What the fuck kind of logo is this?
What the fuck kind of logo is this?
an american one
an iconic one
You mean to tell me this is not a photo but a fucking fully rendered model?
only in HL:A
Wtf that's me??
>open your eyes
>open your mind
>proud like a god don't pretend to be blind
wow you thought they shoved a valve into someone's neck lol u dummy
ive always thought the guy on the left was gordon freeman
I thought that was a fat tyler1 for a sec
Photoshop u nig
i thought it was a picture, why did they make it a fat hispanic then?
cause we dont have enough representation in logos.
The first time this nigga started to turn I freaked the fuck out.
Hey Elliot!
>2010
That logo has been at least since 2007, they changed it around the time of the orange box.
bruh look at this dude
he's got gamer head. do you?
gamer head is fucking gay dude
everyone knows only guys are gamers
accurate representation of average american
If I'm remembering correctly, when they made the version of the logo with the bald headed guy turning his head they couldn't figure out who the original actor was, so they made a 3D model that was animated instead. It's possible this is the 3D model they used.
can we see the full size? or is it just a bust
this , they created this model for alyx intro , you can clearly see it as they didnt even try to hide it was a 3d model
also as you can see he still turn but really slowly now ,dont know if that make it better or worse
>forgot to post link
youtube.com
lol what the fuck that looks like shit
like very amateur
It works in VR, that subtle turn fucks with you.
>fades out as its turning its head towards the viewer
I like that they came up with an actual VR logo, instead of just dangling a flat logo in front of you.
What happens if we turn valve guy's valve?
That's Kelly Bailey, composer of hl1, hl2, episodes and portal. He was one of the models for Gordon (Gordon is a collective model made from various devs)
Both logos has been around since HL1.
Yikes
>implying you'd get close enough to him alive
they added the turn when Portal 2 came out
>when he turned around in Episode 2
It would be extremely painful
You're a big guy
I'm glad Valve changed the Valve Guy to match the changing racial demographics of the US
I don't have a VR setup or HL Alyx but god damn imagine that.
The Valve-headed guy is rendered as a massive 3D model right in front of you.
I'd imagine that the sense of scale that VR offers would freak you the fuck out when you see a giant with a valve in his head slowly turning around to ominous music.
Go back to Yas Forums you mongoloid
for you
>Both logos has been around since HL1.
no the white guy was their logo since the start,
the black guy came around orange box era
What if it wasn't sarcasm?
In that case, bless that user for being progressive in the face of meaningless ridicule. Fuck everyone else who isn't.
You should reconsider being so sure when you don't know what you're talking about.

See Orange Box was when they switched to it for the games, but the logo had been in use on other platforms for ages.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH
And, why would I want them?
the way back machine is confused like you, they have never used the black guy logo before 2006, I've played their games since 1998 so yeah I'm sure
It doesn't get confused. They captured both logos at the same time. One of Kelly Bailey, composer, and another one of a random guy in the streets.
Reminds me of this youtube.com
>Dr. Freeman, I'm Black Mesa!
>random guy in the streets
Nonsense, the white guy is an actual model they hired, no idea who the black guy is but It's not Kelly Bailey.
>Valve's Ray Ueno stated he worked with Gabe Newell and their colleagues to develop the "guy in the logo" when they decided to call the company "Valve" around 1995-1996, and needed to develop the visual brand vocabulary to go along with it.
Back then, the casting agencies Valve was using to find models for the Valve Guy only proposed attractive models, while they were searching for "heavy-set", "normal" ones. They then asked their agencies to walk the streets of Seattle and find more interesting people. In Seattle's Broadway district, they took many Polaroids of the types of people Valve was looking for and brought the shots back to them. The team then selected a bald, heavy-built man and a thin man with a goatee from the batches of "off-the-street" Polaroids.[1]
The two comprised the "Open your mind. Open your eyes." concept for Valve's initial brand, respectively for the heavily-built and goatee men.
For some reason I thought for almost 20 years it was Kelly. My bad. But they still did both shots in the 90s.
truly kino
>berney waiting for hecu soldiers to bring him gordon so he can airlift him to jail for failing to show his passport
You mean Portal 2.
it was actually Randy Pitchford, the man himself, who came up with the name Valve in a bet.
man, I love kelly bailey, I was reading this thread thinking how did I not know it was him in the pic
the little rap was gay.
Works better in VR as well when you hear the theme song bouncing around the environment relative to your current head position.
if i can recall, they took photos of random people on the street or someshit.
what happens if you turn the valve
they did, they also used pics of a random street hobo as a reference for Eli
steam goes off and he fully turns to face you
How soulless, it appears that the talentless hacks at Valve are trying to imitate the people who aren't there anymore while having the hubris to think they can improve upon their work.
