The lack of Victorian Era games on the market is honestly kinda cringe

What? We have Assassins Creed Syndicate... VampYr and ughhh? Fuck knows bros we don’t have any

Red Dead Redemption 2 is in America and has Victorian vibes in Saint Dennis but not much else

Arcanum

I’m not playing a game made for gen x boomers.

The Order: 1886

So start a petition for Activision to have it remade in HD with all the cut cintent and features

Bloodborne nails it well. Sucks to be PCock only.

Attached: Bloodborne.jpg (1920x1080, 187.83K)

That one and Black Flag were honestly the only AssCreed games I like, and ofc the OG trilogy.

Does Bloodborne count?

MediEvil 2

fable 3

Bloodborne is gothic Victorian so I guess but I already 100% that back in 2014

Vampyr isn't set in the Victorian era. It's set in 1918, over a decade after Queen Victoria died.

Already 100% that game, it didn’t deserve the hate but it was short

first game I 100%ed in the first run

>tricorne
>victorian
the state of normalfaggot game devs

Late Victorian and early Edwardian are pretty similar culturally, post-ww1 changed it

There's the sȫyweebs' Bloodborne... and Arnor Londo but, yeah -- there's definitely a dearth of Victoria era aesthetic in games

>technical theory
it's more difficult to model cities / worlds with intricate Victoria architecture (murals, curlicue, balustrades etc.) than modern blocks and cubes

>conspiracy theory
they don't want the zoomers seeing what real art looked like, and thus inadvertently red-pilling them to the decline of civilisation

Attached: decline.jpg (1349x1833, 236.84K)

>it didn’t deserve the hate but it was short
Yeah it did. Pretty game though, if you can look past all the smoke and mirrors and letterbox.

To destroy ones culture you must also deny ones history.

Destroying old architecture is a way of doing that exact thing

>me on top of Dunstanburgh castle

It's not a great game for 60 bucks, but if you bought it for 20 there's no way you're going to hate it. It's 20 bucks worth of quality if a bit formulaic content

rent free

I redboxed it for 2 days and I still felt I overpaid. It's trash.

Attached: Good level design.webm (640x360, 2.86M)

yeah but shame about it being Fable 3.

I hate modernshit architecture so much

Attached: 0f7110e54ab337f6bc4715794bed9709.jpg (3000x4000, 2.84M)

It's such a kino aethetic, such a bloody shame devs don't use it more often. Even the London parts in Alice: Madness Returns were quite pretty to look at

How's vampyr lads?

looks like a realistic minecraft mod

hahahahah there you go fag. you´re statement in the OP is has been refuted. intentionally missing out on one of the best games shows how zoomish you are.
also greedfall

I'm not paying even 5 dollars for a 5 hour basic TPS with pretty graphics and a QTE final boss that is the exact same as a previous QTE boss.

Pretty “okay” souls style game

This is true

Greedfall is just Spanish conquistador in a steampunk world. Not Victorian at all. I saw the e3 gameplay for that shit

>Red Dead Redemption 2 is in America and has Victorian vibes in Saint Dennis but not much else
RDR2 is soulless trash

Attached: red.jpg (480x420, 25.4K)

Fuck off, RDR2 is soulful trash

it plays like dark souls? I thought it was some adventure type shit with you talking to people a lot, like vampire the masquerade

>modernshit architecture
I doubt it even qualifies, given the term derives from "master of building"...
>person skilled in the art of building, one who plans and designs buildings and supervises their construction," 1560s, from Middle French architecte, from Latin architectus, from Greek arkhitekton "master builder, director of works," from arkhi- "chief" (see archon) + tekton "builder, carpenter," from PIE root *teks- "to weave," also "to fabricate."

...and there's little mastery required to plug some shit into an algorithm, to have it spit out stacked, monochromatic coffins

Attached: neo_dystopia.jpg (768x1024, 122.43K)

Greedfall is more baroque and that's like 200 years before the Victorian era.

Why not? I play a lot of 5 hour basic TPS games just because the premise seems cool. If anything the short duration should be a positive here

You’re beyond wrong. It’s kinoful as fuck faggot. There literally hasn’t been a bad Red Dead game

Attached: EED6B38E-BAF8-4D72-8F7B-F0FE1F3A83C0.jpg (1920x1080, 442.2K)

>muh brick, soot, and brown rust
Fuck off, retards. Architecture is cooler now than in your shitty Oliver Twist fantasies

Attached: Burj-Khalifa01_16ef4bc8658_large.jpg (750x563, 65.29K)

FF8 has a ton of cool European inspired architecture in it

Attached: 956C8E3C-34F9-4AE1-A269-4B964729C44B.jpg (1920x1080, 157.84K)

>...and there's little mastery required to plug some shit into an algorithm, to have it spit out stacked, monochromatic coffins
Even less mastery is required to build a cookie cutter house (yes, back then there were very, very few building layouts to choose from) and sprinkle some ornaments onto it.

>it didn’t deserve the hate
It absolutely does and I only paid $15 for it. The only thing it did well was the shootouts and unique weapons of which there are barely any.
They completely waste their setting, they introduce vampires halfway into the story only to immediately kill them off, every single character is unlikable, Galahad is dreadful and even pulls off a Dark Knight speech at the end of the game as if you even care about him, the story is a complete mess, despite having a ton of collectibles they barely flesh out the world itself, barely anything about the Holy Grail drink is really explained, you feel like you're constantly being shuffled around in a straitjacket of linearity that you occasionally break free of for some shootouts, and the worst part about it is that a 100% run of the game (I.E. the platinum) is less than 5 hours long. You can beat the entire game in an afternoon.

Attached: The Order_ 1886_20170223024534.jpg (1920x1080, 739.4K)

TLDR it for me moose boy

Attached: E6B5D0B5-B069-473D-8026-1E999A2EBFC4.gif (498x498, 1.99M)

Calling The Order "basic" is being generous. It's a joyless experience and a strain on the eyes

The shooting and weapons were good.
Everything else was wasted horribly.

The only people that really enjoy the victorian aesthetic are cringe endusing kids that wear a top hat to school and probably go on reddit. Ive seen a few in person

>he didn't spend 50% of his playtime flying around the map in photo mode
You don't even understand the point of this game

now this is what I call retarded

bloodborne not only has fucking nothing to do with out world, what it does try to look like is infinitely closer to prague, romanian country and cityscapes and so on to give you this gothic transilvania. Its "victorian" for faggots who bought too hard into the mutt-fied voice direction of english actors

There was no photo mode when I played that trash

You complain but ask yourself what games can they make in Victoria London?

Architect here.
Architecture design follows the tools, necessities and knowledge avaliable at the time with some inertia until it catches up.
All the "proper" architecture examples you're posting were built in a time were they were exhausting their own style because architects got to a stagnating point where they did nothing but gravitate towards and from Vitruvius who was an ancient Roman Greekaboo himself. In the late XIX century this way of making architecture proved itself extremely limiting given the tools avaliable and lots of mediocre cookie cutter buildings were made in that style.

There's lots of worthy knowledge in the ancient architecture that still applies, but just copying it as is became more vice than virtue. Also worth noting that the romans were extremely practical builders as far as civilizations go. They did not lose time with overdesigned façades for buildings that weren't very important and invented the first kind of concrete which they used in most of their constructions. If they had our tools their runs would look very different.

Man I have an illogical distaste for vanity height.
And I will share it with you all for free

Attached: spires suck.jpg (900x586, 87.94K)

What the hell are you babbling about, the castle wasn't destroyed. Nobody who owns it has bothered to maintain it for 400 years

Dishonored had a pretty Victorian aesthetic, even if it did have fantasy whale tech in it.

Attached: Dishonored-large-82.jpg (1100x880, 161.66K)

It's not illogical, you hate all those resources going to waste

sure thing its a fucking movie not a game
graphics is nice but gameplay is much worse than red dead revolver
this is fucking laughable

Never said it was destroyed fggt

thief you retard
do you know thief?
thief
thief is is set in vicoian era
play thief you mega zoomer

I played thief 2013 and it’s literally just a medieval semi-steampunk game. It isn’t Victorian at all

>I played thief 2013

Attached: 1343602557378.jpg (125x125, 3.79K)

Thief 1 and 2 aren't set in the victorian era.

Play Greedfall

How to "represent Victorian era" in modern media
>everyone either drinks himself to death or is an aristocrat
>1/3 population is non-white, if setting is in London then the ratio is 1/2, if its a colony its surprisingly 1/4, everyone else in cages
>racial diversity but every white man is a racist with a mustache
>modern hair cuts
>no spirit of cooperation, just bleak depression
>technology speeding up like never before but everyone not in ball dress is behaving like a soccer troglodyte
