That's generally a really solid strategy regardless of company or genre. There are so many games with great premises but piss poor execution that you could stand to make some serious dosh by being able to take those existing ideas and polishing it to a mirror shine.

It isn't. Only works if there isn't already a well established main game that people are happy enough with, or the big main game has started to make huge errors.
