In the context of the franchise he's right.
In RE1 she had a very practical design.
Her new design sucks. Playing in her original costume doesnt feel any different. Not only that but they still sexualize her a lot ala Nu-lara with all her moans and getting violently thrown around. If anything I think this remake depicts her as weaker compared to the original.
In RE1 she was a cop on a mission
In RE3 she was out whoring in the city when the virus hit. If anything it makes less sense that she would be battle-ready
I don't get it. They open up the remake showing a calendar with Jill busting out of the city in 4 days. Unless her experience at the Arclay manor gave her enough PTSD to turn her into a doomsday prepper there's no real reason for her to have a "believable" zombie apocalypse outfit on.
I thought it made sense for her to be in civilian clothes since she was in hiding after the events of resi 1
Honestly speaking, I think we all need to just drop the whole belief that a woman can't be sexy.
She wasn't really a doomsday prepper but she was actively investigating Chief Irons and the RPD along with a suspected Umbrella facility somewhere in Raccoon City
>It's not practical bro
Honestly speaking, I think we all need to just drop the whole belief that a woman can be anything but a recepticle for piss and semen
Ada was a spy masquerading as Ben Bertolucci's contact. The virus broke out of nowhere and you were fighting in whatever you were in
>She wasn't really a doomsday prepper but she was actively investigating Chief Irons and the RPD along with a suspected Umbrella facility somewhere in Raccoon City
We don't really see any of that, just her having a conspiracy wall and a letter saying that she's suspended from duty.
There is nothing believable about her outfit.
>Super skinny jeans lack of mobility
> sleeveless shirt exposed vulnerable arms
> tactical belt with no keepers = ur shit getting jacked and slung around
> drop holster lower than arms natural reach
> ZOMBIE GAME = full on realistic though amirite virtue signalers?
There's a reason Ada waltzes around in heels and a revealing chinese dress rather than some practical espionage getup, and it's not just because she's undercover for Umbrella, though that gives it a convenient in-universe explanation.
It's because femininity is power for female characters. Ada is cool, confident and sexy, something all women want to be, the same way that people admire male characters who are confident, masculine and strong.
Jill's original RE3 design arose from the same idea. She's a cool, confident and attractive character.
The RE3 remake Jill might as well be a completely different character altogether, one colored by a modern cliche of what a female action hero should be (that is, a plain jane covered in grime with messy hair who is kind of a bitch to anyone who dares talk to her).
Her new design comes from the ideology that strength and attractiveness are somehow divorced for women.
>Jill's origina outfit was too sexual and not the right directino
>so we changed into NuLara outfit the official "was too sexual originally" outfit for rebooted characters
The reason she is dressed like that is because the character designer thought she looked sexy and cool
That's it
Her bare shoulders and sweater wrapped around her waist were always stupid.
>She is a strong character
Stop reading right there; you can do both without a single issue. These just were hipersensitive faggots.
Yes, he liked sexy and cool female characters. A lot of people do. A lot of people admire sexy and cool women. A sexy, cool, feminine woman is seen as powerful by many.
To say a woman can't be strong because she is sexy and cool is an ignorant puritan thing to say and results in shitty ugly designs like the new Jill design.
>this upsets the incel retard
>Her bare shoulders
ABSOLUTELY HARAM
No, he doesn’t. Fun is more important than muh realism.
there's nothing wrong with having sex appeal. if wearing a skirt is seen as sexual to these fuckers then i hope they are banned from going near schools.
Daily reminder that videogames are first and foremost entertainment and entertainment not only is allowed to as MUST be first and foremost self-indulgence of the highest caliber.
You miserable cretins who experienced entertainment media during the 80's onward have this idea that it has to fulfill the roles of enduitment, philosophical introspection and artistic value, when it does not have to do that, it however CAN do that if it is necessary. Entertainment media is supposed to be merely disposable entertainment. Some of it passes as philosophical, artistic and erudite, such as an Andrey Tarkovski movie or a novel by Charles Dickens, but a movie like "Revenge of the Nerds" or a novel like "50 Shades of Grey" is just ENTERTAINMENT™ and it is there just to satisfy your every desire, baby.
Seek philosophical fulfillment by reading into actual philosophy, not by spouting fake-deep quotes from nihilistic characters in movies and games like a 14 year old. Look for enduitment by reading history, political theory and economy, and seek artistic value with actual works of art, preferably Renaissance and Pre-Raphaelite art.
Otherwise, kindly suck my ballsack.
Yours truly,
- user
They can give any excuse they like but it's all bullshit. Nobody complained about her outfit in the movie.
Yeah it's hot but still retarded.
Did Siena never have the white sweater wrapped around her waist? I don't remember that.
The difference is that in RE1 Jill was being intentionally sent to a location on a mission and was dressed for the occasion, but the original context for RE3 is Jill being caught in Raccoon City as shit went critical and leaving her apartment in a hurry in casual civilian clothes. So in the context of Re3 they miss the point. This also implies that female video game characters can't ever be sexy without it being some grave offense, which is pretty silly.
Yeah it really breaks my immersion, I cant even show it to my mom she would be like "Eugh this is so problematic, looks like I'll have to put cigarettes under your foreskin again"
>giving a fuck about practicality and believably when you can play as a giant fucking block of tofu in 2
I honestly find it refreshing when devs/artists don't give a shit. Capcom probably used some out of date american fashion mag from the 80's for "reference" and came up with this. It didn't change the fact that she would be lovingly cosplayed for years to come. The same can be said for Lara Croft in the old Tomb Raiders. Same attitude of devs not really giving a shit since the priority is on making a good game first and foremost. And if an artist sneaks his/her fetish in? At least it was made with passion and soul.
It's just a shitty ideology move. Nobody actually thinks women can't be both sexy and strong. In fact, athletic women tend to be very attractive.
I always thought the justification was that it's a really hot summer in racoon city?
Jeans and tanktop tough girl look is getting kind of stale desu
She has a sweater handy.
Practicality in games where you carry around miniguns and railguns is a null argument and just a roundabout way to say that people gets offended by sexy characters.
Same shit with the "I want my chicks in REAL armor xD" where the discussion about realism starts and stops to boobplate even in games like a fucking Final Fantasy.
Never played the original but was she supposed to be at the center of the outbreak right when she was just casually there? was she on a day-off or what? To me its the only way to justify the classic outfit, she was just there with what she had on a casual day.
On a mission? Sure, now i understand the tactical shit pants and everything else
>Capcom probably used some out of date american fashion mag from the 80's for "reference" and came up with this. It didn't change the fact that she would be lovingly cosplayed for years to come. The same can be said for Lara Croft in the old Tomb Raiders.
really makes you think
you could say these new developers are even the same
She was basically under house arrest before everything went down and even after shit hit the fan, she stayed camped in her apartment for 3 days before leaving.
Of you preordered the game they give you her original outfit. It looks awful by the way.
Her STARS uniform is by far the best looking costume in RE3. Seems like that’s the only one they put real effort into.
>Tumblr faggots worshipping Dark Souls for giving males and females the same armor and not "sexualizing" female armor
>game allows you to plunge attack a giant demon from the top of a skyscraper
Surprisingly a horror game is scarier when you as your character are unprepared for the dangers and made vulnerable.
>To me its the only way to justify the classic outfit
Please kill yourself
>Of you preordered the game they give you her original outfit.
no they dont
>Actually bothering to argue this out
There's no winning this. Industry insiders want to stay hip and with it, and that means kowtowing to modern western leftist sensibilities. We know this, they know this, they know that we know this. Only ones giving a fuck are the creators themselves who want to save face as "artists" and don't want to own up to the fact that its completely ideologically driven. The plain Jane in tank top, skinny jeans, and big attitude action hero trope is here to stay, because leftists love it.
>Of you preordered the game they give you her original outfit. It looks awful by the way.
Inspired by the original outfit, can't have skirts in the Current Year :^)
We all did. In fact we complained about how everything in the movie was complete shit. Jill takes a massive backseat to based Mila
Some retarded gook with horrible artstyle said this. Why should i agree?
>still bitching and moaning about a fucking outfit
you cretin never change
>I must consoom... everything...
Doesnt look that bad its literally near identical
The Hunger Games ruined female protagonists.
The "Art Director" for RE3 is a shitty Korean artist who can only draw generic realistic aliens and monsters.
Reminder that because of this fucker we got trash bag nemesis.
>practicality
It would be practical to remove her from the game completely, because as they strive for realism, they should understand that not a single cumdumpster would be capable of surviving in a zombie apocalypse.
Video-fucking-games are not real.
No. It's a bunch of nonsensical bullshit.
what kind of brainlet argument is this?
"leftist" ideologies mean characters wear normal clothes?
do you honestly think artists sit down in a morning and think "durr I hate drumpf!!1!", design a character like this and then think "ha! that'll show him"?
lol isn't it considered conservative to dress more covered up
The film was awful but I can't remember anyone ever complaining specifically about Jill's outfit. In fact, most would agree it was the best part.
There's nothing not normal about original RE3 Jill's outfit, and that's exactly why this is an ideologically driven change.
Didn't know Sarkeesian style feminists are conservative now.
>We all did
No we didn't
Women in battle is inherently unrealistic anyway. Her dress may as well be sexy
and isn't it considered liberal to dress less? Yet, here we are at an impasse, where the left is the one constantly demanding fictional females be covered up. At least the conservatives are consistent, they want both real and fictional women to cover up. The left is the "have my cake and eat it too" ideology where fictional women must be covered up, but the same leftist women pushing for that go on slut walks.
Why the fuck people keep saying she was at a party or some shit?
She was at her house and prepared herself for the escape. It's like people didn't even play the first game or even the remake.
You bring up a good point about the cosplayers. I guarantee that most women would still prefer to dress up like classic RE3 Jill that this bland remake Jill.
That's a good point actually. Reminder that 2B's design was made specifically to bait cosplayers and it's now one of the most popular female character designs ever.
>Nobody complained about her outfit in the movie.
No one even bothered to watch that movie. Fans hated the first movies, of course we're not going to watch the sixth one knowing it's shit beforehand.
joke's on them she's still hot
