When this shit gets gud?

I tried for 12 hours, did not improve. Some apologist here told me it gets good around chapter 6 but I don't believe that user. It's weeb trash. I liked the first game...sigh. Lazy anime cliches ruin everything good.

It's a super generic JRPG that only gets "good" if you can unlock your inner completionist to grind out the intricacies of the combat mechanics and the shitload of fluff that JRPGs have.

This is one of the most polarising games I've ever come across. Some threads are completely filled with love and while others full of hate.

It's okay if you didn't pick up on it being low quality. Nintendo is usually the last company you'd think of who would let such a thing pass on their systems.

I liked it from the beginning to be perfectly honest, it's a great adventure story. The game really gets going in the second half, and carries on strong all the way to the end.

I got my first redflag the game was going to be shit from the intro cutscene.

You probably don't play many video games if anything that the game showed you didn't alert you of how cliche and uninspiring everything is.

Did we even play the same games? 2 has way more options to counter the enemy's actions while 1 is each character cycles through the same arts every battle for all time.

I'm in the same boat. Spent 60 bucks on this game a year ago and I've tried multiple times to get into it. Farthest I got was the mercenary camp. Its dogshit. Annoying unlikable anime trope characters, dogshit story, fuckton of meaningless micro management. Horrible auto attack bing bing wahoo skill activation combat like in mobile gacha games. Fuck this

XC1 had the vision mechanics and actual buffs/debuffs. XC2 had seals which you're never required to use until the very end of the game maybe. What else does it have?

Yeah I felt the same. From the start I was interested in the world and the characters living it. The amazing music and environment design really helped create a great atmosphere and magic to the game.

I can agree with you here, I am not a fan of the character designs, either. Though I wouldn't really let that stop me from enjoying their presence. Though it's worth criticizing, it's not worth letting it wall you.

At the end of the day, XB2 is easily one of my favorite Xeno titles, though it is also heavily flawed in many ways. It asks a lot of you, testing your patience constantly. If you don't really have it in you to stick it out, just drop it and move on. Really no reason to seethe about it and throw a fit.

Who the fuck are you to talk about what XC1 fans like or don't like. I grew up with Xenogears and I love all of these games because they capture a certain era of science fiction movies and anime. I think 2 is a great game for those exact reasons. It's flawed but it has character.

In terms of combat, sure, but everything else is a preference. Especially music, which I've seen a majority of people prefer 1's over 2. Even then, the combat is watered down because each of the character roles feel like half of what the characters in 1 had. There's no Auras, Buffs, or Debuffing arts. It's strictly attacking, and healing, thus making the characters feel similar as all hell. Blade Arts are technically passives, but they might as well be an after thought.

2 has a better second half than 1. It has a better cast, people jump on Rex vs Shulk, but the rest of the party, the villains, the supporting cast are all way more interesting in 2. I'd argue that even in Rex vs Shulk, Shulk is only an interesting main character up through Prison Island after which he gets labotamized. It has cooler environments and better weather condition changes. The side quests in 2 are better, 1's are actually terrible.

Both games have banger soundtracks.

That aside though, id say XB2 has better character depth, and XB1 has better character interaction. Everything feels down to earth in 1, whereas the cast in 2 don't even really communicate with each other like that. I suppose H2H's exist for this reason, though
