Which do you think has the better character designs between Street Fighter and KOF and why?

Which do you think has the better character designs between Street Fighter and KOF and why?
What are some standouts that you like and how do you think their approach to design differed? personally I lean more on KOF.

SNK has better females capcom have better male characters

Whoever has the cutest lesbians.

I think KOF is overall way better. Street Fighter has designs I like, but most of them to me are just really boring. To me that is.

KOF and Fatal Fury are basically the first and only fighting game franchises where I actually like and care about 96% of the characters.

Attached: 455FA3.jpg (700x525, 75.33K)

SF has the better designs overall without question. More of them look like actual fighters and they have far more absolutely iconic design feature.

There was a time when I would have said KOF had more semen demons, but SF has lost all chill when it comes to fanservice, so KOF doesn't even have that over SF anymore.

>better male characters
Call me when Capcom has a male character as badass as Geese.

Attached: Geese_Howard.png (220x429, 97.35K)

Capcom as a whole, or SF? Because Capcom has plenty.

Name ONE(1) character

Generic mob boss what's that great about him

Come on bro tell me this look isn't chad as fuck.
What male Capcom designs do you like the most I've always liked Ken Guile Dudley and Vega.

Oh shit here's the image

Well I was referring to fighting games but I guess Virgil is alright.

most kofers look like random mooks off the street while SFers look odd next to the general populace even a "schoolgirl" like sakura. Characters should always stand out

I like most of them but me favourites are Zangief, Guile, Blanka, Akuma

Darkstalkers

SF is more consistent but KoF has higher highs. KoF designs really went to shit after 02 though, SFIV had some pretty terrible designs but SFV redeemed it.

Attached: Swimsuits.jpg (1041x1600, 323.3K)

There is a lot of truth to that but I really love the more down to earth designs they have they still manage to be visually interesting and stand out with personality despite that IMO

Who's the fastest swimmer in street fighter?

guilty gear and unist.

KoF tend to all be based off fashion model styles. All pretty grounded but high end in their own asian fashion in their own right.

SF feels more fantasy all around.

Generally I'd say I find myself wanting to cosplay KoF chars more but SF ones far more memorable.

Attached: strider.jpg (717x854, 46.64K)

KoF has literal gods like Orochi and Nakoruru, it's very fantastical. There's also shit like K9999 who is literally Tetsuo.

Some do most don't stand out there's at least a dozen KOF characters that are completely forgettable while most street fighter characters are memorable and unique

Oh yeah Dark stalkers is fucking based when it comes to character designs. why don't we see more from these characters I don'y know much about them?

Its not that KoF doesn't have gods, but simply that the average character line up looks down to earth and something you wouldn't raise an eyebrow over.

SF just stands out far more.

favorite coom character :)

Attached: iroha.jpg (849x1200, 99.64K)

SF has easily some of the most memorable fighting cast ever, but that's mainly because a lot of them embraced old fighting stereotypes. In contrast I like that KoF (and by extension Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, etc.) designs are more of their own thing, and how they generally give more personality to their characters beyond, again, being a preset stereotype.
My favorite fighting game designs will always be from Rival Schools though.

SNK's characters are more to my liking

Attached: 1555599356632.png (828x779, 911.18K)

SNK used to have great designs before they lost their collective souls to KOF. Samurai Showdown, Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting designs were awesome.

KoF designs absolutely suck for the most part and SF has some of the most iconic, timeless designs in the entire industry. SF has some absolute stinkers in SFIV and SFV but KoF has way too many 'dude in street clothes' or 'guy in off the shelf martial arts gear' characters that've plagued the entire series. Then you have Mai who's just COOMER overload.

I'd go as far as to say KoF is bottom tier in the genre when talking about fighting game designs from long running franchises, I'd only put MK lower.

Those look boring as fuck

that tummy is extremely visually interesting

Street Fighter has more designs that really pop and focus on incredibly athletic bodies really big hands and feet. It tends overall to look better for dudes.

SNK makes the best girl characters though. Shermie, Angel, Blue Mary, Luong, Xiao Lin, Mai, King, Vice, Mature etc. etc. etc. There also tends to be more variation in body types for both males and females.

Overall I'd say SF is more memorable to the general populace, but if you really dig into fighting games SNK has them beat hands down.

Attached: 1374647826880.gif (384x288, 927.85K)

KOF designs strike the perfect balance between wacky and grounded with every character being immediately distinct from a visual standpoint.

It also has the better waifus

Attached: maylee-kofm-art.png (712x689, 311.15K)

I really like kyo,Iori, terry,k,rock etc. I think they have really cool male character designs that have a lot of variety in body type that still looks masculine and not too girly like alot of other japanese male protags I hate that direction.

Darkstalkers

I love the female designs but the male designs never did it for me aside from maybe rikuo and lord raptor

Stop hogging the camera, you smug cat bitch. The little girl is taking her bats off.

Because after neglecting the franchise for decades Capcom has convinced themselves that it isn't profitable. The most they do is solve cameos into other games and re-release the increasingly old original games every decade or so. Darkstalkers was a franchise whose heyday was in Japanese arcades back in the mid 90s. So most people with a genuine attachment to it are Japanese people pushing 40 or older. Everyone else tends to find out about it from cameos in other games or fanart and go "Oh, cool characters" but then never even attempt to play the games because people tend not to play old games unless they're something they already have nostalgia for.

Awful taste, everyone is 10/10 in darkstalkers.

Attached: ELsjQrrW4AAyC2u.jpg (1365x2048, 539.09K)

There's also the problem that the series was incredibly influential but no one knows it... thus it comes of as "generic" 20 years later when seen by people who don't know any better. Everyone knows about Street Fighter's legacy and influence. But even Capcom themselves hardly ever put any emphasis on how Darkstalkers was innovative for its time and how it influenced Street Fighter, Marvel and dozens and dozens of other fighting games from various companies.

how so?

A few weeks ago a Capcom designer confirmed in an interview that a new Darkstalkers game was being planned but was ultimately canceled. Fang's gameplay design was originally designed for a new Darkstalkers character.

Attached: POWER TO THE EARTH.gif (400x225, 1.96M)

Do you mean how was it innovative?

Basically the entire Capcom fighting game aesthetic as we know it came from Darkstalkers. Street Fighter 2 was a lot less stylized. It also created mechanics as ubiquitous as chain combos, guard cancels, air blocking and air dashing.

>Which do you think has the better character designs between Street Fighter and KOF and why?
KOF
Characters are all diverse from combos to specials.
Don't believe me
The following 6 characters do the same HADOUKEN move, have a "variant" of it, and the same applies to shoryuken and tatsumaki senpukyaku
Ryu
Ken
Gouken
Akuma
Sakura
Dan
Urien
Yet it gets worse
This move is so god damn generic they just refurbish it, change it slightly and go it's different on the following characters.
Sagat
Chun-Li
Guile
Charlie
Juri
I mean sure Guile, Charle, Juri are more of a "slice" type projectile but they don't act any different from hadouken.
At least Kolin's ice shit is different as well as Cody's but at this point it doesn't really mean much.
Yet if you look at KoF
Iori and Terry might have a similar ground projectile but they act entirely different. Same with K, and Kyo.
Every character is at least entirely unique to the point that they don't look nor feel like entire rip offs of each other and they got a massive roster. Let's not forget how fucking different their grapplers are.
>What are some standouts that you like and how do you think their approach to design differed?
What i mentioned above about how they actually feel like a different character and not some different flavor of the same shit when it comes to Street of Fitter.

Attached: K'.jpg (210x240, 13.09K)

>chain combos
>fireball priority
>air blocking
>air dashes
>raging demon (Yes, Morrigan used it first before Akuma did technically)

How many literal clones of Kyo exist in KoF?

>How many literal clones of Kyo exist in KoF?
Post them.

not even best version

>The following 6 characters do the same HADOUKEN move, have a "variant" of it, and the same applies to shoryuken and tatsumaki senpukyaku
There's not many ways to throw a fireball user.

all kyo's are based...ok actually this weird j-pop look is really lame to me and too complicated i appreciate them trying to change things up but I really don't like alot of kof15 designs.

Attached: Kyo-kofxiv.jpg (820x1885, 274.25K)

Basado

>There's not many ways to throw a fireball
years later
How brain dead do you have to be to be amazed at 1 variant change every 10 years?
>I CAN...I CAN JUMP AND HADOUKEN THE FLOOR?
years later
>I CAN....I CAN HADOUKEN THE SKY?
At least Dragon Ball wasn't straight up retarded about their "ki blasts".

An Order Soul rip-off?

Try again.

Attached: x5cdmhe.jpg (427x640, 209.18K)

tell me this isn't the most based fucking design ever PLUS she's fun as fuck to play

Attached: shermie.png (806x1156, 310.86K)

Literally what is that?

>all kyo's are based
ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT?!

Attached: kyocut-max22.jpg (1080x668, 122.22K)

Best waifus in fighting games?

SNK and it's not even close. Because they actually look like people and not standard martial arts archetypes.

Greatest mentor wise old guy redesign in mediia eve prove me wrong.
