Just finished Halo 5. Jesus, they fucking massacred my boy. Could barely keep up, particularly because I never played Halo 4, Spartan Ops or read the 343-era Halo books
It has been implied in both Halo 1 and 2 that humans are descendants to the Forerunners, and then flat out said in Halo 3 that humans ARE Forerunners
Where was it implied that humans were forerunners? Other than what 343 says at the end of 3.
Matthew Lewis
The forruners didn't left any descendants, that would work against the plot because they struggled like hell just to survive the flood.
Both humans and the covenant are just lesser species facing the same threat of extinction Forreruners once did.
Isaiah Harris
343 has a lot of lines hinting at it in Halo 1. >More or less. Technically, this installation's pulse has a maximum effective radius of twenty-five thousand light years. But, once the others follow suit, this galaxy will be quite devoid of life, or at least any life with sufficient biomass to sustain the Flood. But you already knew that... I mean, how couldn't you? >Why would you hesitate to do what you have already done? >Last time, you asked me, if it was my choice, would I do it? Having had considerable time to ponder your query, my answer has not changed.
Sebastian Hughes
I doubt the last forreruners could even procreate considering the things they had to do to their bodies just to become immune to the flood. The fact they left no descendants tells you exactly that they simply gave up.
Julian Miller
Seems like 343 was mixed up, having a conversation with a forrunner/AI in the past. This could also be explained that Bungie didn't exactly know how Humans related to Forrunners and were just leaving it fairly open to later be elaborated on.
Jeremiah Mitchell
>It has been implied in both Halo 1 and 2 that humans are descendants to the Forerunners, and then flat out said in Halo 3 that humans ARE Forerunners Reclaimers were different post Halo 2. Joseph Staten implied that Humans and Forerunners were different post Halo 2. >HSP: When did the Forerunner die off - in human years? >JS: Inscrutable alien beings with problematic ethics never die... they just fade away. But if what you're asking is: when did the Forerunner take their "Great Journey," that would be about 100,000 years ago - around the time our Homo Sapien ancestors decided to migrate out of Africa. Mind you, that's a hotly debated paleontological theory. IRIS confirms this a year later, with Cradle of Life.
>This could also be explained that Bungie didn't exactly know how Humans related to Forerunners and were just leaving it fairly open to later be elaborated on To be honest it seemed like the writers were split. All in game dialogue and books explicitly implied humans were forerunners, but some of the lore, like from the terminals, showed they were different.

nobody cares about your oc donut steel avatar, i don't know why you even bother scrubbing the filenames when it's obviously you every time.
Jaxon Parker
Most people talk out of their asses without providing anything for backing. To expand upon what Staten said, he was hinting at the construction of that Ark portal (which was in the cradle of life). Halo 3's story was pretty much complete after Halo 2's development, considering it was leftovers. Sometime in between, they made the Forerunners entirely different. web.archive.org/web/20120601022417/http://www.gamecritics.com/interview-with-halo-3-lead-3d-artist-shi-kai-wang For example, look at the wording here. > Visual design cues for the Covenant as a whole needed to be distinguishable from the other two races, humans and Forerunner, so we went with the obvious choice of making them shinier and curvier. - Shi Kai Wang
Joseph Staten would be one of the writers I referred to wanting them to be different. Quoting him does not disprove my theory of a split staff. Furthermore, calling the Humans and Forerunners different races in interviews and such makes sense if you didn't want to spoil the reveal. Lastly, stop avatar fagging.
Anthony Clark
>But you already knew that... I mean, how couldn't you? He said this because he thought the Chief was a reclaimer, it does not at all imply that humans are forerunners.
Dominic Foster
Alone it does not imply it. It fits quite nicely into 343's habit of assuming everyone knows what he knows. It's the following lines that put it into a more telling context.
Benjamin Cooper
He also thought the idea of Johnson being Flood immune was retarded, considering the fact he wanted them to have no form of actual weakness. >Furthermore, calling the Humans and Forerunners different races in interviews and such makes sense if you didn't want to spoil the reveal. What reveal? There's tons of sources of them changing their minds after Halo 2. They made it up along the way, and it wasn't really brought up until post Halo 2.
>What reveal? 343's line at the end of 3. >There's tons of sources of them changing their minds after Halo 2 Yes. That fits in perfectly with what I'm saying. It implies at some point the writers were all on board with the two being the same race. It seems like some of them stuck with the idea while some of them moved away from it.
Alexander Adams
user, that was confirmed a long time ago by someone working on Forerunners. twitter.com/Dr_Abominable/status/466142437128159232 I don't get why so many people want to believe him word for word after he tried to murder you and your friends after going literally insane.
>user, that was confirmed a long time ago by someone working on Forerunners So why are you arguing with me? I haven't changed what I've been saying and you keep responding like you're trying to prove me wrong.

We're talking about the character you absolute dingus.
>Could barely keep up, particularly because I never played Halo 4, Spartan Ops or read the 343-era Halo books
End this fucking meme, 4 and 5 aren't lore reliant to be understood, their writing is just fucking ass.
CE, 2, and 3 never explained shit either, they just expected you to pick up info as you went and figure it out. By contrast 4 has a giant expositional cutscene and terminals which explictly explain and give backstory on shit.
Again, not that 4 or 5 have good stories, they don't, but their problem is bad writing, not EU rleiancy.
>It has been implied in both Halo 1 and 2 that humans are descendants to the Forerunners, and then flat out said in Halo 3 that humans ARE Forerunners
And the IRIS campaign for Halo 3, the Cradle of Life Halo 3 Comic, and the Halo 3 terminals all also outlines Forerunners were NOT humans, way more explictly then anything in CE or 2 saying otherwise or guilty spark's arguably metaphorical statement.
Gabriel Nguyen
Look just post Spartan Linda's fat ass
Parker Ross
Take your meds, ADHD kid.
Levi Hughes
Nowhere, he has ADHD and ignores Bungie employees including Joe Staten himself.
Th campaign was so cringe it was a diversity filled SJW cringefest
Ryan Diaz
That was retconned into Chief having ballsack man’s Forerunner genes, who’s Venom Snake was Guilty Spark’s bff. Which is what caused the confusion

Well number one, former dev already confirmed that humans were regressed Forerunners in their original imagining of the plot, but 343 hints at it on The Library and the final level.
>The installation was built specifically to study and contain the Flood. Their survival as a race was dependent upon it; I am grateful to see that some of them survived to reproduce.
>You can't imagine how exciting this is -- to have a record of all of our lost time! Human history is it? Fascinating.
Humans were meant to be future descendants of the Forerunners before 343/Microsoft retcon'd it.
Ryder Nguyen
it's one of life's great mysteries
Tyler Davis
But also concede -- that same dev said that the plot was whatever they needed it to be and were willing to change it to suit their needs. That's just what the plot was up through Halo 3.
Justin Cox
OH HOW I WILL ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF ITS CATEGORIZATION
Nolan Gray
>What went wrong with Halo?
The original devs lost interest, pushed out Reach, and the license has since languished in the hands of idiots.
Frankly I don't think 2 or 3 are quite as good as CE, and where they're better it's mostly due to the benefit of experience from CE or more money.
Levi Sanders
>It has been implied in both Halo 1 and 2 that humans are descendants to the Forerunners, and then flat out said in Halo 3 that humans ARE Forerunners No. Check the terminals in 3.
Samuel Gray
He also said they changed like they changed the Flood immunity and Halos not killing Flood.

Nice I also have that book lol

CE just needed levels on the scope of Halo 2 but without the higher stakes/overblown cinematic stuff.
Keep the simple premise, but overhaul all of the levels similar to that Silent Cartographer: Evolved mod. Re-tread the same material in new and unique ways.
Jace Davis
You forgot to watch the multiple TV series that bridged the gap between 3 and 4
Julian Sanders
Also been totally consumed with how awesome CE's Keyes level is and I wish I could find a multiplayer game with a similar premise. Anything that involves sneaking and fighting into some place totally overrun by warring factions and part way through OP reinforcements show up to relieve the defending faction and kill everything moving, and you have to break through them and get back out before they can entrench and fuck everything up.
MGS V comes close, but I'm seriously craving something as chaotic and intense as that Keyes level, with tons of replay value. I've resorted to starting my own Half-Life/Sven Co-op level that covers it.

STILL the BEST fps franchise Infinite is gonna be LITTY
Ethan Allen
>Forerunners originally were humans, seeding their dna on earth to re-evolve, away from flood. I guess that's why some humans weren't recognized as Reclaimers in some sources. Those are the ones who hadn't sufficiently "re-evolved". Spartan 2s, being chosen from the genetically most perfect, would definitely be Reclaimers, though.
Jose Johnson
He's completely correct
Asher Cruz
>what went wrong? you care about lorefaggotry

What is Master Chief's connection to the Forerunners?
Cameron Parker
No wonder this fucking janitor messed up the story of the game, and now is messing the entire franchise. Forerunners = Humans, and stop listening to the book fags. twitter.com/franklez/status/1196457934483410947

Halo 4 Cortana is so fucking hot. The hardest part of that game was my cock. Once when I was playing I passed out because there was not enough blood getting to my head, it all went to my dick. Haha.

I agree
Dylan Martin
The Halo 3 terminals and IRIS were objectively good though. The best part of the game even and the first time Bungie wrote something in breathing distance of the quality of Marathon 1-3's writing since they began Halo. The question is what happened to the Frankie who wrote those things and how he got to unironically defending the garbage 343 is spewing out no. It'd be a better story than Halo 5.
Connor Nelson
Nothing went wrong with Halo, it was always shitty.
Anthony Fisher
neck yourself 34shill.
Adam Ross
What went wrong is that they hired a fucking lobotomized retard who could barely write a page about being his enjoyment of being a cuckold and make it sound cohesive. And on top of that the idiots that 343 are just went, "our stories are too deep and smart for you plebs" fuck them.
