>what if we take a popular game
>and make it retarded
why are you the most angry with nomura
i know he okayd the story but he didnt write it and at least the rest of the game looks really good
>literally swiped away because he spoiled the twist
it's so hilariously tongue-in-cheek i don't even know where to begin
More like Kingdom Farts
If the changebads dump him on the beach this game is redeemed
>hojo what the fuck are you doing here
>those boomerghosts dropped me here and told me to get a tan, so i'm getting a tan
gee genius, might have something to do with him putting his grubby little hands all over it. OG wasn't about epic tweeeests at every corner and bombastic michael bay scenes everytime somebody so much as lifts a finger. That is kingdom hearts, also the creation of this bigbrain.
I can almost picture Cloud as Sora, Tifa as mickey mouse, Barret as donald duck and aerith as Kaeri, swap out sepiroth for some KH villain and you don't even need to change the plot for the game to still make sense.
Why do they advertise this as a remake for YEARS to then, days before relase, reveal that the "remake" in the title is nothing more but an anime subtitle, there to indicate that you, the player, will be REMAKING the plot.
Yeah it's literally just Nomura saying fuck you to everyone who wanted a real remake for 20 years and saying 'No...this one is for the zoomers!'
Walt Disney would have wanted this oriental nose gassed a decade and a half ago.
im not saying its okay what they did with the game
im saying nojima is a lot more to blame than nomura but everyone is focusing on nomura, probably because hes the better known person and also known for retarded stories; so people are being shortsighted and mostly blaming him for everything
That should become a meme.
>false advertisement
user, the signs have been there since 2015. The reveal trailer showing the "present day" of the FF7-verse before winding back, with additions and abnormalities, to the original game. The Watchers of Fate were screaming something plain abnormal the entire time. The demo alone hints at notable changes with the exaggerated explosion of the reactor at Shinra's hands rather than Avalanche's. Either you simply kept yourself in the dark in meager hopes despite simply wanting a remake of a 1:1 thing, or you completely failed to connect the dots that SOMETHING was up with this.
No, people are shitting on Nomura because he is the director for FF7R.
Nojima was the scenario writer for the OG FF7, just as he is now. He essentially has the same job has he did then. Difference being that since then he has been working together (I should say under) Nomura for all the KH games and now FF7R.
The only surprising thing about this shit fest is that seemingly nobody saw it coming. The top people of all the KH games work on FF7R and you guys are surprised when a KH product comes rolling out the other end? I swear Kitase is the only reason they didn't add in Disney toons through the power of magic deal with it.
Kitase isn't some magical exemption. He was the one that wanted the entire party cast of 7 you didn't select to take with you on the Midgar air raid to die in the resulting circumstances, and the others like Nojima had to talk him out of it. There is no one savior or one troublemaker in all this.
Why would he even tell Cloud about his past? Wouldn't he just want to watch him to see if his reunion hypothesis was correct? In fact, if my memory isn't failing, he didn't even realize who Cloud was until like, Costa Del Sol.
>all the footage shown up until the last reveal trailer shows events every FF7 fan is familiar with, with certain details changed
>people expect original plot with details altered and/or fleshed out, maybe even additions
>get Nomuraed instead, only link to OG are the characters.
>'No...this one is for the zoomers!'
I don't know... That's the project's demographic as a whole for sure, but the story seems more geared toward older fans what with all the spoilers and changes.
>get Nomuraed instead, only link to OG are the characters.
The core story is still there. Shinra is still fucking shit up, and Meteor is still probably gonna drop if the present Jenova/Sephiroth have anything to say about it. How it may or may not change depending on reception here is up in the air.
You guys are slow in the head. How are you only just realising that Nomura isn't a good director?
I don't see how that is a bad choice per se. At least it is about player driven consequences. There is nothing inherently whacky or over the top about characters dying. Of course it would have depended on the execution, but it is not INHERENTLY a dumb idea. Nomura does shit that is INHERENTLY retarded. Having cloud teleport around with his arms in naruto run mode is retarded. Using "timetravel deal with it" as a way to reset everything to a clean slate is retarded. Having no in universe explanation makes it extra spicey retarded. Adding in a "made to fit" explanataion at a later date is ghost pepper tiers of spicey retarded. But those are things Nomura has done, is known for doing and/or will do and all of them are INHERENTLY retarded.
Yes, but then Nomnom couldn't have had that scene, and he measures he game's quality in TPM, or tweests per minute.
oh ok i understand now
>the game is geared towards the players who have been dreaming of a 1:1 HD remake for over a decade
Brain damage, get it checked.
>and at least the rest of the game looks really good
That's the worst part. The rest of it looks pretty good, and I liked the combat in the demo. Despite being negative toward FF for 14 years and SE for even longer, despite assuming for years that SE would fuck up an FF VII remake, it looked and felt good, and I got interested despite my best effort not to. The rest of the game seems pretty damn good for the most part, but for me, it being a sequel in disguise ruins it, so I don't even plan to play it anymore, I canceled my pre-order (after much difficulty. Every time I told the PSN agents what I wanted to cancel, they suddenly had issues and had to kick me from the chat).
>then, days before relase, reveal that the "remake" in the title is nothing more but an anime subtitle, there to indicate that you, the player, will be REMAKING the plot.
You mean this?
>The official title is “Final Fantasy VII Remake.” According to Kitase and Nomura, there were plans to attach a subtitle that relates to the story, but they didn’t want to give off the impression that it was a spin-off or a sequel.
That's actually five years old, somehow it didn't set off any alarms for anyone at the time. Still, I agree with you.
Time will vindicate those who are calling this garbage now, rather than the people willing to trust someone who is proven to be an awful storyteller.
People didn't sue Konami for false advertisement for MGS2, so it won't happen with FF VII R either. I wish, but it won't.
Oh motherfuck. If they wanted it to be an accurate remake they probably would've never had a subtitle at all and just called it Final Fantasy VII (to which we'd just call it FF7-20 or some shit).
I wonder if the same people desperately shilling for FF7R now are the same people who did it for KH3. Why have these people developed an emotional bond with a Japanese manbaby game director that they've never even met?
That really strips the core down to its bare minimum. Any less and it would have been a case of "at their core they are the same, they both exist."
MGS2 was a sequel and not a remake
Playing as Raiden was part of Kojima's ironic statement on gamers being fucking pussies or something I dunno. Like why all the scientists piss themselves in MGS games
Kojima's jealous of a man with a STEM degree because they actually do shit, so his games became his Chad projection fantasy
I’d be surprised if fans reacted poorly enough for the changes to get shitcanned but that’s also some incredibly weak story telling right there.
Say it happens; do all our characters just shrug off the ghosts of the first cha first chapter and ignore them? Does Cloud just not remember any of the shit that he learned as a result of the ghosts. They’re drawing in pen, and nothing done in the first part can just be ignored without consequence
You forgot
>Make the fans the enemies that will never let the cast have a better end
It's such a fucking slap in the face
Stop intentionally being retarded. They knew they'd piss off people, yes, but not everyone. You do realize that I'm with you, that I think this is all bullshit, right? Yet at the same time the story is clearly supposed to surprise old fans more and more as it goes on with all the changes. You with me, champ?
>that's actually five years old
>FF7Remake was announced five years ago
no fucking way
I agree in the sense that I doubt they did these changes without any consideration whatsoever. These people have been there since the original game's release, and while the Compilation was shit and the decision to throw in sweeping changes is dumb, they're not doing this in some sort of oblivious vacuum.
I can't speak for fanboys, but some of them are actual shills. Some of the stuff I've seen reminded me of the marketers shilling RE6 here in 2012. The stealth marketers didn't fit in as well back then.
You kill the ghosts at the end of the first chapter, that's what that big boss fight with them is. Now fate is broken.
I meant it in the sense that nips use english words for their vidya/anime (sub)titles in ways that is different to western useage.
When, as westerner, you read, FF7: Remake. You probably interpret Remake as a noun, as in, it is the remake of FF7. Now however, with all the info on the table, it makes far more sense to read it in a retarded Engrish way and interpret Remake as a verb. As in FF7: in this episode you and your party REMAKE history/plot/story. The same way they have dumb anime that does the same (pick pretty much any modern day time travel anime and it has some retarded English subtitle to be interpreted in a non standard way.
Case in point
myanimelist.net
Can (not) make this shit up. an anime that does time travel with Remake in the title and it is used in the retarded verbal interpretation. He goes back in time to "remake" things/ A non ESL retard would use "redo".
>>FFVII became a best selling video game despite being a jrpg because people fell in love with the characters and narrative
Implying there's anything wrong with jrpgs you normalfag fuck
Yes, I am just very grumpy after having the one light at the end of this shitty tunnel being snuffed out. Guess it will be several more weeks of new viddya to relief the boredom.
>but they didn’t want to give off the impression that it was a spin-off or a sequel
>successfully do not give off that impression
>it is all a ruse and it was a retconning spin off sequel all along
Can't decide if I should be mad or impressed.
>I can almost picture Cloud as Sora, Tifa as mickey mouse, Barret as donald duck and aerith as Kaeri.
Did you even play the game? Comparing Septhiroth's character to a kh villain because you dislike the twist is fair enough, but this shit is next level autism and proves you have no idea about how either cast acts.
I don't know anything about that anime, and the Japanese do fuck up the usage of English words constantly, but they know what remake is. This is just SE being shits, though it's possible that the Nips are stretching the usage of the word a bit, I see them do that sometimes.
Your inability to detect a hyperbole is the real tism here.
bow to the mouse
>hurrr what's a remake
Ha it is only the ESL's who did not understand this game is good.
People are being retarded, like screaming "SEPHIROTH IS A TIME TRAVELLER" when... no, we have no idea what's up with Sephiroth, how he knows the future, why he's trying to change it, if it's even Sephiroth since it could be Jenova, and considering the Jenova introduced in this game is "Dreamweaver" who's special ability is "the ability to conjure illusions." Just sayin' that...
You know what they've done? They're remade the mystery of Sephiroth... because everyone knows the old mystery, everyone knows who he is, what he is, how he is. All that's known now, you can't put that genie back in the bottle.
Now, you don't know what the fuck's up with Sephiroth, who he really is, what exactly he's after, why. You have speculation, we all speculation... congrats... your 10 years old again. You now know nothing again.
>I'm n-n-not wrong it was just h-hyperbole.
I am not implying they do not know what remake means, I am saying they have novel ways of using English words. Hell they have English words that mean completely different things than they do in English.
Anyone acting a s if squeenix didn't portray this as a faithful remake up untill a week ago is simply being asinine.
Throwing a tism fit over it proves it works.
Having to be autistic enough to interpret the arbiters of fate as the Fans means you probably believe conspiracy theories about how everyone's out to get you.
>hey Lucy, I remade your bed!
>oh thanks, user, but that is a wooden toy car?!
>Yes, I remade your bed!
Fuck off brainlet
>Hell they have English words that mean completely different things than they do in English.
Yeah, I know, that's what my picture was for. Google バイキング (viking) and see what you come up with. It's a word used for "all-you-can-eat" because in the 70s some restaurant wanted something snappy to describe that and since a movie called "Viking" was playing, they went with that. Anyway, I did agree that they may have been stretching the meaning a bit, and I'm not disagreeing with you about their portrayal of the game either.
It's the only way this part can have any sort of theme or meaning as they've thrown the eco-terroism moral/theme out the window
Good thing that's not what this is.
This is Mortal Kombat 9
Is this your first time with a story like this zoomer? Sephiroth wants Cloud to join him in defying fate, so obviously he'll have to come to terms with the fact Aerith is destined to die. It's chicle, but more interesting than what we would have got. The ghost also fixes actual plotholes like the party's refusal of killing several keyplayers when they've had the chance, despite showing no problems with it.
It is nomura
It is time travel
Why would you believe this hack would allow anything short of the mega crutch that is time travel.
Prove it.
It's the same game with a minor (yes minor) plot changes. Keep coping.
Surely you mean Poodle Pets 6?
Anything involving time travel is not interesting. It has been done to death, not least by Nomura himself. Without exception it leads to "hol' up" and "ey tone" memes.
At best it's future sight, all we know is that Sepithorth wants to defy fate and shows everyone else two literal spoilers via the ghost to get them to kill the ghost. It's nothing worthy of throwing a fit over until the story is more complete.
I did, Nomura directed it.
That's bad though, this remake of a 20 year old game isn't supposed to invoke a sense of wonder and mystery.
That's not proof, that's conjecture. Show me proof.
Not him, playing right now, but it is neither alike or the same. Certain sections are close to 1:1 copies (tifa and cloud meeting up at the well making the promise e.g.), other parts range from additions (more interaction with Jessie e.g.) to alterations (cause of first mako reactor explosion being immense e.g.) to complete fan fic (the early sepiroth scenes e.g., also way too homolusty for my taste, but that is a different matter entirely).
All in all a great game so far, and as long as you go in not expecting or wanting a step by step 100% adaptation of the original I believe you will be fine and enjoy the game.
