leading man.
That remaster is soulless. Can Square Enix do anything right?
It's still my favorite final fantasy
>Can Square Enix do anything right?
I play with only Ashe and Fran.
You might think it looks better but it's actually soulless.
The voice acting, cinematic and characters are perfect.
Looks amazing and artstyles were the way to go with FF.
This game should have been an Ivalice spinoff instead of a mainline FF.
Based
>looks like total ass
SOUL
>actually looks nice and can be looked at without eye damage
SOULLESS
if Matsuno had stayed on it would have been a much better game. He wanted Basch to be the main character but we got Vaan because square wanted them fan girl shekels
Please kill yourself, TZA is an improvement over the original and IZJS in every way possible.
how would that have changed anything about it besides the name?
It's objectively easier on the eyes to play a game without ton of needless post-processing going on.
Except the graphics and cropped cutscenes.
>looks like total ass
FF12 absolutely does not look like ass though.
how tall is fran?
graphics are better but yes the letterboxing is dumb
what world do you live in where you think the graphics look worse? enjoy vaan's tatood abs, contrarian
6'2''
7'1'' with the ears
Tried it for the first time recently. Got bored very quickly. It just made me want to play Tactics. I have no idea why they’d set it in Ivalice and only give you one non-human companion. All the abilities were either boring or needlessly glowy shit that all looked the same. Wouldn’t have even played as much as did if it wasn’t for the speed up option
The remaster adds blur and piss filters. It honestly straight up looks worse compared to emulating, and the PS2 game never looked bad.
The only visual improvement is in character hair and Vaan's abs, every other texture is downgraded and the post processing muddies up the picture or fucks with the colors.
You thought I was joking about it being soulless but it's the real deal.
nice.
Is there a PC mod that restores original visuals?
is there a way to not have to do the zodiac bullshit? I enjoyed making the characters i liked into powerhouses without worrying about locking them into jobs.
Not that I'm aware of but you can remove the ridiculous letterbox.
It's probably possible to make such a mod so it might be out there. I'd start shilling the game if it existed to be honest.
There is a mod for that!
I think thats the depth of field. I know at least on pc you can disable it. I think it can be disabled on switch as well. Always go for the pc version, its square's best pc port to date. 60fps and ultra wide screen support, its wild.
essentially all games from back then with free perspectives try to force that blur due to draw distances and trying to find a way to cover it with hd tech being the standard now.
I do remember hearing a lot talk about this green filter that is overlayed, but I dunno, I think it looks better with it.
besides the letter boxing, which is shit, i think new looks better. The game kidna goes for an oil painting aesthetic of sorts, and zodiac age really gets that look down
Reminder that Zodiac Age is the easy mode of XII.
you are not wrong about easy mode
They tried too hard making the game looking modern in the remaster. However it actually still looks really good if not compared side by side. Emulation has issues of its own, audio hitching being the most annoying one. Also the remaster has a redone OST by the same composer right? That's a huge plus.
Is it though? Considering you're funneling your characters into two limited license boards I'd imagine it would be SLIGHTLY harder than vanilla XII where anyone can do anything.
in original 12, every character can do everything but not excel at anything. In zodiac age and IZJS, the job you chose excels at a particular aspect. The games are actually easier with the job system in place. Especially with Zodiac age letting you choose 2 jobs to master.
to put it in perspective. A tank class can have the same amount of hp in the first hour of the game as a normal character might have 4 to 5 hours into the original release of 12.
Mages have astounding amounts of HP as well. and combining a tank with a mage? well now you have a tanky ass mage that out dps anything from the base game. dont swear off the job system just yet.
bosses are easier
Even without the DOF there is a fuzzyness upon the game either from another shader pass or the textures. I'm not sure, and the colors are messed up.
I do recommend the PC port because of the 60fps and mods but the PS2 game emulated still does look better because the original art style is so good.
Bad taste in regards to the piss and blur filters. Very bad.
Yeah I guess. Audio hitching is due to your hdd or cpu. There are 2 extra OSTs iirc.
Yes the jobs make your characters specialized wrecking balls. OG FF12 was pretty hard because no character excelled at anything dramatically. Also grinding took ages and gambits took way longer to unlock. Zodiac is the right kind of easy.
I dunno, i think its just preference. I emulate IZJS and prefer how ZA looks.
Im sure there is a way to disable those filters on the nexus if its that bad. ZA is by far the best remaster square has done. well besides maybe the kingdom hearts ones.
I liked it. Fran was literally my sexual awakening too. Had to keep her in my party at all times and I didn't realize why until much later.
>Talking about easy mode in a game in which you can program the characters to play for you
FF12 wasn't exactly challenging in the first place.
fran is always my bushi
katanas suit her so well, she looks fucking rad slashing dudes
oh no
dont attract the penelo copypasta poster
There's something wrong with all of them. KH has buggy audio and crash issues and this one, even if you like how it looks, really did botch the textures. There is a read up here if you're interested

I went to check and there was a blur removal mod released last week. Nothing for the color filter though
I just used bows. I beat the game without realizing you could extend MP bars so her having headhunter was invaluable.
This but for Ashe
I Order-of-Ambrosia'ed this game twice on the Switch. It's convinced me that I suffer from severe assburgers. The story was much more enjoyable the second time around, and the characters much more likeable. I also bought the OST from eBay.
>Dude what if we made half the playable cast be inconsequential to the story
>Dude what if we made a cast that barely says anything and almost never interacts with each other
>Dude what if we made multiple cutscenes where the main character has no idea what's going on and just stands in the background while people who matter speak
>Dude what if we made a villain who has zero emotional connection to the heroes and doesn't even meet them until the last ten minutes
>Dude what if Star Wars
>Dude what if we gave the narrator a comical Apu accent
>Dude what if we made a political plot and then ruined it by turning it into standard ancient god shenanigans
>Dude what if we made a plot where the heroes have almost no impact on what happens until 95% of the way through the story and spend their time traipsing through non-descript caves and ruins
>Dude what if I'm Captain Basch
>Dude what if we made the sheathing/unsheathing animation stop you before and after every battle
>Dude what if we took everything 100% seriously and had zero levity
>Dude what if we wrote all of the dialogue to sound like a Renaissance Fair
>Dude what if we we had no overworld and all travel was handled by a menu or floating teleport crystals
>Dude what if we made a battle system where you set everything up in advance so that you don't actually play the game
>Dude what if we made summons useless except for opening doors
>Dude what if instead of fun side quests we had only fetch/kill quests like in some generic MMO
>Dude what if instead of having fun side games like the motorcycle chase and Triple Triad we had nothing
>Dude what if we had really shitty music
Let's see, in Zodiac Age:
- licence boards have more strenght/magic lore licences
- licence boards have more HP licences
- characters have higher strenght and magic stat growth
- lategame weapons have higher attack ratings
- lategame armors have higher defense ratings
- singular attacks can deal over 9999 points of damage
- some spells have greater AOE ranges
- quickenings do not consume MP
- espers are stronger and have more abilities
- enemies have same stats as in original FFXII
As I said in a previous post, I’d missed out on XII. Only caught back up with XIII and was baffled at what the fuck happened to the series. Now I know.
Maxing out a job makes you stronger than maxing out the entire vanilla board, and now you have 2, and the game removed the 9999 dmg limit, and there is no spell queue, and you have a fast forward button meaning grinding is easy, and they just made it easier in general.
The game wasn't hard initially but it was at least something. It's not even a game anymore.
The more I read up on FF12 the more I appreciate the sheer artistry behind.
Why do zoomers love yellow and postprocessing shart on their games?
I noticed some weird audio stuff playing KH1 on ps4 with headphones on. Like if I did certain moves with specific placement, the surround sound did not know where to place it "location" wise in my headset, so it just didnt play it. I thought they got patches for the crashes though. I dont know for sure though, I just know I luckily have not experienced any crashes.
The texture thing I noticed as well as playing, just assumed that was normal for the textures from ps2. I do think the higher contrast helps some aspects of the places though. To me, the filter also accentuates the dessert climate and makes it seem the atmosphere is very hot and dry. To me it accentuates the dessert climate perfectly, but that is just my preference. I do like the brighter look of ZA
On the other hand it does feel good to see Aeroga do 60K damage.
M-M-M-MUH GRAPHIXXXXX
I bet you guys were pretty damn torn up over The Last of Us 2 getting delayed, lmoa.
Just of watch a movie.
I always wonder how things would've turned out if they keep the original director and never added Vaan and Penelo.
TYFT. I hope it's not copypasta.
You're a dumbass
>bought FFXII on PS2 when it cames out
>was alright, never finished it, kinda meh
>re-bought it as PS4 remaster because I wanted to replay it
>felt shit and got bored not even halfway through
>ended up buying it again on Switch because of the QoL over the PS4 version
>mfw it's actually fun
>mfw I ended up completing almost everything, every hunt, and finished the story
idk what changed but I now actually like FFXII
What have you read in regards to that? I feel like it's pretty plain, just lots of detailed texture work and good character animations.
>because of the QoL over the PS4 version
What?
the ps4 version already has a shitton of QoL changes
I always wish Fortress became a thing.
I always felt like the characters in FF12 were always unreasonably strong and I've never played it enough to break any limits like that so I think that would feel kind of dumb. I liked doing that in previous FFs though. My favorite was FFT, somehow the characters getting broken felt so good out of all the RPGs I've played.
