Rumour: Resident Evil 8 ‘will release in 2021 with serious series departures’
>Like 2017’s Resident Evil 7, the 2021 game will feature a first-person perspective and a return for the previous game’s protagonist, Ethan Winters. >However, the game will feature many narrative and mechanical departures for the series, including hallucination and insanity segments, as well as enemies based on mythical creatures such as Werewolves. >As revealed by Dusk Golem, the game was originally intended to be a third entry in Resident Evil’s spin-off series Revelations. However, following positive feedback from Capcom’s testing department it was decided that the game would be transitioned into a mainline instalment.
It could be change. It also rumoured Chris again but if that were true it will be just RE7 2.0 with both him and Ethan. Maybe they will change at least one.

>game will feature a first-person perspective and a return for the previous game’s protagonist, Ethan Winters
Already out
Charles Davis
Why don't they just build upon the excellent foundation of REmake 2 instead of going back to VII?
>Why don't they just build upon the excellent foundation of REmake 2 Like they did with RE3? Lmao
Jaxon King
REmake 3 was a product of B-team.
Levi Lee
RE8 is another Leon wipes out a minority group game. Ada will appear, Sherry will appear, Chris will appear
Ryder Thompson
>and a return for the previous game's protagonist Ethan Winters No fucking way, I guarantee you they will not be bringing Ethan Winters back as a playable character.
Gavin Jackson
7 was a good game and I'm sure they're going to still be creating remakes since it isn't hard to make games if you have an engine with plenty of assets already and a story/foundation to go off of.
Michael Lopez
Why not?
Cameron Baker
The games are too convoluted and beyond comprehension. Break free and just make a new series. Repeat Devil May Cry, don't just call it RE4.
Grayson Bailey
i didnt like 7, i think it was overrated bc it filled a PT shaped hole at the time. It doesn't hold up, and if you replayed it you'd see how bad it really is.
Hudson Hall
He's not interesting enough. He's a textbook protagonist. I'm not complaining about RE7 though, don't get me wrong. In a first-person story game, I think it's really important to leave the main character more vague so you can enter into their shoes a bit more. Also, give me a good reason Ethan would choose to go back into a scary situation or coincidentally forced into another scary situation? It's bad writing no matter how they would introduce him again. I wouldn't mind as a side character or something, but definitely not as main character again.
James Allen
RTS lets go
Jackson Martin
>serious series departures’ A first person perspective? There have been like 6 Resident Evil games in first person at this point.
Christopher Thomas
Fuck off Dusk. Noone believes your bullshit
Carter Thompson
...and that was a good game. The only thing wrong with it was that it was really short.
Robert Phillips
This
Cameron Reyes
FPS horror games > TPS horror games. The biggest weakness of the two remakes is their lame consolebabby camera.
Wyatt Bailey
Witches and werewolves and stuff.
Ayden Gray
>serious series departures >here's a list of stuff that's been done before
Parker White
Would anyone honestly think that's a big departure? If it was magic, that might make people scratch their noses though and not fuckin' corona zombie witches & undead bio-werewolves.
Joshua Russell
The game apparently has heavy occult themes. So yea, it probably has magic. But RE7 was already pushing it. For example, how did young Evie appear on a VHS tape?
Anthony Bailey
If they return to continuing 7's style, I really don't mind that. You can do a lot with the idea that your character's brain has a viral infection that is causing them to see and be hurt by things that aren't there, probably mix some fake hallucinations too to catch you off guard. But if they do it, they gotta improve the game handling. Ethan's running pace of a brisk walk and his inexperience with firearms were justified by 7's VR design origins, but not this fucking time. Even Half-Life Alyx moved faster than RE7, and that's without teleports.
Gavin Wright
I'm excited about the idea but they're gonna need an A+ villain to replace Jack Baker
>Hallucinations Oh, so it's RE 3.5 all over again?
David Stewart
The first person mod has received some improvements, and works with RE3 Remake now. github.com/praydog/RE2-Mod-Framework It's kinda bizarre how RE3 Remake opens with a first person section, and then goes third person. I'm convinced that Capcom are fully aware that first person is way scarier and immersive, but they're wary of alienating the memberberries fans likely to build hype for remakes. So they make the new RE games while making the nostalgiafests third person.
Benjamin Barnes
Just make it a fucking toggle. The want to control the way you enjoy the game and that is their biggest problem.
Ryder Perez
2 and 3 remakes are ass, go back to RE6.
Henry Bennett
Funny to see seething from both classic RE fags and action RE fags over the first person camera I'll be happy with more of 7 as long as they fix some of its problems(enemy variety, unskippable cutscenes, the last 3rd of the game)
Adam Sullivan
Sounds kino.
Easton Turner
Not the worst thing in the world, but still a shame. While there's nothing wrong with exploring new avenues, seems like a bit too divergent from what makes RE distinct. If it was like VII-2, that would be more acceptable
Leo Gomez
>RE3R >good
Nathan Richardson
He wont choose,he will be dragged again. Calling it this whole shtick of Werewolves,Zombie knights and a witch stalker?oblviously a E-00 type creature that likes fairy tales.
William Evans
why drag him back in though? he's just a nobody, especially when you consider the fact that Mia was actually an agent
Dominic Smith
>He's not interesting enough. He's a textbook protagonist.
Nobody is interesting in Resident Evil, they just have recognizable designs. Just try explaining their personalities, they're all paper thin.
Henry Cruz
God First Person is so much fucking better for games with lots of corridors and smaller spaces.
It's so annoying having characters take up a large chunk of the screen in REmake2.
Jayden Scott
>Mia was actually an agent This is a good anought hook for hin show up again...Mia is the closest link to the new villains. They can some silly cliches like he actually enters to blue umbrella,or Mia screw up again and he have to save her again. The connections wants hin because he survived Eveline...who know at this point he is the only one that can cover´´the civilian in a spooky situation``
Isaiah Diaz
It should be first person with Cutscenes in Third Person.Ethan would probably get more interesting if we actually see his face and reactions
Jack Ramirez
Yay, another overly scripted Resident Evil game that was designed around attracting streamers. RE 7 was fucking shit. It was generic, run of the mill, and wasn't even scary. If I wanted to play Texas Chainsaw Massacre VR edition, I'd probably be a JewTuber.
Jack Wright
REmake3 is filled with way more retarded scripted bullshit then RE7 though.
Benjamin Brown
7 was good but didn't feel like a resident evil at all... I went through the game forgetting it was one until chris appeared, and i had to wait to hear his name to recognise him...
Lucas Myers
rumors have been saying Rebecca will be the protagonist
