Gameplay and story are generic and in a time when every game had zombies the only thing going for TLOU was the mushroom theme of the zombies. Maybe it is challenging on the hardest difficulty but I’ve only played it once. Story wasn’t for me, didn’t give a shit about either of them.

It's a bog standard 3rd person shooter that took itself way too seriously with its HBO lite story back when that was all the rage like with BioShock Infinite and the critics loved it because "Games are art now". It's aged like milk compared to games like Spec Ops: The Line and Kane and Lynch 2 which were the same 3rd person shooters but offered something way different and compelling.

I've never hated it, although I do hate the notion that it is somehow a new apex of storytelling across all media, which it is not. It's a great movie and a decent game, that's it.

I dont hate it, I just dont think it deserves all the accolades and awards it's been granted. It's a symptom of how out of touch the industry really is about quality. They think better graphics = better game. Also the whole Ellen Page controversy was hilarious

I don't hate it I just think it's the second coming of christ. it's a competent survival horror game although the cinematic aspects really harm the enjoyability of the gameplay.

Could say the same thing about Resident Evil. Some games are clearly trying to provide an experience. Take the story and characters away and it has no impact on the player. You might as well be playing Pacman.

It's a ladder moving simulator with none of the true survival mechanics that were advertised at E3.

The story was shit too. The climax has the protagonist going on a murder rampage because the writers thought it was necessary for the prologue to have some sort of cathartic payoff near the very end.

Retconning a supporting character to be homosexual in the DLC for the sake of inclusivity was also retarded, because despite being unnecessary to the plot, the base game already had the best written fag in all of videogame history. The buildup was perfect and the character was sympathetic.

You dumbass motherfucker. The awards for those go to the mainstream but still slightly alternative shit, just like video games. The actual niche stuff always gets snubbed in favour of whatever mildly unique thing the big companies did in all but exceptional circumstances.

That's also what TLoU is, because the super mainstream is Call of Duty and FIFA. TLoU is the "artsy story focused take" on the mainstream to normalshits. The same way the stuff that wins awards typically isn't truly niche either.
