>Gives the player access to a slew of strong persona right at the start of the game >One of them is level 90 and immune to everything basically >Another is fucking Thanatos from P3 and he's level 70 >Player can summon these for free and use them despite the level difference
I know it's optional, but goddamn. What a way to instantly make the game boring.
Most of the new content is history/downtime related. People who already played the game migth want to just speed past the combat.
Landon Miller
I guess? They give them to you for free, wasn't aware they were available in the original P5. I own the original but never bought any of the DLC.
Noah Hill
They gave all the Person 5 Vanilla DLCS
Jason Gomez
Is merciless mode good? I quit the vanilla game at painting palace because harder difficulties stop personas from leveling naturally (bad middle ground that makes SLink the only way to level personas) and easier difficulties remove dungeon crawling as a gameplay element
Jacob Price
I mean, I get that, but collecting persona, fusing them, and developing them is a core aspect of the game. Feels boring to just one shot all the bosses with your level 90 free persona and not even bother collecting or doing anything with the other persona in the game, or only using one persona for the entire game.
You're taking away like 60-70% of the gameplay by doing that. You'll just one shot most of the bosses and enemies and you'll beat the game super fast and never play it again. You're basically turning an 80-100 hour RPG into a 30-40 hour RPG at best. Really the only thing you'd need to do is develop confidants but with a level 90 persona it probably wouldn't matter since you'd steamroll everything in combat, so honestly you could really rush through the game if you wanted.
You do realize you can change the difficulty at one time, right? You don't have to start over. Just switch to merciless and try it out? Or does the game not let you change difficulties when you play on merciless?
Brayden Roberts
I remember some going through the whole game up until the new final boss using on Izanagi-no-Okami and Myriad Truths
Julian Ross
In Royal, Merciless is like Easy mode but you do less dmg, you gain the same EXP and Items as if you were playing on Easy.
I mean, regular Izanagi starts at level 20, so he's not really "broken" and you could probably just level him up throughout the game, and I think Orpheus starts at level 38 or something, so I think it'd be cool to just use those two for most of the game. Using the P3 MC's persona and P4 MC's persona. And when you reach a high enough level you could go ahead and purchase their picaro forms to get a sense of evolution I guess.
Wyatt Wright
Really with all the QoL changes and stuff I don't think you'd really find it hard to kill anything. Gun ammo replenishes after each battle so you can spam gun shots and just kill things with guns, especially if you keep upgrading their weapons. Well, except for enemies resistant to gun fire, but still. It's fun/nice to just unload a barrage of gunfire on an enemy. If they aren't resistant to gun dmg then you can usually kill them with just gunfire and not have to worry about regulating or saving ammo.
Hudson Lee
This bothered me too. Why weren't they integrated into the game? Could have easily made costumes purchasable or even quest rewards as well. Instead they slapped the DLC port and were done with it. And then added more DLC worth a full game on top of a re-release of full game. There's no way anyone with any braincells can justify this.
Wait, where is any of this stuff? Is it paid DLC? Is it free DLC? Do you automatically have the option to summon the personas from Caroline and Justine right off the bat or what? I've not heard of this, is all.
It's free DLC. You need to reclaim on the store, I think its name is Persona 5 Legacy Pack or something like that.
Jeremiah James
All the original P5 DLC is free. You have to download a pack though, it doesn’t just come automatically.
Logan Morris
You're complaining about DLC. Just don't download it.
Luke Thompson
It's not that bad as far as difficulty is concerned. You can't really go spamming Door of Hades and whatnot as the SP costs are too high for your level anyway. Izanagi is the only really broken one and that's level 20. Though you can turn Messiah into armor and be done with the game.
Blake Jones
What are your main Personas in the 5th palace?
Daniel Richardson
huh, they actually did that? i heard you had to double-dip even if you had the DLC from vanilla
Joseph Gomez
You heard wrong
Luis Stewart
Japan did. They got a limited time 100 yen discount thing to bring over any DLC they owned from vanilla while the West got all the OG dlc for free.
Justin Gray
Hard seems harder than merciless.
Ian Thomas
Switch port when?
Christian Morgan
its more or less a gimme for people who would rather play the game as if it were a NG+ from P5 Vanilla.
I've been using it to speed through a normal playthrough, and then afterwards im doing NG+ as if it was from where i left off in P5.
Eli Powell
I think it is. the x3 from the weakness, tech and critic that the enemy does to you, also applies for them.
Joseph Jackson
Probably not picking this up until it's 20$ or less, I beat P5 twice and I'm not paying full price for the same game with DLC baked in.
Did they nerf Yoshitsune? I know they got rid of Reaper and Confuse cheese.
What's going on with Yoshitsune? All are unlocked by default.
Jackson Jackson
Good, the amount of work it takes to get that fucker and make him broken on top of being NG+ limited most likely should be limit enough
Wyatt Campbell
>>Did they nerf Yoshitsune? Have they ever considered nerfing epic boat man?
Jacob Barnes
He's one of if not the most broken personas in the game. Because of his natural resists and immunities he can no-sell pretty much everything in the game except Almighty (and Gun I think) with the right passives
Also Hassou Tobi is a physical muti-hit that hits 8 FUCKING TIMES to everything and Charge boosts ALL of them. Motherfucker can even shred Caroline and Justine like paper, trivializes nearly the entire game.
Wyatt Ward
in the original Merciless was also easier than Hard because critical hits were ridiculously abundant. Even tho you leveled up slower you still did the most ridiculous damage because of the constant critical hits and the boss battles were also much more shorter and quicker because of it.
The real major drawback of Merciless is that since you level up slower capturing and using Personas of higher level was a bit harder.
Landon White
Kek, I should try it
Jaxon Stewart
What did they change about Merciless in Royal?
Landon Harris
I didn't get the DLC suits, only the accessories. was there something i needed to do?
>Gun ammo replenishes after each battle so you can spam gun shots and just kill things with guns
I'm not a fan of this. One of the reasons Kamoshida's palace is so good is because balancing your ammo and SP skills to hit weak points was a major test of resource management if you were trying to be optimal and clear it in one day. Once you get gun damage spells the ammo matters a lot less and guns are still suboptimal for damage.
Zachary Anderson
DOES ANYONE WANT TO TALK ABOUT THE PHANTOM THIEVES THE SUPER SECRET GROUP THAT I AM IN. WE STEAL PEOPLES HEARTS ME AND MY BUDDIES THE TRANSFER STUDENT, ANN TAKAMAKI AND YUSUKE KITAGAWA
They sound pretty cool, my favorite thing about them is that I know the transfer student is one of them. Just yesterday they changed a guy's heart, and he wanted to meet them in person so I gave him a physical description of the transfer student and told him that's the guy to talk to about changing hearts because he is a phantom thief in minecraft
Guns being regulated to abuse weaknesses is a big flaw of the original, this system is much nicer and gives guns an actual purpose (better but limited basic attack).
Dylan Adams
And as a bonus, here's Yoshi soloing the final boss's first form
Goddamn. I mean, it must feel nice having so much power but it really does trivialize the game if you can do so much damage with one move.
Isaiah Perez
Kek, what the fuck I'm so low IQ to understood that image. Are those the fusions I need to do until the final result, right?
Tyler Gray
He was designed to the self insert for most players because he's the beta incel fanboy who runs the fansite for the phantom thieves and thinks they're super cool and wishes he could be more confident and unique. Mishima literally has no friends and very RARELY hangs out with Joker except to update him on the fansite and what not.
I really felt bad for him because he seems like a nice guy that just wanted a friend.
Landon Perez
Yep you got it
Brandon Lee
Guns are still 100% worth using even after you start getting gun skills, purely because guns are free and can come with additional effects on top of the ability to crit.
Henry Cooper
Yeah and the dots correspond to the skills you need to transfer
in the end you get a Yoshi who is immune or repels everything but gun
Owen Gutierrez
It's fucking optional, if you want to cheapen your fucking game then do it.
Gabriel Carter
Do they change anything about critical hits in Merciless between P5 and Royal? Because I couldn't get through the first dungeon in vanilla P5 due to grits all over the place and yet I breezed through it in Royal.
Christopher Gray
You breezed through it in Royal because Royal made the game/combat more streamlined and easier. You can level up confidants faster, you got new confidants that weren't in the original game, you got a persona alarm upgrade that happens randomly when fusing new persona, ammo reloads after every battle, etc.
Oh, and everyone starts with baton pass as well.
Jacob Ortiz
THAT'S why. I forgot Baton Pass was a delayed upgrade in the original. It made the first dungeon so easy.
Colton Bailey
Goddamn dude, $60 for a handful of costumes and battle tracks? For a rerelease on the same console? Atlus is a bunch of madmen
