Just finished changing my build to Spear/1kat for NG+ after using Odachi/Switchglaive for my first playthrough.
Feels fucking great, I forgot how amazing spear is, it's the best.

I used 1kat in NG and I'm probably sticking with it for a while in NG+. I used a pretty straightforward Master Swordsman robes setup in NG but with more options opened up to me I'm thinking about going a fire sword build or maybe anima. Also thinking of picking up spear or tonfa

Spear obviously isn't an incredibly fast weapon, but in my opinion it's got one of the best skill lists.
A ton of them are all really good, whereas a lot of other weapons only have a couple that shine.
Spear feels like you can fully utilize the entire move set.
Actually utilizing the spear's range is important, and Stability is even better in 2 than it was in 1.
>Low stance is the most aggressive, has super cool shit like Flying Monkey which is basically dragoon jump
>Low is also super evasive now since you get a special ki pulse that catapults you in the direction you press
>Mid stance is the best at keeping distance then immediately changing it up when you get in close thanks to combo finishers like Tornado
>Twirl is one of the better parries in the game
>High stance is braindead easy and can shit out damage and break like no tomorrow
>ki pulse in high stance is also a free attack
>FINISHING BLOWS FOR DAYS
>Twirl? Finishing blow
>Hit enemy with Spearfall? Finishing blow
>Knocked an enemy out of ki? Merciless Barrage. You now get both a grapple and a finishing blow.

im conflicted because although I want the pistols too, Id much rather get a more fleshed out weapon. I cant imagine you could do a really complex moveset for a ranged weapon
