Where was it implied that humans were forerunners? Other than what 343 says at the end of 3.
The forruners didn't left any descendants, that would work against the plot because they struggled like hell just to survive the flood.
Both humans and the covenant are just lesser species facing the same threat of extinction Forreruners once did.
343 has a lot of lines hinting at it in Halo 1.

I doubt the last forreruners could even procreate considering the things they had to do to their bodies just to become immune to the flood. The fact they left no descendants tells you exactly that they simply gave up.

Reclaimers were different post Halo 2. Joseph Staten implied that Humans and Forerunners were different post Halo 2.

To be honest it seemed like the writers were split. All in game dialogue and books explicitly implied humans were forerunners, but some of the lore, like from the terminals, showed they were different.

What reveal? There's tons of sources of them changing their minds after Halo 2. They made it up along the way, and it wasn't really brought up until post Halo 2.

And the IRIS campaign for Halo 3, the Cradle of Life Halo 3 Comic, and the Halo 3 terminals all also outlines Forerunners were NOT humans, way more explictly then anything in CE or 2 saying otherwise or guilty spark's arguably metaphorical statement.

Frankly I don't think 2 or 3 are quite as good as CE, and where they're better it's mostly due to the benefit of experience from CE or more money.

Also been totally consumed with how awesome CE's Keyes level is and I wish I could find a multiplayer game with a similar premise.
Anything that involves sneaking and fighting into some place totally overrun by warring factions and part way through OP reinforcements show up to relieve the defending faction and kill everything moving, and you have to break through them and get back out before they can entrench and fuck everything up.
MGS V comes close, but I'm seriously craving something as chaotic and intense as that Keyes level, with tons of replay value. I've resorted to starting my own Half-Life/Sven Co-op level that covers it.

The Halo 3 terminals and IRIS were objectively good though. The best part of the game even and the first time Bungie wrote something in breathing distance of the quality of Marathon 1-3's writing since they began Halo.
