i don't get it. Is this supposed to be fun? I have no idea what the fuck i'm doing.

>combat is throwing shit and retrieving it to throw it again
It's not supposed to be fun.
Can you even kill the lizard things? I stabbed one of them 3 fucking times and he was still standing.
What's even the point of the weapon then? It's so much safer to just run away.
the big green lizards are one of the most spongy enemies in the game. Rocks and other garbage are not meant for inflicting damage, so use the spears and aim for the body. Hitting the head and having it bounce off doesn't do damage.
Is surviving fun?
It's an ecosystem simulator, and slugcat is in the middle of the food chain. The fun is living another day.
sure, but if after 3 spears impaled in his body he's still not dead i don't know why i would ever risk it. i need to find 4 spears, impale him, and not get eaten by the other enemies in the meantime. Bullshit.
>The fun is living another day.
wow, go out and find 3 bats and then quickly return to your cave. So much fun.
Well, the solution to that is simple.
Spear things if they get in your way.
Retrieve spear while they are stunned .
Then either repeat the process or run away.
You don't need to kill anything.
but the spear is lodged inside of them..
>wow, go out and find 3 bats and then quickly return to your cave. So much fun.
You say that now... but further in the game, you'll be fighting tooth and nail to find 3 bats.
>first enemy you encounter
>one of the most spongy enemies
Retarded video game design. Starting enemy progression at the top? What were they thinking?
>3 hours in, and now you have to spent 20 minutes instead of 5 minutes to find bats before you quickly return to your cave!
so much fun
People only like this game because of the artstyle. The gameplay itself is absolute aids.
>20 minutes
Are you playing the same game as me?
You're not still in the tutorial, right?
Speak for yourself, gameplay is stellar.
>run around, lost and confused, while avoiding enemies and trying to catch some bats before retracing your steps and going back to base, and then asking yourself what the fuck any of these symbols mean and what the fuck you're supposed to do, and then repeat
10/10 gameplay
Pull it out.
>>You don't need to kill anything.
But it's fun if you have a clue.
It's obvious you didn't play this game.
You can't spend more then 5 minutes before the cycle ends because of the rain. T
hat's why it's called Rain World.
It's literally the title of the game.
Unironically yes.
Is this supposed to be Alien Isolation in 2D?
>5 minutes
From 7 to 15, though.
dumb dumb. I didn't say i spent 20 minutes looking for bats, i said that if that's what's gonna happen after 3 hours of gameplay then what's the point
>tfw stuck trying to make the fucking antlers lie down so that I can climb them
FUCKING GET DOWN YOU AESTHETIC LOOKING DUMBFUCK RETARDS
Just admit you got filtered. It's ok. This game isn't for everyone.
the game isn't hard. It's fucking boring.
I got filtered
>brainlets can't understand rain world
unironically filtered, you just don't get it 2deep4u
Look at these morons. I bet you both have jobs. Did you both graduate? Do you both do your chores for your mommies and daddies?
>I bet they can't even imagine they are a slugcat
>I bet they can't even feel their little feet pitter patter on the rusty metal walls while they crawl through the tunnels from screen to screen
You are two total retards. You both don't actually have a clue, do you? This game is for US! The NEETS! We get to imagine and to play and games like this are very entertaining and easy for us, because they're made for us! NOT YOU!!!!
>pic related is you
>HARD GAME BAD
It's okay. You continue to leave your reviews and posts wherever you feel like you need to, and I will continue to survive completely free of will.
Woah, calm down schizo
filtered
Damn this is some La-Mulana tier BULLSHIT!
I was checked out a couple of months ago as being completely normal. Let me tell you the story
>I was drunk
>sitting next to the A/C unit to cool off while sobering up
>mommy came out of the bathroom after taking a poop and was staring at me
>I told her to stop and she said "no" to me
>so I fipped her off with both hands and told her to stop holding her head high like a red queen and go get herself killed
>she cried to daddy and he called the cops
>3 cops enter the house and come into my room while I was smoking weed (legal state)
>We chat because I'm cool as fuck and know how shit works
>Police man informs me about the United States Emergency number and how he is, by law, forced to take me into the nearest hospital and have me drug tested
>lol
>comply and get to walk myself to the ambulance with no police assistance
>parents forced to come to the hospital and take me home
>also forced into family counseling
>dad had to pay the equivalent of a college tuition for the ambulance, drug testing, and police officer work
>if you have more karma than is required, you have to die to progress
>you have to die
>to progress
Games that do this should feel bad about themselves.
>you have to die
>to progress
You don't, it's literally numbers and > operator.
I was in that room when i had full karma, and the gates were still locked. Explain that then.
On a related note you can find a gun laying around in any area. Spawn rate is 0.0001%
Well, gates don't work twice during one cycle, maybe it's that.
>You don't
?
"You don't have to die to pass gates, because gates don't require lowering your carma."
What is going on in this thread?
>yfw you discover you can become a friend with a lizard
>hunger distills aggro rating just like a real carnivorous lizard
pull the spear out of his twitching body and stab that motherfucker again. It's not that hard and you don't need 6 spears for it
I remember entering that dark area when I last played, it sucked
Also someone killed my robot thing
>Also someone killed my robot thing
It respawns.
Nani?!
I havent seen it in ages
>Is this supposed to be fun?
No
It doesn't like some areas.
I want slugcat to pole dance for me.
It is very satisfying and fun to play once you get a bit better, but there are sections where you'll be frustrated with enemy spawns, lizards camping the exits and other rng bullshit. The pay off is to experience brilliant world-building, deep mechanics based on player skill, amazing art direction and good level design.
There are some advanced controls that will make killing lizards much easier. You can backflip and throw spears down by running in a direction and then quickly going the opposite direction and jumping at the same time.
You can also press down while running to do a belly-slide, and then quickly pressing attack (or jump?) to jump forward with the spear outstretched. By doing this you hit the lizard very hard, when thrown spears would just bounce off the head.
t. pole mimic
pick up one of the smoke eggs and drop it (not throw) on the ground and the rabbit will come and sit down to eat.
literally no way to get that information without reading the wiki.
bad game design.
It's not necessary information, so it's not a big deal.
Nobody cares
Wish granted.
I played through the entire game without them so it isn't really an issue, subsequent playthroughs have been a lot more fun though, as you can start kiting and fighting your way through enemies a bit easier.
When crawling in pipes and going past a bend you can jump while both your feet are braced against a surface to propel slugcat fast.
cute and funny drawing!
Absolutely wrong, my first playthrough was completely blind and I'm glad I did. You'll discover most hidden mechanics in the game by pure intuition and observation sooner or later.
>exploring while still trying to survive isn't fun
>fighting big fuck you monsters with only your wits and a spear isn't thrilling
>discovering how the game world works isn't exciting
get good or at least get better taste, faggot
this is the only bit I agree with, it feels like the designer had a hard time implementing a tutorial and the overseers "hints" pop up randomly. So far he has only told me how to jump.
>pressing shift while holding down drops an item
>double tapping shift swaps held items in hands
>you can eat small objects like rocks or bolts and hack them up later by holding shift down
>you can skid by changing directions quickly
>jumping during a skid results in a flip
>yfw memory crypts
Man I wanna fuck slugcat
you're dripping with cope
>pressing shift while holding down drops an item
>double tapping shift swaps held items in hands
And that info appears on the pause screen if you dont mess with controls though.
that isn't how karma works at all
you filtered yourself by being stupid
on the esc screen?
>this is the only slugcat r34 I can find
When i say karma i'm talking about the symbols that you get when you rest. Maybe it's called something else but how tf am i supposed to know what things are called in a game without text
>mfw memory crypts
>he didn't experiment with the controls
>he doesn't experiment with every new thing he finds
>he didn't blow himself up with the explosive plant
you have to go back
take your meds, lard ass
it's called karma, and the symbol attatched to doors is the minimum required karma. You can still pass if you have a symbol higher than the one on the door.
Good advice, just try eating, capturing and testing all the stuff you find, including new creatures
>on the esc screen?
Yeah.
you aren't looking hard enough
Alright, so what's up with this game exactly?
I missed when it was on sale for -80% and now I kind of regret it.
Do you just survive or do you also evolve? Can you get to the top of the food chain and fuck everyone up?
being able to eat small objects is pretty easy to learn. You get immediate visual feedback if you hold down the eat button when you're holding a small object.
>or do you also evolve
As character — no, but you can GIT GUT and wreck someone's shit. Some shit still will be too much to handle, though, so it's not the top of the food chain, but various degrees of middle.
I just started this game 2 hours ago and now I'm stuck in a dark ass sewer and i can't see shit.
Did i go the wrong way?
I's a game of exploring, you just progress through the map and explore until you find someone that can help you.
>Can you get to the top of the food chain and fuck everyone up?
There are no upgrades, no evolve, no new abilities. It is just you, slugcat and skill.
There's also a hard mode where you play red slugcat, who has more dangerous enemies spawning, but is much better in combat. When you get good with red slugcat you can kill almost everything in the game, but if you make a mistake or two you get eaten.
you explore a huge post-human world while surviving monsters, hunger, and deadly, cyclic rainstorms.
you will always be in the lower middle of the food chain, but if you get good you can clown on everyone else in the game. most enemies can insta kill you though, so you'll be running from fights alot, at least early on
