Headcanon: The Super Crown is a manufactured hormone that makes female toads mature faster when worn on their caps. Peach herself is a toad with webbed fungus that looks like hair.
Dry Bowser may or may not be Blue Bowser from SMB2JP. Bowser called the former a close family friend in one of the 3DS games.

Mario's "Super" form got retconned into being his normal form sometime in the Gamecube era.
This was properly solidified in canon in the intro of NSMB where Mario is seen being shrunk by Bowser Jr.
Now Small Mario is a different form when he takes damage. Thus the Super Mushroom no longer has growth powers, it's just a health item like in the RPGs.
However, some side series appearances of the mushroom, like in Smash, still use the old size growing powers, making it more akin to the Mega Mushroom, which was also introduced in NSMB possibly as a reference to the old canon.

Feel like Super Mario always was the normal, popular form, looking at Super Mario Bros, SMB3 and SMW sprites it's quite obvious that it was somehow always intended to be that way and that the Mario form only exists as a gameplay mechanic. Kinda like Samus is always in her Varia in promotional/official lore but for gameplay sake her true Power Suit is the yellow one with flat shoulder pads.

Yes. Yoster Island is associated with Yoshi the character and appears in Mario RPG and M&L2 as well. Yoshi Star Galaxy in SMG2 is actually Yostar Galaxy in Japan, as well.
Yoshi Island in contrast first appears in SMW2 and is associated with Yoshis in general, although more places associated with Yoshis in general have appeared since then (like Lavalava Island in PM64).

Like many real fungi, Toads don't have a biological sex. They are sexless entities that take on gendered roles. So the Super Crown working on Toadette is something unique to Toadette, since a Toad being female is a visual construct.
