I was hesitant to play this for awhile because of the Yas Forums shitflinging but I finally gave it a chance and played through the whole thing in one sitting a couple days ago. God damn I should have played this earlier, it's a fucking GOAT contender for Christ's sake. The story, the characters, the setting, everything is fucking perfect. Share your opinions Yas Forums don't hold back.
My only criticism is that it's too short.
It ends where it feels like act 2 should start.
I was thinking of going back and playing a crazy super-cop and not save-scrub.

You mean like quicksaving before stat-checks? I felt like the game does a good job of discouraging that. Even failing a check doesn't necessarily mean you 'fail' and it can produce a more interesting outcome. It helps that you can retry a lot of checks as well.

I was hungry for more at the end, but I think it was a good spot for it. All the loose ends got tied up, no? I don't know if I missed anything but I felt like I was going through a sidequest drought after I got across the water to the fishing village, like I finished most of the sidequests in day 1 and 2 and I was just tying up miscellaneous crap in day 3. Granted, I abused the fact that time stops at 2 am to do a lot of quests. Was it like that for anyone else?

It would've actually been good if it wasn't so short. It's literally one tiny map and the main mystery is over by the fourth day. There were plenty of opportunities to expand on the lore like The Pale and the hole in reality at the church and the other worlds that existed out there, but the game just stops short of truly developing and just railroads you into a quick resolution and a phony ceremony of characters describing the things you did throughout the game a-la Prey. The choices you make don't really matter outside of this point where you get judged. The story progresses as it does and you simply get locked out of learning some lore about the characters if you don't make the right choices.
It's a game with just a hint of greatness and a facade of intricacy/complexity. It's an idea being memed as a finished product.

It's kind of in an RPG gray area, but isometric crpg is probably the most fitting term. There's no combat, the gameplay is almost entirely focused on dialogue stat-checks. Age of Decadence is very similar, if you've ever played that.

I've been enjoying it so much that I don't want to finish it, because I know there's nothing else quite like it on the horizon.
I wanted to do another different type of playthough, but I couldn't bear to hurt Kim, and looking at the achievements, it seems most people couldn't either. If you do another playthrough, do some things in a different order. I restarted midway into the first day cause I realized I didn't stat myself right for what I wanted to do, and I didn't get around to even looking at the corpse on the first day, to which Kim issues a stern but supportive rebuke. Very funny, didn't expect to get chastised there. That's probably the greatest strength of the game, the amount of lines for extremely niche situations.

Like this guy says, it's a lot like Planescape without the completely unnecessary dull combat. Combat would add nothing to the game, it stands on its own merit. The strength of the game is the writing, if you don't like reading you won't like this game. Trust me, the stakes are there in dialogue and combat is completely unnecessary. Being a murderhobo really wouldn't fit with the characters either way.

Really loved it. The game felt short but really good, every character and encounter feels unique. The possibility to have a positive/funny outcome on a failed skill check was great. Interaction between skills was a highlight.
I didnt like the ending, the murderer and the supernatural stuff. Together it felt really cheap and rushed.
