Ff7 not-remake

is it so bad it’s actually good now?

Honestly though how could you fuck up this terribly unless it was intentional? I don't see how you could just accidentally end up with such a perfectly tuned piece of absolute shit. It was honestly like the perfect storm to create a franchise self implosion

This is literally the The Last Jedi of vidya. I cannot wait for the normies to get the game.

If the time ghosts are just forcing the original events to happen anyway, why didn't they just follow the original story without them? What is the point?

Why are you faggots so deceitful? The game is GOTY and the ending was great.

Yas Forums hates it so it's probably good

It’s great but contrarian shit lords think they can design a game better so they’re whining like usual. All these faggots come out of the woodwork sayin they can do it better but never prove it like assholes.

No not really, it's the same game with expanded content and a twist at the end
>time ghosts
Hyperbole

The game is great. For about 90% of the playthrough then Nomura infects it with Kingdom Hearts tier convoluted faggotry that completely ruins the experience.

The final two fights are even cool from a visual and action point of view, but they aren't worth the price of what it does to the narrative, of what it does to the memory of one of the greatest games of all time.

Yeah, they aren’t really ghosts. They’re Time Jannies.

>changebad ghosts themselves are the bad change

What are these ghosts anyway

>I ain't 'fraid of no ghost

No.
The overt story changes are shit.
The more nuanced changes people are ignoring are shit too.
The new content is shit.
Some of the recreated content is great and the combat us fun.

It's a shit recreation. The game is a great battle system squandered mostly on trash with a couple excellent sequences. Aka, the norm for Toriyama and Nomura. Only difference is they didn't even make the good parts this time, they're all lifted from the original.

The Last Jedi had absolutely no redeeming qualities throughout, this is an overall enjoyable if not a little disappointing experience with a horrific ending that ruins it. Completely different thing.

>contrarian shit lords think they can design a game better
Yeah.
Just copy the original.

How do you fuck it up so bad? There were already enough plot changes to cause a butterfly effect but the time jannies didn't care about those, this will probably end up being where they know Aeris is gonna get killed and they refuse to give in to the history niggas forcing it to happen, like when they refused to sacrifice Yuna to stop Sin in FFX.
FF7R is literally the baking soda of video games at this point.

>The Last Jedi had absolutely no redeeming qualities throughout
Good theming, good performances, a good direction for future movies (that Disney ignored for obvious reasons), a few good jokes and a nice end point for Luke. The movie has serious problems, but it's still the third best Star Wars movie. Which is to say everything but 4 and 5 was pretty goddamn trash.

Was groaning at the idea but pretty hyped now that I've seen the leaks. If I wanted the original story I would and I do play the original. Only zoomers who want to "replace" the original are mad about this.

I didn't want it to be 1:1 either, but I wanted literally ANYTHING but alternate universes and timelines and shit.

get out newfag

I wanted an expanded version of the world of FF7. I was excited to see Jessie and the rest of AVALANCHE getting more involvement and development, and I was optimistic toward the idea of new characters like motorcycle guy bringing more to the plot and shaking things up. Midgar fleshed out and expanded to a whole game sounded great. I didn't want just the original again. But this new plot shit sounds awful. I could not have expected it to turn out like this. My problem isn't it being new or different it's that the new and different stuff sounds like it fucking sucks. Also the Whisper Harbinger and his three goons looks like an incredibly dull and repetitive boss that drags on for way too long and does nothing exciting or fun. The end of the game looks like absolute dogshit regardless of what you think about the plot.

can i get a quick rundown
what happens at the end

It's still stupid. It's Nomura trying to make an overly convoluted story with time travel and parallel universes to justify INEVITABLY keeping Aerith alive and bringing Zack back for cheap emotional manipulation. The only thing I'll give him credit for is doing it at the beginning of the game and not at the end, because if he changed a bunch of shit and THEN this was the big reveal, then it would cheapen everything that happens period. As it stands, it's mostly the sheer idiocy of the ghosts physically interfering with events and doing shit like carrying Hojo off like it's a fucking cartoon.

>the events of VII and AC have already happened in another timeline
>the ghost things are Whispers of Fate that try to keep the characters in line with the original game
>Biggs and Wedge live. Jessie dies.
>after the highway chase Cloud and co. fight the Whispers of Fate and beat them, making it so they're no longer bound by the original FFVII's storyline. During the battle the party see the AC version of the final Cloud vs Sephiroth fight and old Nanaki with his cubs running towards a destroyed Midgar, Red XIII guesses they're visions of the future that awaits them if they fail
>Sephiroth shows up after beating them. Fight is basically AC-tier of anime bullshit with Aeris and Tifa joining in. Sephiroth gets a black wing mid-fight because of course he fucking does
>while this happens we flashback to Zack surviving his last stand in an alternate timeline
>after beating Sephiroth he teleports Cloud to the "edge of creation" and asks for his help in "defying destiny... together". He refuses and fight similar to their final omnislash duel ensues
>the party escapes Midgar. We continue Zack's scene with him walking to Midgar with a comatose Cloud holding on to him. Remake Aeris and Alt! Zack sense each other
>fade to black

>nice end point for Luke
Not before first destroying his character in the very same film. At least RotS somewhat redeems him alittle bit but all 3 Disney Wars movies are at the bottom of the list.

>Not before first destroying his character in the very same film.
Fuck off, idiot

>Destroying his character.
>By depicting him as someone who always looks to the negative instead of the positive and made a lot of mistakes before doing the right thing.
Uh huh. Again, movie's bad, but it's sure as fuck better than almost all the rest. Still mad Phasma's ending got cut, it actually gave Finn some level of payoff.

Nomura is not a good storyteller. Even the scenes that adhere to the original have this veil of Nomura's awkward flow of conversation over them.
>inb4 it was always bad
The other FF games with voice acting, which have worse stories than 7, lack this Nomura stiffness.

Ignore the retards, user

>No argument, just "everyone who disagree dumb."
You sound reasonable.

The Mako reactor segment was better in some ways and worse in others. The stiffness was mostly sidestepped, but it also had weird unnecessary transition cutscenes.

Say what you will about the story but the gameplay is great and there's lots of it.

TLJ split the fanbase, it didn't turn everyone against Disney. Some people are just so fucking braindead they can't fathom their favorite studio making something bad so they twist their own opinions and memories around that fact.

Nomura should've just been fired and Kitase should've directed, I don't know why the time janny and Sephiroth shit exists at all.

>of what it does to the memory of one of the greatest games of all time.

Oh shut the fuck up. It does nothing to harm the original. Get your head out of your ass

>Kitase
>Taking charge without Sakaguchi shadow-directing.
lol

I wonder who could be behind this post...

This is such a retarded opinion. The game could have had an expanded story that isn't time travel bullshit.

There's a lot of stupid people out there who think everything needs to be explained. God forbid the remake just added choices.

When does "the original still exists" as a flimsy justification for clumsy revisionism of once beloved stories become a bannable offense?

or maybe those people really enjoyed tlj

Anybody tried out the Hard mode yet?
Just started it and it seems kinda silly that you can't use items at all. I had grenades put on quick select on my first playthrough and those were really valuable when I ran out of mana but now I guess I can't do that.

Some people also enjoy scat. Some people should just be shot.

You do not understand the character of Luke Skywalker nor his character arc of the original trilogy if you truly believe this. Whatever is the case, you'll fall back to saying it's a shit series anyways but I recommend watching them again. Luke is all about hope and redemption.

I'm honestly kind of intimidated since it hard limits your amount of heals, I might do it after grinding up additional restore materia.

You see, it doesn't matter if Mark Hamill himself thinks the way they wrote Luke was retarded, IT BROKE NEW GROUND!

The only ground they broke is the fan's expectations for the next one. They can't even claim that they dared changing things because everything they do change gets canceled or reset back to 0 by the end of the next movie. What a waste of potential. To whomever said it had a good theme should go back to their stale animes. It's not because you tack on a "theme" on your storyboard that it has any majesty or purpose to it.

Yeah it's weird since they also buff up the enemies on top of restricting items. Kinda limits the way you can play the game if you're on hard.

I agree, what kind of faggot hates scat?

I think they just basically tacked it on as an afterthought, the game does seem designed to be played on Normal.

Everyone whining about the writing quality should go back and actually play the original, VII's story was always fanfic quality with nonsensical plots and campy characters.

>B-But muh faithfulness!

Literally everyone involved with the original is working on this. Don't blame Nomura.

Complaining about the changes is tantamount to entitled whining, they told you long in advance that this wouldn't be a 1:1 remake and SE doesn't owe your precious nostalgia anything. This is THEIR product and property, exhibiting THEIR ideals and creativity - forcing devs to make only what we want to see will be the death of games as an art form.

>B-Bait and switch!

Don't pretend this is an ethics issue, you're just mad you didn't get what you wanted. Plenty of other franchises have intentionally mislead players to surprise them with a twist and have been praised for it when pulled off well.

>>It's just like muh KH 2.124366 Dream Drop Bullshit!

If you feel the story is needlessly convoluted you should try to actually pay attention for a few minutes, it's a remarkably simple concept to grasp and presented in a way that upholds the integrity of the original while allowing the creative freedom to tell the story the way they want to tell it. It's nowhere near as batshit insane as the crap Nomura and Kojima have cooked up.

It's not GOTY, but it isn't garbage either. Get over your autism.

Yeah, after whining and being a fucking shit for most of a movie.
Happens in New Hope, he's nothing but pessimism in Empire, happens in Return. If you wanna put Luke on a pedestal that's fine, but that doesn't change that they wrote a good ending for him.

Too long, didn't read

So what went wrong in development you think?
My bet is that Sony wanted it out as fast as possible before the PS5, but the team (already being rushed) was also stretched across multiple projects, like KH3, and when they finally announced they only got as far as designing Midgar, Sony forced them to do this "episode" shit, meaning that they're just in a constant rush to get the damn game done. Sony is fine with the product not being perfect because they're already planning to release the "Definitive" (read: Finished) edition on the PS5 on a single disk

literally kingdom hearts tier of fuckery bullshit hope you people enjoy your ff7r 3.5 bullshit drop distance

>You see, it doesn't matter if Mark Hamill himself revised his opinion after sitting on it a while, he must have lied since it doesn't fit my narrative.
I don't care if you like it or hate it, anyone who uses this tactic is a faggot.

If they were being rushed they'd do less work, not more. No one asked for ghosts, or a final boss against Sephiroth at the "edge of creation". They worked more for less.

>So what went wrong in development you think?
The answer is and always has been Nomura.
