So I just learned of all this nonsense. Is it really true they retconned the whole story? I was looking forward to FF7R, but now im not even sure I want it anymore. I liked the demo. Why couldnt they just do that but with the plot of the original game? Makes absolutely no sense. Im kinda pissed off. So whats this new plot about now?

It's both, FF7R derails the original story just before leaving Midgar. The original FF7's events are treated as canonical, the Whispers are trying to keep things on the canon order-of-events and Red XIII says unambiguously that the game will proceed normally if they lose to the Whispers.

We dunno what the new plot is, past Disc 1 it's basically a blank slate, though some bits like Cloud learning he wasn't a SOLDIER have either come earlier or came dangerously close to coming earlier to give the ghosts a reason to show up. The chase for Sephiroth is still on because he wants to change the timeline in some way and he knows more about the plot-ghosts than Cloud and co. do.

Oh boy its almost one year since that day...no, not the release of FFVII remake, but something else. Something sinister and sad, related to this game...Australia did take a hard one that day.

This game, man. It recieved universal acclaim. GOTY 2020, there was no contest. Gameplay, music, story, you name it.

That person just couldnt accept it. FFVII was a complete success. Aerith vs Tifa general daily discussion, broken materia/skills/weapons builds threads and speculation for part 2, a lot of attention. But nothing for XV after all this years.
Sometimes you could see a humble thread about XV, but every time the thread just got shat on a little more. Poor Barry, he couldnt...he just couldnt...*sniff*

Thats why he decided to...*sniff*...end it all. After getting range banned on Yas Forums for incessant "FFVII remake is shit and worse than XV" spam, his psychotic nature went afloat. He just couldnt accept it.
That day, barry just took an assault rifle and...*sniff* decided to murder whoever crossed his way...it was horrible. A lot of innocent people got killed. Barry managed to evade the cops and went missing after the massacre. Later he was found dead in his house, next to a ps4 and a TV, both plugged in of course. The TV showed XV ending. The ps4 controller had the attack and dodge button taped. Apparently the game was finished way after his death, holding the dodge and attack button. Hehe.
I will play FFVII remake part 1 once again on my PC. This time with nostalgia, but not for FF7, but for that person. Maybe...maybe Barry was just misunderstood, he just needed help. He was a sick man after all...

Sephiroth knows all the events of FF7 and is unreasonably powerful for this point in the game. He's busy trying to create a timeline where he wins but the planet has time travelling ghosts that prevent anomalies from fucking up critical events in the story. They're powerful enough to negate something like Sephiroth casting Meteor early, so instead he has to manipulate Cloud into setting up the ideal timeline for him.

The only unknown left is knowing if there are two Sephiroths or if future Sephiroth sent his soul back to the past and merged the two, which explains him leaving the Northern Crater early and having AC Sephiroth abilities and knowledge.

It's basically like that shitty Star Trek movie. It follows the same idea of the original, but underneath is a meta-narrative about altering the future that comes to the forefront during the raid on Shinra HQ and takes the game fully off the rails.

This is easily top 5 most anticipated games of all time, it didn't need bullshit for word of mouth advertisement.

Future Seph knows he loses so he gains access to the End of Creation which is like where time ends or whatever. There he shattered the time lines and then is proceeding to screw with the world so that he wins. It's so stupidly meta. This is a fucking weird ass sequel too.

Time travel is really awful and should never be added to a series unless it's what you start with. Once you go time travel it's always going to be a time travle series.

In FF7 remake episode 1, there are Harry Potter looking dementors called whispers. They literally undo/block cutscenes to not contradict original FF7 plot numerous times. I do mean literally and multiple times BTW, most famous are interrupting Cloud from ISIS style executing people like Reno and Reunion shmucks, preventing Hojo from telling Cloud the truth, hilariously killing Jessie via a bomb ghost prank, and accidentally showing everyone in Cloud's party at Shinra HQ the entire ending sequence of OG FF7 which Nanaki immediately says that's a very bad future. Also it is implied Aerith is in on the time travel but nothing concrete, she also shares this with Nanaki.

They're now affectionately called time ghosts, time jannies, history niggas, changebad ghosts. They're also in the game as a standin for fans who want remake to be 1:1 to the PS1 original as an obvious meta commentary from the writers. Because of Time Ghosts FF7R Episode 2 and onward can go off rails if Cloud and Avalanche kill them; which is what future Sephiroth wants. Also Future Advent Childen Sephiroth and Present day Sephiroth are different people existing at the same time in the remake timeline; Zack is heavily implied to have avoided death in one other timeline.

In between BBS and KH1. Cloud will grow a demon wing in the final boss fight and use it to chase Sephiroth between worlds after Sephrioth's Meteor breaks the world barrier.

Please tell me this isn't really part of the game.

Then you have to believe that the ghosts are still alive and will be around to make sure Part 2 follows the original story.
