I will be pirating it. I did buy XC2 physical because that game is ridiculously good. From what I hear, XC1 plays more like your standard generic JRPG so I will be using my homebrew if you know what I mean. I recommend others to do the same and save 60 bucks.

It doesn't play too different from XC2, or rather XC2 doesn't play too different from it, the major difference is how the world is laid out.
