ITT: we pretend to be anti-valve shills
I'll start
Half-Life 2 wasn't innovative or good at all. Those 39 game of the year awards were bought by Gabe Shekelstein and his Microsoft millions...

god the term "shills" got old so fast
Same as "Nu"
That's just regular Yas Forums
this but unironically, Valve have done more damage than good for the industry.
>pretend
Half Life 2 was never good and you know it.
Half life 1 was good but 2 is what started the cancer of the industry
Half-Life 2 is shit for real tho
>All Half-Life is shit for real tho
FTFY
>HLA
God, this game sucked so bad. The forced teleporting and lack of arms constantly took me out of the game. The gunplay felt like shit even on the best Wii controllers & phone VR setup money could buy. Nothing but a 2 hour on-rails shooting gallery.
this but unironically, Half Life 2 carries exactly none of the heavy-duty legacies that the stellar Half Life 1 passed down, and is a shitty nonsensical fanfic-tier moviegame for ADHD kids who didn't play the first one but remembered their big brother showing them a picture of gordon freeman with a crowbar on the front page of some PC gaming magazine.
That's the spirit!
valveshill mad
poorfags mad cuz they didn't get to play new HL game
Not once have I heard Yas Forums mention a single better FPS when shitting on half life
DISPROVE HIM HLNIGGERS
powerslave on the sega saturn
FPS is a shit genre that's why
Half life games are just tech demos. Portal is where is at.
>generic soldiers with guns
Wow, Half Life looks amazing...
what genre of games do you play?
Almost all of them beside FPS and racing games
Video games are shit in general
>beside FPS and racing games
2 genres that require the most skill to play well
fuck off boomer
this is true, it's a low IQ genre.
It takes skill to suck cocks, I still won't do it, unlike you apparently
Honestly it ain't that good. Its decent.
The physics in it was innovative for the time and the gravity gun was neat.
Level design was a mix of pretty good to sewer level tier and not just for the sewer levels in it.
Enemies were bland and repetitive with no real mysterious element like there was in the original HL.
The weapons as well are mostly a let down after seeing such fun weapons in HL1 back in the age where exotic weapons were the go to in fps games.
6/10
>It takes skill to suck cocks,
You just take it up your mouth, that requires no skill whatsover which should be right up your alley
fuck off already to your easy boomer games where you can watch yourself suck dick in 3rd person with xray on
>You just take it up your mouth, that requires no skill whatsover
Do you want to know how I know you never had a girlfriend?
REMINDER
HALF LIFE WAS NEVER GOOD
This is how someone who has never had their dick sucked thinks. There absolutely is such thing as good head and bad head. What a fucking virgin
Never said you need to be good at sucking dick. I knew you are illiterate when you didn't even manage to stay on topic when I asked for a better game than HL in ITS GENRE. But now you made it obvious
Do you want to know why I know you need someone to spoon feed you an idea for a good comeback?
Half Life did nothing but make cinematic cancer mainstream in video games.
Shit franchise.
What drove people to call it revolutionary was the physics and the lighting. You had to be there to understand what it did. Video games absolutely sucked back then because console gaming was about to lose to pc with the expiration of ps2 and xbox. I won’t even mention gamecube because that thing was a fucking failure in its own right.
Hl1 is nu-fun
>autist quoting himself multiple times
>banned
kek
>n**gaf
>Never said you need to be good at sucking dick
Yeah and you don't need to be good at playing FPS to enjoy, in fact Half-Life 2 is one of the easiest one
And you're the one being off topic
>Not once have I heard Yas Forums mention a single better FPS when shitting on half life
Since when do you need to constantly compare things you don't like with things you like to make a point?
But since you want to know, Half-Life 1 is way better than 2, no need to even go outside of the series to find better.
>Half-Life 2 is one of the easiest
this is true
>anti-valve shills
Who's paying us?
EGS
Valve is sinister.
>Half-Life 2 wasn't innovative or good at all.
It was technically innovative. The facial animation and physics systems were the best implemented into a video game at that point. So good that they still hold up 15 years later.
I do, however, agree that it wasn't a good game. Too many loading zones, too many stupid vehicle sections, not enough enemy variety, not enough weapon variety, too many areas locking the player in a room while NPC's talk.
>The facial animation and physics systems were the best implemented into a video game at that point
precanned animations and teeter totter puzzles aren't innovative.
F.E.A.R. and DOOM are both better than Half-Life, off the top of my head, and Alyx is easily the worst shooter in the Half-Life series, but if you like movies it's alright
most fun way to play HL2 is on hard difficulty without crosshair
Most fun way is to not play it at all
was so hype when the first gameplay trailers were released, was one of the greatest moments in gaming when it released you shoulda been there
I was, Halo 2 was better in every way
FarCry 1 was a far more impressive game than HL2 and deserves to be held at a higher level of prestige than what people have given HL2
>people think this is a good game
Jesus, normies are retarded
nah less interactivity with the environment, hl2 was way more exciting though Halo 2 was a more robust fps experience
>Doom
>Far Cry
>Halo
>Fear
HL1 and it's mods are better
picking up cans wasn't conducive to good game play and just added bloat to a game that was already light mechanically to begin with. Halo 2 was a better game. HL2 was a better tech demo.
why have these dumb threads. who cares, the game is good, i'll be getting my headset soon and I'm looking forward to it. we don't have these dumb discussions on reddit, why do we here?
not really wants the trigen came into the game it got a bit convoluted though the early game was amazing, able to hide in bushes, sprites stayed on enemies, hectic firefights, so fun
to each their own but hl2 was amazing as a whole, the physics had never been seen to that extent and they did the most they could with the gimmick. Great atmosphere, music, shooting, environments, story, enemies. As far as PC games go it was one of the greatest experiences during that time, Half-Life but better in every way, and that was a very good thing.
see
>Half-life 2
>great shooting
lol
Yea it's a bit on rails but it made sense, it was claustrophobic because you're in an underground facility trying to escape. It was great because the environments were so distinct, no problem that every zone was exhaustively playtested that made it a fun tight experience despite being on-rails.
>HL sucked dude
I still play it, great game. The weapon design is so good, each one is still viable in certain situations and they're all fun to use. They did the "dangerous/damaged military/scientific base" atmosphere so good and each expansion was great especially OpFor. There's no way make me think any other way about hl, it's a game I love.
>Great atmosphere
no
>music
recycled music and generic house music with droning dark beats isn't good music man
>shooting
god no, some of the worst ever
>environments
I can only see so many generic cubed off brushes before I tire of them. Doom 3 might be a shit game but it came out earlier and did the environments a lot better
>story
babbys first dystopia
>enemies
god no
HL2 wasn't good and the hype is what people remember it for because the game sure sucked.
yup, great weapon bloom and run and gun
You haven't played many FPS games?
play Thief and tell me HL is good again
MUH LINEAR CORRIDORS WITH NO EXPLORATION
Bailey made great music, moreso in hl1. The atmosphere was good, the first environment set the tone for the rest of the game though the constant apartment blocks got old, combine architecture jutting out of the landscape was interesting. Laidlaw had great lore, The combine were a great enemy though there wasn't that much variation with the other enemies, hl1 did a better job.
I've played every fps game, hl2 is a good run and gun quake-like especially hl1 though
what are some games that have done good for the gaming industry?
Remember this is one single autist in a crusade to soothe his autism against half life
You can recognize him because:
>he doesnt reply to posters, he posts his opinions like the soijaks do, by being a coward
>will post screenshots like Barneyfag
>parrots opinion from some mentally ill youtuber called DWTerminator (highly likely that guy is the same spammer)
>constantly calls the game "Linear Life"
>frequently samefags trying to give validity to his regurgitated claims
>he has been doing this for years
I play thief gold quite a bit actually, the movement is the best part how you can catch ledges and pull yourself up and all the movement speeds. Thief 1 level design was far better than 2 but comparing it to Half Life is kind of pointless
Thief and Half Life (also Thief 2 and Half Life 2) are all 9 to 10/10.
Different games have different selling points. Not all games need exploration (Thief isn't even that great at that, strange choice).
I knew the contrarian hate on Yas Forums for the series would not be contained to 2 for long and the shitposting would soon move to HL1 as well.
>Thief 1 level design was far better than 2
Ahem. Bonehoard, *cough, cough* Lost City, hum Haunted Cathedral.
Thief 1 is excellent but the level design is completely at odd with the control scheme in many levels, which is really the game's only flaw. The series was still finding an identity. It's obvious the devs didn't know whether they wanted a pure stealth game or dungeon crawling segments. Thief 2 went all in on the sneak and blackjack level design.
What are the selling points of half-life 2?
