What's the point of having a 2080Ti?
What's the point of having a 2080Ti?

too much money or for work i guess
Having the most powerful commercial graphics card on the market?
I know consolefags/poorfags don't understand.
Muh graphics
A 2070Super will do just as well on 1440p at high refresh rates
If you can afford it, what's the point not having it?
Nothing if you already own it, but you'd be fucking stupid to get one now with the 3000 series literally around the corner
Probably to avoid having to upgrade for a long time.
To mog on poor people trying to play on Desktop PC despite being homeless
How well will this age? I know 1080tis are still very strong gpus.
>he doesn't wait for the 7000 series
retard
so you can gift it to your favorite gamer girl
No point for your average Joe.
why spend $300 on a graphics card when you can spend $1200 on a graphics card?
It's better than a 2070
2000 has been a fucking waste since it's introduction. Nvidia isn't owed a purchase just because this is all that's available.
You can tell people you have a 2080Ti.
supposedly next gen consoles have gpus comparable to 2080 so it should last a whole gen
4k and VR
>spend 4 figures on a graphics card to play modern games
>play nothing there aren't any modern games worth playing
2080 super is good enough for 1440p ultra, 2080 ti is a waste of money
Findom is horrifying
You mean 2070 Super
She based
I got my 2080super this week and it’s running nice with my i7 7700k. Although a better cpu would make it even faster
>3000 series literally around the corner
???
2080Ti can't even reach 60fps on 4K
>supposedly next gen consoles have gpus comparable to 2080
you're literally retarded if you believe this
what a loaded statement
Depends on the game and the settings, mostly if ray tracing is turned on or not.
>What's the point of having a 2080Ti?
For me...
Card is now worth more than I paid so i'll sell it, put it toward a 3080ti, not lose a cent and will have gotten full use of it.
Tax deductible.
It's thousands of dollars cheaper than dedicated 3D/CG GPU's whilst offering insane performance and good versatility. You might scoff at a 1k price tag, but we've rigs at work running 15k GPU's, 2080ti's are a fucking bargain from a performance/price standpoint for non-gaming applications.
I can run games at insane resolutions and down sample so need for fuck horrid modern AA implementation.
VR
>3000 series literally around the corner
The popularity of these cards and similar ones are responsible for the perception of PC players as over-invested.
Some retard r*astoid I had over once guessed that my PC cost $2000 because "It can play games."
I spent $800 on my mid-range rig, thank you.
why not? seems plausible, especially considering consoles run 2x or so better than equal PC hardware
I want this card. I have a i7 9700K. Will it be bottlenecked by my CPU though?
nice bait
it ooutputs graphics to your screen
Nah. i7 9700k is pretty much perfect, you're more likely to be bottle necked by ram, hdd/ssd speeds or a garbage monitor.
retard
That might have been the case when consoles were propriety, purpose built hardware, but now they're just cheap, off the shelf garbage with fucking terrible cooling and rubbish build quality.
>8 cores
>8 threads
>that'll be $450
Should have gotten a ryzen desu
It's ridiculous how many people buy prebuilts with an i7 and a 2080 or something along those lines, only to play at 1080p 60fps on the cheapest TN monitor they could find
Thanks user. I have 32gb RAM and a decent 2k monitor
Why would I get a Ryzen when Intel is superior?
240hz
It cant handle it at 4K
Might as well settle for 1440p 120Hz
Anything more than a 2060 is unnecessary, maybe a 2070 if you have a 4k monitor
>intel shills still living in denial
There is little discernible difference between 4K and lesser resolutions on a smaller monitor size at proper viewing distance. I would much rather the fluidity of motion at that point.
in my case I bought an i9 9900k because it's a cheaper alternative to AMD.
>i9 9900k
>cheaper alternative
Dear, God.
well you seem retarded
you'll probably get single digit improvement in games over the top tier ryzen and worse perfomance in all other tasks
>he doesn't know
Why wouldn't you get one? Why not shettle for the best?
youtube.com
3950x was around 900$ or unavailable when I bought my 550$ i9.
It's kind of expensive...
The technologies it has, such as Tensor Cores, are incredible for engineers and similar customers. For video games, as with most video cards, it's a waste of money for an overpriced marginal performance difference that will be irrelevant in a short time once the next card releases. Most people would be perfectly happy with a GTX 750 Ti.
What's the point of breathing?
To dab on poor people. Why the fuck do you care?
this
because i can lol
>and worse perfomance in all other tasks
I love this meme, 99% of the other tasks I do are better with an Intel CPU.
Realtime 3D viewport rendering, actual rendering, animation, physics simulation, 3D modelling, level editing, pre-vis layout, world machine gen, normal map baking, point cloud data modelling, photogrammetry all considerably better with Intel.
In fact virtually everything is better with Intel by sheer virtue of the fact that nothing is properly optimized for multi-core processors and won't be in the next half a decade, and that's before you start factoring in just how awful AMD's drivers and support have been, i've lost track of the number of software packages and games that have launched and simply not worked on AMD processors, required weeks, sometimes months of patching or still don't work as intended, not to mention the extremely sketchy quality control of the chipsets themselves with inconsistent boost speeds etc
le epic threadripper just add more cores lmaoooo *dabs on intel*
no, just NO
ryzen is overhyped af
AND they aren't even a better choice in price/performace (germoney)
only if 9700k performace AND price is too much for you, you COULD go 3700x...BUT there is still the very powerful 8700k, so FUCK ryzen
