stats dont work that way
damage scaling does not soft cap, ever, it is linear all the way to 99. for some reason, it oscillates every 3 levels.
other stats gradually fall off over time, usually, rather than hitting soft caps
30 is the hardcap for onmyo and ninjutsu slots, though

Unusual, ambush, archer recolor, rikishi unit all gone
One eyed Dragon is the only set from DLC1
No white coat Sanada armor or sarutobi armor from DLC2

Fuck me those Sohaya guys with the switchglaives are a fucking pain in the cock if you don't immediately stunlock and kill them. Just keeps hammering at you while you guard and ki pulsing every fucking time into an attack so you've effectively no option but to hope you can facetank 1 hit and trade to take the stun advantage. Unless you can consistently parry of course.

Sometimes this game fucks me off because it's like I cleared the whole game, wrecked every boss multiple times but I'll still randomly just fucking job and die to fucking mooks because everything does such fucking insane damage. The snake wimmin, skeletons with spears and rokuroburi are all potential game enders for me.

It is fucking brutal. I'm not so callous as to claim it isn't my fault that I'm dying to this shit but usually at level 200 in a game you can walk over every enemy from the start of the game.
Not in this fucking game. Random dudes with odachis will straight up 1 shot me with an overhead which is thankfully easy to dodge. When there isn't 4 of them chaining the attack at once of course.

I grinded to lvl40 at Viper's Sanctum. The Snek was kicking my ass and I wanted shrine maiden set because it has damage reduction. Needless to say, but droprate was shit.

That has never really been the case, much like Disgaea both fans and unrelated people who don't know about it all say that it's very grind heavy (or equipment heavy in Nioh's case), but that only applies to optional endgame content.
You can just equip whatever and do all the unique content in the game, which is what most players would do anyway.

tokichirio was a big wheel at the cracker factory. and he banged hiddy. canon.

Angyo/Ungyo buffs, Samurai skill points, Ki Pulse after weapon switch, easily more Ki and the list goes on.

I still don't know what weapon to go after for a new character. Got used to SG/Kat too hard.

About 80% of the decision they have done instead were for the better.
Kinda bummed about the decision to turn the naginata into SG but once you got the Tempest Flux and high stance moves I couldn't imagine any weapon being better.
