably my favorite game of all time and I own a copy for like 7 different systems, but I also love classic RE and would rather see more of it in the future. That design just has more potential because you can always design new mazes and puzzles, but they'll never replicate RE4's gameplay again.
REmake is considered the crown jewel of classic RE, but honestly you might be better served starting with OG 2.
Damn. A good list for once.
The "born in 2001" dimension
Why do people give 5 and 6 so much shit when they're literally 4 clones with better controls?
This.
You don't just create tension by having barely any ammo or health packs in a game.
You make compromises on the ease of control, limit what you can see, randomize enemy move sets/ make more of them, etc.
The fact that you can't walk and aim at the same time in RE4 is brilliant.
The tank controls and fixed camera angles in the original RE games were great too once you realized you don't need pinpoint aiming.
Why do you think balancing it around new controls is impossible? Surely if they managed to make combat in RE2 and R3 good RE4 won't be much trouble.
OP is a faggot and everyone knows it
>Its remake will be better
There is absolutely no way an RE4make won't somehow fuck up the delicate balance that makes the original work.
There is no "one thing" that makes RE4 a masterpiece, it's how all the pieces click together. RE4make would make changes and all though it would probably be ok it would absolutely be inferior and dare I say, soulless.
>they have none of 4's charm
>Leon is infinitely more likeable than Chris
>RE6 Leon is nothing like RE4 Leon
>RE4's over-the-top shit was fun and cool, but RE6's over-the-top shit was boring and made you roll your eyes
>no ballistics
This sounds like what somewhat said about zombies in RE2 before the Remake
6 is linear cinematic trash that throws you from one setpiece into the other with no breathing room
5 is too action oriented and the AI is stupid as fuck, which makes playing it in co-op as the only viable option for enjoyment. As a co-op game, it is great, but if you play RE for the multiplayer experience, you are a faggot and you should kys
When I was in high school people that played video games were called nerds and bullied. The only kids that played video games were the smart kids and true gamers, now game is just a fad everyone does. That's why most games are brain dead easy now.
Because they utterly fail to capture what made 4 so good? There's a lot to talk about but right off the bat shoehorned partners instantly destroys any atmosphere or fear that would have been created by a sense of isolation
The kind where being a nerd and playing games wasnt hip until the very late 90s.
Dont fake it user, I know you werent there.
Tons of people LOVED the ps1
Tons more didnt give a single fuck and anyone who talked games was an easy target
>born in 2001
>that meas I didnt go to school until fucking uncharted
Good job retard.
You played yourself.
>This sounds like what somewhat said about zombies in RE2 before the Remake
REmake2 *did* fuck up the zombies though, they had to make them insane bullet sponges as a band-aid fix since TPS aiming made them trivial.
It absolutely would be soulless, but it's also almost guaranteed to happen and guaranteed to sell millions. Unfortunately nobody cares about Code Veronica and Capcom loves money so RE4 is a prime target
You can aim up and blow heads off with the shotgun in classic re user
