If you do enough emulator button remapping technosorcery you can even emulate twin stick controls and make the PSX games even more fun.

Yeah but if you remap directly from an emulator you can assign those buttons to your analog sticks and get actual twin stick movement. Basically you remap ingame so that the dpad controls your movement and face buttons control your camera, then via the emulator you map the dpad to left stick and face buttons to right stick. The end result is actual twinstick analog controls.

Ah I see, but would that actually make it analog? I don't know if the PS1 had pressure sensitive buttons or not.
