Final Fantasy VII remake is supposed to be an episodic, multi-part event

>Final Fantasy VII remake is supposed to be an episodic, multi-part event
>First thing they do is piss off the fans by revealing that it's not going to be a remake at all, but some stupid new bullshit out of Namura's ass
>they expect the fans to keep investing this series after being sold a massive catfish

Congrats Square, you had a surefire hit and somehow still managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Looks like the brain tissue transplant from Lucasfilm's employees was successful.

We will never see Part 3.

It's over for Final Fagtasy

What makes you think there would ever be apart 3? It's probably a 2 part series. They changed the story precisely to shorten it. It would be financially impossible to adapt the entirety of FF7 into modern day standarts.

the amount of seethe over not being a 1:1 remake is hilarious

XIII-3 exists. They are going to keep shitting down fans' throats until they never ask for another remake ever again.

This. Funny that gaming has been using "remake" wrong all these years but it's suddenly a problem when it's finally done correctly.

I mean, hypothetically Square could respond to the backlash with story patches like they did with FFXV, but I think Namura is going to be too much of a primadonna to let Square retcon his changes. Then again, that's how I expect things to go based largely on the American entertainment industry, and Japan is a bit more unpredictable. If they patched out the time ghost shit and replaced it with a few alternate cutscenes, then yeah, maybe it's not too late, but that is an extreme longshot.

Namura has never backed down on making his stories way too complicated and contrived in the past. If Square does try to course correct with Volume 2 it's possible that Namura will just walk away or move to a different game (like FFXVI) but again, that is operating under the assumption that Square is even worried about the direction they've chosen for this project.

If they fix it, I could see them getting all three episodes out, but I think the more likely scenario is that the first game sells great, Square takes this as validation, they double down hard on time travel / meta bullshit in volume 2, which no-one will buy, and then part 3 gets canceled. It's not the way I want this to end but it's what Square deserves if they let it happen.

They could have done it in one part. Just cut the fluff and FMV. Stick to the script and The game doesnt need the BEST graphics but still do a good job.

Also Multi plat to make the most money back

>NOOOOOO I DON'T WANT TO GO TO THE BEACH
>PLEASE DON'T MAKE ME GET A TAN NOOOOOOO
