Hmm. Well, it could be a lot of things. For starters, the fact that sephiroth shows up so many times in midgar alone. The KH ghosts trying to make sure that the story goes as it should. The fact that you only get a few summoning materia and their AI is trash. The amount of times the plot ghosts show up to try and prevent Nomura from spoiling the entire games plot only to have it spoiled anyways. The fact that we were promised tons of flesh out but there’s only a few character side missions, most side missions are generic fetch quests which in interviews the devs said it wouldn’t be like that. The choice to make it more like AC than source material. Sephiroth showing the whole crew “lol check it out I learn meteor and try and destroy the planet” only to turn around and say “I wanna merge with the universe livestream and cloud, even though I basically thought you were no more than shit on my shoe the first time around now I need your help :)”

Or maybe it’s the fact that this all happens and then the devs expect me to wait up to years for the next small chunk of the game to come out, it’s actually appalling how many people think that it’s totally fine to release full price of a game DLC to continue the base plot. It’s worse than Early Access it’s actually cancer

It's a remake that's entire plot is hinged on you playing the original game(otherwise the plot and significance of the changebad ghosts is completely lost), but also takes a massive shit all over the original story.

It's also a remake that only covers 1/10th of ther original and already covered every major plot point from ther original game.
