It takes some time to get good if you don't like it yet and the gameplay isn't quite the game's biggest focus.

The gameplay is the weakest out of what Platinum's done before, but what user said is right--this is a game that is extremely focused on using the medium to tell a story in the way that it could ONLY be done through a video game.
You will not understand this yet, because the first ending is the bait and switch. It feels shallow as fuck because it is right now. Play through 9S's route, and then play through it one more time to get your mind blown.
