So did the combat team and enemy design team actually talk this time around or is it like Nioh 1 where you cant do most of the combat mechanics because bosses have hyper armor and attack every 2 seconds

Nowhere near the point where I can start doing anything of the sort but I like my build and, more importantly, I'm not as sick of checking on it every couple minutes as I thought I would be.
Lots of health gain on enemy deaths and some good ninjutsu buffs and lots of fire resistance on three or four different pieces of armor.
I hope I can get to the requisite amount of autism it'll take to enjoy this stuff. I know the first game started to grind my patience into the dirt. I basically didn't use a single combat skill throughout my entire run in that one but I'm getting right comfortable in the menus in this one just fine.

I haven't done anything fancy yet. Just put poison on Piercing Rain and extra Ki damage on my "fuck your ki" moves. All the others feel like too much ki cost for too little benefit.

genmei set is just simply better. its defense down is way more potent than all of golden gourd's +atk combined and its other passives are much more useful. plus, it has less pieces so its less gay to try to get a set together.

Nioh 1 had a much much better story and I can't believe they dropped the ball on this for Nioh 2.
The gameplay's a whole lot better, but the missing good story really stinks up the game. I hope the DLCs fix that

Bonuses from shibata's set aren't worth using, just use a mix of Tatenashi + whatever else gives good bonuses
It's like this for a lot of weapons
Personally I use 3 piece tatenashi 2 piece genryu with yasakani
a for hatchets I use Zenki and goki with Corruption on the high stance flurry skill to easily proc confuse

If there's one thing I miss from Nioh 2, its the difficulty. Nioh 1 had so many times that pushed my shit in, and the endgame submissions were bullshit and forced me to use the living weapon cheese like 90% of people until the nerf
This one I only had trouble with Shibata and Toshii, and even then I didn't feel like cheesing them despite having twice as much cheese tactics than Nioh 1. They need to fix this and add content
